I have been in pain since last night. SPD type pain in the pelvis and lower back, basically everything from my belly button down hurt. I have been in pain all day today. I had baaaad SPD related pain with our oldest son and was basically miserable the entire third trimester. The pain and pressure so bad toward the end that I couldn't stand up long enough to take a shower because of how much it hurt.

The thing that has helped me the most was some stretching, other than that nothing has worked. I waited until Daddy got home, dinner was done, kids were calm and took a bath. I stayed in there for a little while trying different positions and trying to relax and read my book.

The bath made the pain worse. I could not believe it. I stood up to get out and felt an incredible amount of pressure. I don't know if the warm water caused the baby to change positions or whatever but the bath made the pain worse. I drained the bath started the shower and stood under hot water for a few minutes but at that point I felt diarrhea and nausea coming on so I got out.

(TMI)

Walking was really uncomfortable but I hobbled to the bedroom and got dressed, sat on the couch for a few minutes and had to run to the bathroom. I didn't throw up but it came out the other end. I wiped and wiped and wiped and wiped again for good measure and noticed a little clump of of what looked like white snot on the TP. I wiped some more and couldn't tell where it had come from, there was no more. That freaked me out to the point where I got shaky from everything. I know all this stuff can be normal during pregnancy but all at once...that makes me nervous.

I waddled back to the couch, back to the bathroom where I had diarrhea again. I've felt a couple contractions here and there but mostly it's just discomfort in my lower abdomen and back right now. Walking still hurts, I don't even want to be sitting at the comp right now but I'm somewhat nervous and wanted to share it.

I'm going to lay down, with a big glass of water, and try not to move for the rest of the night. When I got up from the couch to walk to the comp walking was still uncomfortable. We'll see what happens, which will hopefully be nothing. I'm even more nervous because I've had a feeling for a couple weeks now that this baby was going to try to come early. This stuff is not reassuring me we'll make it to term.

I did consider going to L&D but for what? I'm not having regular contractions, water hasn't broken (knock on wood), no bloody show. I figured it was related to baby's position and the SPD but if anything changes I'm not going to hesitate to go. Next contractions I have, if any, I'm timing.

Does your doctor's office have an after hours line that you could call?

I feel somewhat better this morning. I am still sore but this feels more like the kind of muscle pain sore you get with the flu and not like labor related. Last night it hurt to walk at all, this morning I can walk, not pain free but I can walk so that's definitely an improvement. My back still hurts like crazy but no regular contractions, just the sporadic one or two that I've been use to feeling here and there. That makes me feel better.

I woke up in pain last night around 2 and noticed that he was moving like crazy and his movements were in a completely different area. Because of that I am wondering if he flipped his position and that caused the significant pain and contractions last night. I wasn't certain what position he was in before but thought it was head up...however he was I think he's different now. Whatever he is, the majority of and the most active moment is low...no pressure feeling though.

I'm going on self impose bed/couch rest today to keep off my feet as much as possible and drink my water make sure I'm well hydrated. I have my belly support on to see if that helps. My fitness ball is coming priority so that should be here the next 2/3 days. One of the reasons I really wanted one at home this time around is that I've read over and over again it can help with "normal" pregnancy pain as well as the SPD, SI joint dysfunction, and Sciatica so I'm hoping it provides some relief. If not, we'll just have a cute 65cm ball in the house for the kids to play with, lol. At this point I'm willing to give Tylenol another shot (typically it doesn't do anything for me). With B I was on Tylenol with Codeine the last few weeks just so I could reduce the pain to bearable to function and sleep.

Long and short of it, I think he flipped positions. So far nothing really indicates to me that it's labor, thankfully. I feel better, again thankfully and think everything I felt before and after the worst of it last night was related to his position/flipping. Hopefully the pain improves naturally for me but based on what happened with B I am not holding my breath. I will be stepping up the pace to get at least my bag packed in the next few days just in case I do start regular contractions or the doctor wants me to be monitored or checked out because of the pain.

I should be in contact with him today or tomorrow for the other things. I think I'll ask him to check me at the next appointment (8/22), if make it that far, and I'll ask about doing the fetal fibronectin test because of the history with R (her pregnancy was a mess and stuff started happening early) and B (preterm contractions started 34 weeks, went on bed rest and procardia to prevent early delivery). The other two I didn't have any issues with, interestingly enough.

I'll keep you all updated!

Does your doctor's office have an after hours line that you could call?

I could have reached someone but chances are it wouldn't be my doctor and they'd tell me to come in anyway.
