Complete Pregnancy Fitness with Erin O’Brien on DVD is a 2 DVD set. The first is for use while you are pregnant, the second is for getting back in shape afterwards. Erin O’Brien is a certified prenatal exercise specialist as well as a certified postnatal exercise specialist, plus she instructs these videos while being there first hand within the pregnancy then post-pregnancy experience.
DVD 1 – Prenatal Fitness Fix with Erin O’Brien
There are two workout sessions on this DVD.
Part one is 40 minutes long and can be completed completely in your living room. 40 minutes is lengthy workout for anyone, especially when pregnant, which is why you can select from the “Chapter Index” where they have broken it up into 5 workout segments.
What you will need for this workout:
- Coffee Table
- Mat or Towel
Already you’re seeing that this workout is made to be done at home. With this practical approach it’ll be easier to stay motivated and actually find time to exercise.
Part two gets your partner involved in your exercise. Pregnant women still need strength training but must be very careful, so a little helpful but supportive physical resistance makes for the right balance. But if you’re uncomfortable with this part, just skip it. The first part is plenty effective enough.
And just so you know, the second part features James Denton (Desperate Housewives) since he is the real life husband of Erin O’Brien.
DVD 2 – Postnatal Rescue with Erin O’Brien
It’s amazing to see the transformation in instructor Erin O’Brien’s demeanor after having children. It’s clear that experiencing the physical challenge of childbirth changed her perspective not only exercise but on the female body. She also clearly gained insight into the emotional ramifications as well. What’s wonderful about this is she no longer comes off as the happy jock where pregnancy is so easy, instead she expresses empathy and patience.
Start with the introduction and be forewarned that you must wait 6 weeks to begin this workout DVD only if you have been cleared by your doctor to do so. The DVD is set up in 3 progression stages that work on rehabilitating your body. It’s not about trying to have a perfectly flat belly afterwards, it’s about rebuilding your body’s health and restoring proper function. She slowly guides you through the process in a realistic manner.
