Anyone use washcloths as wipes? Does it work well? I'm thinking of buying some Gerber washcloths from Walmart. They are 12 for $6. I would love to hear others' experience.

Thanks!

Yup. I love them! I've tried some fancier wipes but always go back to the cheapy washcloths.

yes I use some thick washclothes from target and they are the best for cleaning they are bigger and get the job done much better!

I have an assortment of wipes including the thin "baby" wipes, WAHM wipes, & our old wash clothes. Honestly, I like our old, cheap wash clothes best. They do an exceptional job of getting of the sticky poo. I have to use several baby wipes to get the same job that one normal size wash cloth does.

that's what I use, baby wash cloths. Hang under my bathroom sink in a old Rocking Green bag. Just use them and water, then spray off with diaper sprayer and wash with diapers :)

I have a bunch of homemade flannel wipes and I also use our Gerber/thinnish washcloths that I didn't feel like packing away; I LOVE the flannel but feel like the Gerber ones aren't quite big enough.

Even if you don't sew you could probably handle making flannel wipes (I had a TON of leftover flannel from baby quilt making so that worked out good for me), or ask someone you know that sews. They seriously only take a few mins per wipe to sew and they wipe so great (one wipe even for a messy job!) They have washed up really nice and I really could never imagine ever using disposable wipes again!

at walmart they have baby wash cloths hanging that are 4packs for 97cents I buy those. You could have 20 for the price of a dozen gerbers.

Ditto! I also don't love polyester for wipes as it doesnt really soak up the wipe solution. I end up with a thin, drippy wipe. Cheap cotton washcloths are my favorite. I just got some at TJ Maxx. 6 for $3.00! They are so soft!

Yep, we're just using regular baby washcloths that I got at Target and they're working fine for us! I've never tried any other cloth wipes so I can't compare, but as long as these are working out, I'll stick with them because I have a ton!

Target is great for washcloths this time of year... check the dorm section. They usually have a huge bundle for just a few bucks.

I understand expensive diapers, but I DON'T understand spending $2-3 for one wipe, like I've seen a couple of places, when the washclothes perform just as well.

I've used some, but prefer thick flannel wipes much more. I make my own out of nice thick flannel. It's also how I learned to experiment on my sewing machine, so it worked better for me.

Love my washcloths--they work the best imo. I have different type--cheapy smaller ones, larger Carters ones and they both work well. I just scored some @ Target in the baby section for 50% off...so you might try there too.

If you do sew (I am learning) I think making a wipe with one side flannel and the other side with that baby washcloth material (also can get baby hooded towels with this soft terry on it) would be the best of both!

the cheapo target baby washcloths we have work 100 times better than the more expansive WAHM wipes i bought!

I use a mix of wash cloths and receiving blankets I cut up and serged together.

I just bought the 12 pack of the cheapest wash cloths at walmart, I think it's like $3 for 12 of the Parents Choice ones and they work fine for us.
I just can't bring myself to spend $2-$5 on one wipe lol. I was given some organic bamboo wipes as a gift, and I LOVE them, but I still can't bring myself to pay so much for bum wipes lol.

We use Gerber baby wash cloths and Gerber organic baby wash cloths. They are very practical. The organic wash cloths are 100% cotton. I keep our wash cloth wipes in a Rubbermaid container on top of the changing table and throw them in the diaper pail with the diapers when they are used. We have a Bunn Air Pot full of warm water on the changing table too, and we wet our wipes as we need them.

i did, however i like the wahm wipes i got better. sometimes i find it doesnt clean up the poop entirely, not sure why. either way, whatever gets the job done, they dont need to be fancy.

i really dont like washclothes as wipes. i do love them for nose wipies or wiping my hands off when i put on diaper cream. they are just not thick enough and whatever you are wiping off will soak right through. http://www.the-cloth-diaper-connection.com/clothwipes.html

The washcloths are really rough compared to the soft wipes we use, Thirsties Fab and Quilters nappies.

i prefer the cheap baby washcloths, even over the $1.25 cloth wipes we bought first!

I use some washcloths, but absolutely love the micro fiber towels that I cut into wipe sized pieces. I got them at walmart too, but they are over by the cleaning stuff.
