Like how long before you were up and doing things? Like driving? Cooking?
DD was a section but that was 3 yrs ago. Come on. I don't remember that far back :) Plus we were living with my ILs and I didnt have any other kids so I could just rest more. This time I need to be more prepared.
I'm planning on freezing enough food for about a month so I don't have to cook. Should that be enough? We have a regular freezer so we have limited space but I just don't want to cook or have to buy food all the time.

I my opinion planned sections are much easier to recover from than a emergency one that you labored with. I was home from the hospital with my 2nd within 2 days. You usually can drive once you stop taking pain pills. I think I was driving with in 2 weeks. I was back cooking in 2 weeks also. I think a month of frozen food would be a plenty. I think it took me awhile before I did things like going to the grocery store with both kiddo's. I would either send DH or go on the weekend. I felt like I recovered faster with the 2nd because I had to. I had a newborn and a toddler to take care of. Hopefully it will be as easy having #3 in 6 months. Good luck to you!

Good luck to you too!

Truly mine was pretty easy. Logan was born at 12:25am, and by mid morning I was up and walking again, the catheter and morphine were out, and I was able to do all the diaper changing and feeding (in bed of course). By the time I went home I was able to take our stairs (slowly) and only used a the pain meds a couple of times. I didn't have another kiddo at home, so I was able to spend lots of time snuggling baby in bed. I didn't drive for 2 weeks, even though I felt like I could have at 7-10 days because my discharge paperwork said so. If you get in a wreck and are still under driving restrictions the insurance companies can refuse to pay (even if it wasn't your fault) so you'll want to stick to the paperwork and/or call your insurance company on that one.

Oh, my section wasn't planned, but it wasn't emergency either. They tried to induce, but I never got into super active labor so we ended up with the section.

I was a csection for a failed induction (38 weeks preeclampsia). My recovery was so easy. By 4 hours post-op I was out of bed and slowly around the room. By day 5 I went to Target (I had been on bedrest and needed a Target fix lol). The key is keep mobile so your muscles and incision don't get tight and take pain meds (I tool mine around the clock for the first few days). You'll do great!

I just had my 4th section 3 weeks ago. DS was born at 8 in the morning, and I was discharged by 10 the following morning. Each recovery has gotten easier and easier, probably because I have more kids waiting at home that need to be taken care of. DS was born on Wednesday, and I was done taking pain meds on Sunday.

I really think one of the keys is getting up and moving around as early as possible.

Good luck!

freezing meals ahead sounds like a great plan!
I had a c-s with my son, and the recover was pretty easy for me. stay on top of the meds, they do help a lot. I can't remember when I was off those, but no more than 6-7 days tops. I stopped at WalMart (with my mom and ds) on the way home from the hospital! what the he-yeck was I thinking...:giggle2: but seriously, it was not too bad, not as bad as I thought.

It sounds like the other mamas had some positive experiences, sadly, I don't. I labored for 36hrs w/my son and then had to have a c-section. Recovery was rough. I reopened parts of it twice and had to go see my ob and have her clean it out (most painful) so it wouldn't get infected. However, I'd say a month worth of freezer food would be enough. By 4wks pp I was at least going up and down stairs and taking care of my LO alone.

Yeah, I didn't either. :( I was able to "do" a lot of stuff within that first week home but had pain for a really long time. But to the OP - you'd probably remember if it was very difficult to recover from the surgical pain of a cesarean. Hopefully the fact that it is a little blurry in your memory means it was pretty smooth! I had my staples out at a week postpartum and was not driving at that point - I took two weeks before doing that.

I'm recovering from my 3rd C, this one has been rougher recovering from than the others. Probably because I don't give myself time to heal. I was driving the nurses crazy by wandering the halls, but it's so boring in there! I have an infection, so that's giving me a fit right now.

The other sections, even the emergency one was pretty easy going after. I would say that as long as you don't push your limits, you should heal well and a month's worth of meals will work fine. It'll give you a bit of cushion while you get used to parenting 2. THAT part gets easier as you have more :-)

I def would think that planned C/S are easier to heal from. I was in labor for 13 hours , and pushing for 4 before (all natural) before we figured out that DS would absolutely NOT turn his head to come down the birth canal, even with help.
When we came home I only took Motrin (500s??) for the pain. They were going to give me Vicodin or something of that nature, but honestly whatever was in my epiline (from surgery-the second day) had me pretty out of it, and I didn't want to feel that way.
luckily my parents were here to help, so they cooked (although dinner was usually later than I would usually eat, and I would have LOVED for them to clean a bit more...)
They're comming again this time. This time I will not be afraid to put down my foot and tell my mother that we eat at 6-6:30 because DS bedtime is 7-7:30. (We were eating around 7:30-8.) I won't be rude about it, if I have to cook that's fine.
I definately plan on using my crock pot a lot!
Also, we went to church 3 days after we got out of the hospital. That was about it though, until 2-3 weeks, when I went pretty much anywhere. (site seeing w/DH's host family, to the mall, to a cookout, ect.)
TMI:
My C/S did get infected. PLEASE make sure you request stitches. 60% of mamas who get staples have infections. They took the staples out the day I left the hospital. (So they were in 2 1/2 days!) and put the butterfly bandages on and told me I was good to go. >_< 1 side did not heal, and they had to clean it w/qtips. I still can't stand the memory; and I have a nasty keloid. Luckily I look at it as a battle wound and it doesn't bother me too much.

i just had my 3rd section on december 26 :) it was supposed to be a VBA2C so i went into labor naturally but because of heart decels at 1cm i chose the section to make sure she got out safely..and let me tell you i would be "dead" with out this:

i am SO GLAD i bought this because this is the 1st c-section i have been able to get out of bed on my own after the 2nd day of being home..i needed help w/the other kids for over a week!!! i can lay on my side if i wear that but w/out it im in a lot of pain. it puts the perfect pressure on the incision so i dont have to hold a pillow there all the time..i love it! my dr said i could wear it the day after surgery until i was recovered :) and its comfortable!!
