and getting frustrated. ds has been rather fussy the past few days. He gets very gassy so he gets fussy from that, but the past few days he has only been happy bouncing on my knee, or nursing.

Last night I sat up w/ him for 2 hours and he was nursing for about 1.5 hours. He slept for 1.5 hours and was back up. Sometimes he would start to fall asleep but not for long.

Today he has wanted to nurse nearly every hour for about 20 minutes. Do you think he is not getting enough and being left hungry? Sometimes he is just nursing for comfort and using me as a paci....b/c he doesnt really drink much. He hates actual pacifiers.

My nipples are getting sore! It doesn't hurt while he's nursing, but they are just getting a little overused...:headscratch:

Could it be a growth spurt?I just dont see how he could want to eat that much....

He could be growing but it sounds to me like he's brewing some sore gums. AND this is NORMAL :)

Sore gums? I never even thought about that since hes only 1 month old. He has been more clingy than usual. H will wake up crying and as soon as he is picked up hes back asleeep.

growth spurt most likely! Or possibly foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. look it up on Kellymom.com. I went through that with DS, and Kellymom saved our breastfeeding relationship! I didn't know what to do!

I would say growth spurt/the babe is working on increasing your supply to meet increase demand as he grows. It's normal, and hard to deal with at the time, but it will get much easier! Hang in there!

When my little guy gets like this, wanting to nurse constantly, I put him on my back in a carrier and he gets a great nap, and I get kind of a break.

How about peed/pooped diapers? Have they been the same as normal? If you are getting good output, then input must be ok! I agree, sounds typical of a growth spurt though...

Oh and for sore nipples... hydrogels! The Ameda brand is the best... Pricey but sooo worth it! You can get them at babies r us... But beware that the lansinoh and medela gels aren't useable for as long... only 72 hours with the lansinoh and 24-48 with the medela... Ameda is good for 6 days.

In fact, I need a pair for myself too!
