It’s funny how long these movies have been coming out considering how long it took us to finally watch one. My husband and I always dismissed them for being silly, but surprise, surprise, we loved them when we finally gave them a try! They truly are family movies, made for the enjoyment of both children and adults. My husband and I laughed the entire time through this movie, and it made it even more fun for our girls, even though they didn’t get the jokes.
This movie in particularly I find interesting because it explores the relationship between parent and child. In the movie the little girl is constantly being ignored by her father who is too busy to pay attention to her. Sound familiar to anyone? I certainly felt convicted. I cannot tell you how often I dismiss my children with the promise of “in a minute.” I am sure I miss much during those times.
Also, he is very bored—and at times irritated—by her belief in fairies. How often do we, as adults, squash our child down because we are not interested in what they want to talk about? This movie is the story of father and child coming together and uniting in a shared belief of fairies by the end. While perhaps predictable for its ending, the movie is truly one your child will enjoy. Go ahead and rent it and give it a try!
