I'm getting ready to make dishwasher detergent and there's a lot of recipes online-half call for bs and it seems the other half calls for ws (and I saw one calling for both lol!)
If you make dishwasher detergent do you use baking soda or wash soda?

I also just did this for the first time and so far I like it with the Washing Soda as well. But I had some on hand for my Homemade Laundry Detergent.

What are the measurements? I am tired of spending money on dishwashing detergent.

this is the recipe I started with but used wash soda, and didn't have any eo so I skipped that part

I did a double batch and it almost filled a 44 ounce container-I did the math and it cost about $2 to make so its definitely cheaper (I was paying $3ish for Aldi brand and it did a crappy job).

Oh and I bought 20 packets of the Koolade at Meijer because it was on sale for .10 each and I got a Catalina coupon for a free bag of 5lb sugar so it worked out to be like free to make the detergent lol!

The sea salt doesn't etch your glassware?

I usually cut my dishwasher powder (commercial brand) with 1/2 Baking soda. Then someone told me they ONLY use baking soda in their dishwasher, no other powder at all. I tried it and it works well.

I make my own and have found with my hard water I need
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup washing soda
1 cup borax
1/4 cup pickling salt
4 packets of lemon kool aid (I only had lemon lime and used that with no issues)

didn't notice anything, besides them being clean :) I also use sea salt on my face with no etching either :giggle:
