Our overnight diaper solution

We have two babies in cloth diapers right now. A two year old girl and an eleven month old girl. It has taken me some time to find what works best for the girls over nights.

Kairi is the two year old. She still wants a sippy cup to go to sleep at night which leads to very wet diapers even if I change her in the middle of the night. I have tried BG aios and sunbaby aios, they both were soaked in the morning and she ended up with a rash. The only diaper that does not give her a rash and keeps the sheet dry is a nana botton aio with snaps. It has to have snaps though, Kairi likes to be diaperless and if she wakes up in the middle of night and sees she can get the diaper off, she does. That leads to a very wet bed for us since we are a co-sleeping family.

Amelia is eleven months. She still nurses in the middle of the night but she is not a heavy wetter like her older sister. She does have very sensitive skin. She can stay dry in almost any diaper over night but she seemed to get a bad rash really easily. For a long time I was using mostly kushies with her but soon discovered that any all-in-two was going to give her rashes over night because of the liner sitting against her skin. Now we are using BG stuffable aios or nana bottoms. I like the BG a little better for her, they just seem to fit a little better but the nana bottoms work for her as well. We also put a fairly thick layer of CJs on her each night to help protect her little butt.

I am happy we have found a over night diaper routine that works, dry sheets and no rashes make everyone happier.

Make sure you are getting the dipes rinsed clean enough, I have a HE machine and until I switched to prefolds and flats I was having issues getting rashes and stinkies also using the “right” diaper soaps for your water situation helps a bunch also! I was spending 8 hours in the waqsher to try and get them clean/rinsed now a regular baby wash cycle does it fine in 2 hours! For all cotton diapers country save is a miracle!

We’ve been using Super Undies for our 4 year old son overnight because all of our Flips & Flip Trainers just kept leaking through because he was too big for them. Super Undies has a nighttime AIO that’s stuffable and we LOOOOOOOVE it! It keeps in my son’s HUGE wet pees and they come in a wide range of sizes. Next it’ll be trying them for our little girl who is only 14 months right now.
