Tummy Troubles

My nine month old daughter loves food but food does not always love her. She has more tummy troubles since starting solids then any of my other kids ever did. She gets constipated really easily and I feel so bad for her because I know she is hurting. We have to be very careful with what she eats for now.

All my other kids ate the same things I feed Amelia, I make all my own baby food and start after they are six months old. Amelia was not interested in solids until she was over seven months old and now she will eat anything she is offered. I have taken her to the doctor and spent hours reading online trying to find out why she is having so many tummy troubles but no one seems to have any answer for me. The doctor said she is probably just taking longer to adjust to solids and she will outgrow so for now I need to just limit foods that constipate and make sure to give her plenty of foods that help get things moving again.

So far I have cut down on her apple sauce and bananas, those were the two things they told me would probably cause her the most troubles. If cutting down is not enough I may have to cut them out completely for awhile which is to bad since Amelia loves bananas. I am also increasing her intake of peaches, spinach, pears and even giving her some prune or apple juice. I am hoping that this does the trick because I hate seeing my baby uncomfortable. Other things I have been doing to help her is giving her warm bathes, bicycling her legs and gently massaging her tummy.

I hope the stage passes quickly and she can eat the foods she enjoys without having so many tummy troubles.

Here she is enjoying pasta night –

Sweet potatoes are another good food to help with constipation troubles. Hope her tummy adjusts to solids soon! She’s certainly a cutie! :)

this is something i’m concerned about with my son. I figured bananas and cooked apples would help. but he’s still hurting bad. so I decided to see if i’m wrong. so what’s the deal with no applesauce, but apple juice yes?

my brother suggested i give him some probiotics. i give him yogurt, but maybe he needs a stronger dose. broccoli helps my son. i also decided yesterday to try buying some of the fruit smoothie- flavored fish oil i tried at the health food store. it was either barleans or nordic naturals. probably the barleans was flax oil.
