Yes they are great, one piece and that's it!

They are not hard to clean, you can just throw them in the washer with your normal laundry. I rinse mine out right after use to keep stains from setting in but you don't have to.

You can use them for several years.

:werd:

I am a LOYAL tampon user but My body has just Recently started rejecting them so I have to switch to Pads... I have NEVER wanted to use them do to the STINK factor. Lets face it AF leaves an Odor you don't wanna carry around with you and you can't exactly prevent it from happening if you use Pads, Plus the plastic they use makes me Itchy and sweat and it never held my Large messes in place..

I used MC for ONE cycle NO SMELL.... No, More itch, NO more Huge clots, and My cramps have reduced by half SERIOUSLY:thumbsup:

I simply Rinse with Warm water to remove any large matter that might be there and toss in the washer I never had any stains on anything, Nothing transfers from MC to other laundry either... Its a Great Investment If your going to use Pads anyhow

I have to say they are not my fav :( I only have some light aio's. I am also not a fan of AIO cloth dipes either, IMO if the water can't go all the way through like it does with cotton and ect it can be harder to clean, the only pads I have that have bad stains are my AIO's. The other wash up so much better. Sorry I have to be the one to put the thumbs down on the AIO's. Other mamas may have a different opinion.

All-IN-One diapers have a waterproofing layer in them.

All-In-One pads mean they are not two part component pads.....it does not necessarily mean that they are constructed with fabrics that water can't go through.

I make All-In-Ones for about 6 years and with the exception of Micro fleece which water can go through I construct out of premium/mostly organic, sustainable and fully breathable fibers unless requested otherwise. I RARELY ever put in a fabric that water can't go through.

If you understand how pads have developed over the last 10 years in the diapering communities you will understand that many people used to make their pads as two parts with inserts on wool or fleece backings backings or changable inserts. All in ones define that it is not two parts, not necessarily with waterproofing fabrics.

Just adding some history and clarity to the topic for the newer members to help them best understand AIO's.

ummm, ok so I had to think about this one. I thought all mc was like all-in-one? I guess not after I thought about it. The first ones I made (before I learned to sew) were old cut up socks that I stuff with some microfiber. I still use these one my heavy days. I did made some thick all-in-one pads but they do take a while to dry. I use them for overnights and they're great. The advantage to the stuffing kind is that they dry faster and may clean easier as well, I hardly ever have stains on them and they were old white socks. The AIO's usually stain (depending on the fabric) but that doesn't bother me at all. Sometimes there is an odor even after washing the thick AIO's (very faint but still there). I have found that added baking soda to the wash helps A LOT with that.

For the rest of my cycle (medium and light days) I use AIO's and have never had a single problem. They are fabulous.

I am just begining to make my own and getting ideas together but from the reading I have done mama cloth is best backed by fleece still breathable but water resistant. Also minky doesn't stain or stains very minor. For myself I bought black bamboo velour and lots of different colors of minky. I also got zorb for soaker material it is suppose to be great soaker material. and fleece for backing. My concern is the thickness of the fleece with 2 layers of zorb and a layer on the top sounds awfully thick to me but as soon as my cutting mat arrives I will find out :)

I did make some panty liners and they are heavenly minky toped flannel backed turned and top stitched. I don't have a serger and don't know if that would bother me or not I know that some clothing that has the finished edge on the inside bothers me. there are lots of WAHM's on here that make their own I believe I have seen Gem cloth Treehugger and pink lemonaid quite a bit. Mine will be more like treehugger not in shape but in that all the fabric touching me will be minky or velour. I have come up with my own pattern, mainly by making the least waist/scrap of material that I can :)

Clean them as need be if you have enough to go half or your full cycle that is fine, I will be rinsing mine before putting them in the bag to wait for wash day. I will also be washing with my cd's or towels, just doing a rinse on cold and spin before adding my other items.

They should last a fairly long time. if you wear each one 2x each cycle that is only 24 x a year so much less then your favorite bra or panties. KWIM?

The mamma pads I make are fleece or wool backed, I've got a few pul backed ones I made ages ago and still use but the fleece or wool backed are my favs. I love a bamboo velour topped pad backed with fleece, they are super thin and soft and you hardly feel like your using a pad :)

I make them all in one piece but as others have said fleece backed is a great option! I wash them with anything that happens to need washing and they do come clean. I prefer minkee or bamboo velour for the tops (minkee doesn't stain) and they last anywhere from 5-10 years. I have some that are almost 3 years old and still look like new (minkee) and still work like new!

Mine have no waterproofing layer so the cleanliness of them has never been an issue. Tutorial in siggy if you're interested in how they work.

Do you like them?
Absolutely!! Been using them for 7 years!

Some people said there are hard to clean, is that true?
Not at all!

How do you clean them?
Wash and dry in the machine with regular laundry.

Do you have a favorite brand? Please spam.
I've made my own, link in siggy for the tutorial. But if I were buying, I'd go with GEM Cloth.

How often do you need to replace them?
Like I said, I've been using the same ones for 7 years (with a baby in there at some point) so... not often!!

Mother Moon Pads and GEM Cloth are the two that I have used. The only "heavy" absorbancy ones I have are from GEM Cloth and they are not thick at all. No thicker than a sposie pad/the thin ones. So much more comfortable. I prefer OBV/CV tops vs. Flannel. Flannel gets a little rough and moist for me. I prefer the OBV tops. Check DS, Etsy, and Hyena Cart for many options, styles, makers, etc.

I rinse after use or at least by end of day and if still stained I pour some peroxide onto the pad (no rinse) and toss it in the diaper pail till wash time. There is no smell and you don't need PUL to be leak free. I have Fleece backed ones and have no leak throughs at all after 6 hours. I even use the pads (normal and heavy) as pantyliners in between becuase they are not thick!

I love my AIO pads, but they're all I've ever used, so I can't really offer any comparison. I've tried a few different WAHM made ones, and I love Kim's, from all things cloth. Next time I order more I will be getting them from her hyena cart store.
