I have always experienced some sort of insomnia late in pregnancy and chalked it up to being a beached whale and very uncomfortable.
I'm only 14 weeks and it's already started. I'm not uncomfortable yet, I just can't stay asleep once I fall asleep. I've even cut out all caffeine to see if that helps. It hasn't. I have been going to bed around 9 and waking up around 7 or 8 and feel like a ton of bricks hit me. Just exhausted. I toss and turn so much that my DH has stared sleeping on the couch because I keep him awake.
Is there anything that's safe to take during pregnancy that helps you sleep?

Benedryl is deemed safe for pregnancy and it certainly makes you sleepy. When I complained of not being able to sleep when I was preggo with the twins this is what a doc suggested to me, but I was still a bit wary.
I'm having trouble sleeping too. The tossing and turning is maddening!

Have you tried eating a quick snack? Something like cottage cheese is pretty easy & fast to digest and turn into energy for the baby to use.

No good solutions, just :hugs:. I wake up around 4:30 many days and can't get back to sleep. So frustrating!! :(

I was having a similar problem when nursing DS, basically from when he was 3-7 months. He woke constantly and I had a horrible time getting back to sleep afterwards, and initially going to sleep at night. I tried acupuncture. It's not magic, but I did find that it helped. When I found out I was prego, my naturopathic dr said the treatments could continue if I wanted (though some points would change). My sleep had improved, so I haven't gone back.

I'm having horrible insomnia. It takes me hours to fall asleep and every time DH moves or snores (a lot!) I wake up and it takes forever to go back to sleep again. It is so frustrating. I've resorted to taking Tylenol PM some nights but even that only helps a little. I'm still searching for something that I'm comfortable with, that works :hugs:
