DD is just too big for her highchair (I always hated it anyway and will be thrilled to see it go!) but we do not have a kitchen table (remodeling) at the moment. To avoid a huge messy living room floor, how could I feed her where she can feed herself? She knows how to use a spoon and everything. Anyone have tips, advice?

I also bought a remnant of vinyl from joanns large enough for here chair and throwing clearance. oh& when you get a table it can strapon to a chair!

Oh I have one of those!! We don't have any other kind of table...no coffee table or anything. I was thinking about getting her a little folding table for kids...

When we didn't have a table we bought one of those folding hard plastic picnic tables for kids and let DD eat at that. :goodvibes:

The little picnic table sounds like a good idea...

My dd is just about 20 months and she hates not sitting with everyone else at supper, so we got her one of these:

I take it to my parents house all the time, and we never eat at the table there, I just put dd in it on the floor next to me, and she loves it. Sometimes we even bring it in the living room if we're doing a "pizza/movie night"

How big is your dd? Ds is 23m and just about 30lbs and about 36inches and STILL fits in highchairs. Its hard to believe that shes outgrown it already, unless your meaning that she just wont sit in it anyMORE?

Well, we bought DD a table and 2 chairs-The Little Mermaid ($20-30) for her Christmas and that is where she eats now... It is also where she colors, plays with her blocks, and about everything else. She loves sitting there.

DS ate a a child's folding table-- it's been a great purchase. We use it to color, puzzles, etc. I never owned a high chair with him, went from the exersaucer, to a booster seat to his table---

I'm going to cry when DD outgrows her high chair.

We have a small kids blue wooden table and chairs from Ikea. Ours is 9 years old and still great. It sits in the middle of the kitchen. My 13 & 10 yr old still sit at it. It wasn't that expensive. And it is better made than most kids table. No press board.

Similar to this one:

I was just going to say, my oldest son sat in a highchair until he was 5 and he was mad to give it up, lol. We didn't use the tray anymore, just pushed the chair up to the table so it was like a nice high boosterseat. He loved it. He did go through a phase at around 2 for a month or so that he didn't want the high chair but discovered it wasn't so messy to use it so decided he liked it. Now he uses a booster seat.

Carter is 16 months now and is no where near leaving the high chair.

She's 26.5lbs and 32" tall. The highchair is an Evenflo Expressions, the tray pushes on her tummy, and the seat cover is ripped and awful. I bought it brand new but it sure didn't last. No she'll sit in it, but it presses against her tummy and hurts her. So yeah, she DOESN'T fit anymore.

ETA : Heheee, I must have had breastfeeding on my mind since dd nursed so much last night...I meant Expressions, not Expressiva...lmbo at myself.

My 2yo sits in a first years reclining booster w/ tray in the upright position. She never had a high chair...we've used this since she was 6mo and it has been great. We did put phone books underneath it so it sits up higher, though.

My DD still fits in her highchair but REFUSES to sit in it. We got the First Years booster too and I laminated some of her artwork to use as placemats. But more often she eats out of her snack bowls either sitting in her chair or standing at the coffee table.

We have a Tripp Trapp/Kinderzeat that DD still uses. The seat and footrest are both adjustable. It will even hold the weight of an adult. We love it!

we have little booster seat chairs that have a tray with it that my kids use. We just use the chair pushed up to the table, but when they cant sit at the table we just put the tray on and put a blanket or towel, something underneath them in case they drop food
