my dd will be 7 in September, and I think she's around 45lbs. I'll weigh her when she wakes up :) My kids are string beans lol

eta: just weighed her and she's 43lbs.

My daughter will be 8 in October, is 3 ft 11 inches and weighs 43 on an empty stomach, 44 if she has just eaten! LOL Talk about a string bean. The child needs a 4/5 around the waist and a 6 for length. IMPOSSIBLE to find clothes for that child.

My DS just turned 6 in May. He weighs approx. 46 lbs. and he's about 44 in. tall. I'm really guessing here because I know he's almost ready to use the seatbelt instead of LATCH install on his car seat and because he was only tall enough to ride some of the fair rides (which average 42 in. and above to ride alone). I will have to measure him when he gets home tomorrow.

My oldest turns 6 next week and we don't have our annual checkup until the week after, but unofficially at home she's approximately 44 pounds and 48" tall.

ETA: Checking the growth charts that seems about right - she's close to the 90th percentile for height and 50th for weight, which is pretty much where she's been tracking.

My 6 year old boy is 3' 8" (shorty!) and 38 pounds.

My oldest was only 30 pounds (<---not a typo!) at 6 years old. (She's almost 14 and 80 pounds now.)

My second child was probably around 45-50 pounds at 6 years old. She is the only one of my kids that is average size--the others are petite--and at 6 years old she was one of the tallest kids in her class. She is 8 and 60 pounds now and she's right in the middle height-wise of all her classmates.

My youngest is not 6 yet. :)

ETA: Check out my 6 year old boy at his kindergarten graduation one month ago next to this giant girl with no face.

My son is 9 now, but when he was 6 he hadn't gotten to 50 pounds yet. He is built narrow in the bones (snake hips) and isn't very muscular.

OP, your son looks broadly built and muscular. He will probably grow into a longer, leaner big boy look, but he's never going to be bean polish. And that's ok! Right now, he has such a sweet "baby" face!

My son will be 8 and weighs almost 80 lbs but he is not chubby, he is just very very solid. He has been this way since infancy. He always weighed way more than other kids his age but they always looked bigger. His MD says he has a lot of muscle mass which we all know weighs more than fat. :) He is sadly built like his mama so a bit on the husky side. I say this because I have been told by MDs that my healthiest weight size is about when I am in between 10 and a 12. I actually have serious problems with my health when I try to be any smaller than these sizes, extremely low blood pressure (they were actually considering putting me on medication to make it higher) and I am boney. So we are just not a super small family.

Joey is about 44 inches tall and 42 pounds. He is scrawny! You can easily count his ribs from the front and back, and most of his vertebrae are pretty visible. He has huge knobby knees and barely any muscle on his legs.I actually was worried and asked his ped about it, but he brushed it off with him being so active (which he is). And he eats like a horse! He will finish anyone's food if they have any left.

My 6 year old (turned end of April) is 50 inches and weighs 63 pounds. :) but both of my boys have been off the charts for height and weight since they were born. My 6 year old just came back on for weight bc he actually LOST a pound between 5 and 6!

Fwiw, my 4 year old is 47 inches and 64 pounds. Both are very solid boys. My 10month old DD is 29 inches and 26 pounds :) Dh is 6ft 6 in and about 280.

My dd turned 7 in May and is 50lbs. I think she's around 48" tall but I'm not sure on that because I haven't measured her height lately. She's pretty average build and wears a size 6/7 in girls clothing. She seems fairly similar to the other girls we know that are her same age.

I have an almost 10year old that is the same size as an average 7-8 year old (no really my nephew is bigger than him and he is about to be 8). He is just under 4 foot and has been for the last 3 years and he weighs 62lbs. He grows between 1-2 inches a year. Which is why he has to see an endocrinologist.

oh and your kiddo looks fine. Quin is built like he is. He's sturdy and broad shouldered, although he's above where he should be in weight even his ped looked at him and asked where he put the weight because he isn't fat... :) It's all about build. A good example would be that at 5'5" I have a very thin looking upper bone structure at between 135-140lbs. I have bigger bones like Quinlan does. It's funny I've been told I'm too thin and obviously at a size 8 and 135-140lbs I'm not dying. lol I can easily carry more weight on my frame and be healthy. Sorry to ramble.

My DS #2 turned 7 in May he's 52in tall and weighs 75.5 lbs, no chub on him at all though, he's just solid as a rock.

Now my 8 almost 9 year old, I know he's chubbier then he should be but we've completely changed our diet, cooking at home and making better choices about what we cook and he stays so active with organized sports and they play outside all day. So I'm not sure if his chubbiness is just a phase or not.

Just thought I'd add my DD although she's not 6 or 7. She's only 4 1/2....but she's roughly the same size and even bigger than many of these other kids. At her 4 year check up she was 43 inches tall and 52 pounds. She wears size 7/8 clothes. She's at the top of the percentile for height...and above the percentile for weight...meaning she's overweight :( Been working on this for some time now. Can't wait to see if we've made any progress by her 5 year check up.

My (just turned) 5 y/o gets mistaken for a 6 y/o all the time. She's 45 inches and 42 lbs.

Here she is with a 7 y/o, 6 y/o on the left, and the taller ones on the right are 9 y/o. The two little ones are 3 and 2.5.

ODS is 7.5, about 48in and weighs about 55lbs.

He looks like a string bean, but about 75% on charts for weight and 90% I think for height. He actually is skinny but is pure muscle as he NEVER stops moving. He even has a 6 pack if you look, couldn't believe it when DH said so! Funny as he kinda has a hard muscle thing going on wheras my less active son is super skinny but more soft/squishy.

My DS is 5 years old and will not turn 6 until next spring. He is 46 inches tall and weighs around 53 pounds. About 90% for height and 95% for weight.

He has been built sturdy since he was born. He has always had a big head and long and wide torso. His bone structure is just bigger than most kids. It used to concern me more, as I was a skinny kid who was tall but had a smaller frame. But, my DH told me he had to wear husky clothes for a while he was younger. By the time DH was in junior high he really muscled up and thinned out. As an adult, my DH rarely works out and doesn't lift weights, but he has more muscle mass in the legs and arms than most guys that work out frequently.:giggle:

My DS is not chubby, he is quite muscular for a 5 year old. If I have him stand on his toes, his calf muscles pop out. I am a little jealous of his calf muscles, I never have been able to have any muscle definition.:giggle:

I discuss his weight with the pediatrician at his yearly checkups and they are never concerned. It is just his build. My DS has several cousins that are built like him. Some have grown to be muscular and thinned out and some have grown up into chubbier teenagers and adults. I try and just focus on giving lots of access to physical activity and healthy food options. He already seems to be thinning down a bit over the last year.

OP - You DS seems to be built similar, to my DS. Is he muscular? I wouldn't worry unless he seems to be getting chubby.

My DS grew about 3 inches last year and only gained about one pound. It seemed like a lot of his friends hit a big growth spurt in K4. He usually has always worn clothes a size bigger than his age. My DS has a long torso, but shorter legs and arms, so I can only up-size him a little or his pants legs and shirt sleeves wind up too long. He has worn a lot of Gymboree clothes because of that. Their clothes seem to better accommodate a sturdier built kid.
