So a woman in my neighborhood has offered me her huskylock serger for 45 bucks. I'm tempted but it only does 3 threads and I have never used a 3 thread machine before. Do they work really well? Really I am only going to use it for my fabric dolls I make to reinforce them a little bit since kids will be playing with them and maybe some clothes. Any thoughts?

I'm not familiar with the machine you are refering to. However, I've been using my mom's machine which is capable of serging with three threads. I used it on my diapers for the kids. They've been in use for a little over a year now and the seems are holding up just fine.
and, shoot, for 45 bucks, if you really don't like how it works, you should easily be able to resell it.
