Saving Money on Vitamins and Supplements

Over the last few years the supplements my family takes has increased as I’ve learned more about health and nutrition. However, as most of you probably know supplements can get expensive. I love our local health food stores and I want to support them, but I also have to be able to afford the supplements my family needs.

I LOVE iHerb! I found them a couple years ago and have saved a fortune. They offer quick and affordable shipping and their prices are AMAZING. Plus, they have a rewards program. You can give out your rewards code to friends and family which gives them $5 off their first purchase and you earn money towards your purchases every time they make a purchase. It’s a good way to get affordable vitamins and supplements as well as make a little extra money to go towards them. If anyone is interested you can use my rewards code for $5 off your first purchase:¬†INI139

I have heard great reviews about Vitacost as well, but have yet to try them out. ¬†Definitely worth checking into as I’ve been told their prices are great.

Nature’s Sunshine has high quality vitamins and supplements and if you sign on as a distributor you get a really great price on them! Becoming a distributor is FREE with a $40 order (or you pay $40 to sign on and get that credited back towards your first order). It’s a great way to get your vitamins and supplements at a discount while making a few extra bucks in the process! If anyone is interested in signing on please feel free to email me with any questions at I have been using their supplements for a few years now and just recently learned that I could easily become a distributor.

Mountain Rose Herbs have some pretty amazing products. I love to order through them as I always get top quality products. They offer a 10% discount to students enrolled in certain herbal education programs. I am a Family Herbalism student at Vintage Remedies and I love getting my 10% off!

As I’ve mentioned in my past blog post entitled Whole Foods On A Budget, try to run a co-op. Contact different companies and ask about bulk buying discounts. You may be surprised to find that the savings can be quite significant. Get a bunch of friends together and order in bulk. Even the savings in shipping costs makes a difference.

Of course, be sure to support your local health food store as well. Watch for sales and discounts there as well. I know many health food stores offer reward punch cards, so next time you’re there ask to see what type of savings may be offered.

We love Vitacost, not only for supplements but they have an amazing assortment of earth friendly household items, toiletries and non-perishable food items as well. Now they offer free shipping over $49, which is easy to get to when you’re talking supplements:) We also love Mountain Rose Herbs! Thanks for the recommendation on the other sites, we all love a good deal, especially these days.

I am also a huge Vitacost fan – I get our Wholemega from them, our toothpaste, mouthwash, and several other items. I am not a fan of iHerb – I find there website format to be frustrating and they don’t have as much inventory. is another good one – has a lot more baby/kid stuff.
