I am really happy to say that Kairi is finally making progress with her potty training. We have been trying to potty train her for some time now and she has had no interest in the potty what so ever. She would actually cry for a diaper whenever we would put her on the potty. When she was not crying she would just say no over and over again until you let her get down. It was getting increasingly frustrating for her and for us.
We had decided to step back for awhile from trying to potty train her, there was no point in making her upset over it and since she is already dealing with lead poisoning we knew she may have a delay in potty training. Taking a break was the best choice we could have made.
We would still take her to the potty once every couple days and ask her if she wanted to go pee in the potty. Normally she would say no or she would cry. Well she finally did it. We took her in the bathroom, set her up there and she went potty! She continued doing so the rest of the night until we put her into a diaper for bed. My husband and I were beyond excited about this. The next morning I took her out of her diaper right away, set her on the potty and she went again! She is not protesting sitting up there, she is not crying and she is actually happy to go in and sit on the potty. Right now we give her three m&ms every time she uses the potty. It is working wonders.
I know we still have a ways to go with her learning to use the potty but the progress she has made it great. I cannot wait for her to be fully trained, this is a huge step in the right direction for her.
