Yesterday afternoon Logan started grunting when he was asleep, luckily we were a block from St. Clairs clinic so I took him in. The doctor there said he needed a chest xray because he was straining to breath. The chest xray showed that he has pnemonia in the right lobe of his lung. The three of us to an ambulance to the Childrens Hospital and here he got another chest xray and an echocardiogram. There is nothing wrong with his heart thankfully but there is an infection in his lung. Despite this he has no fever or other major symptoms. The doctors say he is really lucky I noticed that the sound he was making was abnormal because most babies don't get brought in until they have been sick for a few days and have major symptoms like feevers or turning blue! He is on antibiotics and oxygen. Last night he couldn't even eat anything.
Luckily today he has improved and is no longer grunting or having retractions. So he has been able to nurse twice and one of the nurses gave him a bottle while I went home to check on TankDog. Logan still doesn't have a fever and is breathing more normal than he was earlier today, he is still breathing a little too fast though. From his blood tests there were two results that have come back negative which is good. But we have to wait till tomorrow to get the results of the rest of his tests. I'll keep my fingers crossed that whatever he has is covered by the antibiotics he is on, which the doctors belive to be the case because of his marked improvement. Okay, thanks for reading my short essay.
