Yogurt As a Snack!

When it comes to snacking there are so many choices out there .  A good alternative to junk food snacking has always been yogurt.  Many of us want convenience and flavor when choosing a snack and yogurt brings those two together.

Not only is yogurt good for you, it is also great when combining it with other foods.  Take a classic – granola. Mixing granola with yogurt is a delicious way to boost your energy levels guilt-free.  The advantage of granola is that there are so many varieties that mixing and matching is really no problem! The crunchiness combined with the smoothness of yogurt is a sure winner!

Yogurt is also really good with fresh fruit.  Sliced bananas or apples, even berries take a mediocre snack to new heights. Again, need I mention the health benefits of this snack?

Have you ever tried freezing yogurt like popsicles?  Place a popsicle stick in the yogurt and leave it in the freezer for later.  Talk about a heat buster!  I really like this on with kids.  Instead of sugary frozen kool-aid, yogurt may be a better treat for them and their health.

    Please keep in mind how high in sugar commercialized yogurt is!!! We buy organic plain yogurt and add fresh fruits. The amount of added sugar even in yogurts marketed to babies and organic varieties is absurd! Read your labels mamas!!!

    Make your own yogurt, super easy to do in a crock pot, you can add protein to it like greek yogurt and it is YUMMY!

    yogurt CAN be a good snack, but the problem with many brands is the sugar content.

    plain with added fruit and toppings is probably the easiest least sugary option

    Organic yogurt with peanut butter on top is one of our favorite deserts! YUM!

    between the high sugar and dairy – I’ hardly rate yogurt as a “good snack”.
