Who has managed to inventory their freezer, fridge and pantry yet? Not me! :giggle:

Post your lists here if you need help/recipes to clear everything out/use it instead of just buying more at the store

Not me either, and I probably won't! I'm just too lazy to inventory. With that said, I pretty much know what I have and will be using using up that , but will have to get milk, fruits and vegetable and yogurt on a weekly basis.

I will probably only do the freezer since it's so hard to see in there

that said, if you come across something and are like what the heck do I do with this? ask us, we might have some good ideas!

I started to inventory, maybe I will post when I'm done, but seems like a lot of work! For now...ideas for spaghetti noodles, rotini, and penne other than "spaghetti". I'm also dairy free which complicates it.

And almost every kind of bean. Any fresh perspectives there?

Well, we are still using up the "leftovers" from the X family Christmas which is always pizza and sundaes. So, since I hostess, I get left with all the leftovers (ie the things we had too much of). So yesterday we had chef salads with all the leftover ingredients and all I had to grab (from my fridge) was lettuce and dressings. Today we had tacos using up most of the rest of the leftovers from the family christmas. Tomorrow we will be having ham and cheese hot pockets (I use a calzone recipe and just make them smaller) with the last of the cheese (cheddar) and the leftover ham from our Christmas Day smeal. I am so gonna participate in the pantry challange since I have a lot of bits and pieces that are in my pantry/freezer.

I have lots of frozen diced bell peppers.

Other than chilli, I could def. use some ideas for using up lots of these. We don't like them in spaghetti, but open to anything else. ;o)

I just did this oday well, I didn't make an inventory but I pulled everything out and came up with about 13 meals that I can make from my pantry and made a list of things I need to make complete meals with what was left. I would love to make an inventory but I'm not sure what format to use that ould work for me.

As for the pasta: how about baked noodle dishes - red sauce, alfredo sauce, cream of anything soup, etc. For a quick lunch or dinner I boil some noodles and toss in some pepperoni or some sliced hillshire farm cook sausage and them let everyone add their own dressing and cheese.

We love to do Lo mein! It's super cheap and easy.
I used spaghetti, angel hair, or linguine. Thinly slice any type of meat (you can get away with using a VERY small amount of meat here I usually use 1/4 to 1/2 a pound for lo mein) and then stir fry with your favorite veggies.
Toss with a little terriyaki, soy or ginger sauce. Any asian themed sauce and veggie combo will work. We like angel hair pasta topped with thinly sliced pork, onions, water chestnuts and broccoli. But you can use whatever you have on hand. Feeds a crowd easy and cheap - and my kids LOVE it.

I probably won't do an inventory.... I have too much of a stock pile.....
But I will come here for ideas on what to do with some random cuts of meat and random bulk ingredients.

How about fajitas or sauteed with mushrooms and onions and used in omelets or just mixed in with scrambled eggs--maybe breakfast burritos?

I also make stuffed pepper cups casserole. Instead of actually stuffing the peppers, I just throw in diced peppers into the hamburger mix and bake it.

I should probably do this, but I'm scared on what I'll find in my freezer. :hide:

Yeah, I'm not going to do an inventory at the moment because we are too stockpiled, also. Maybe in another month or two, I can get down to just all the dozens of packages of dry beans we have :-) And then I'll surely need some help trying to figure out what to do with so many beans. We're so sick of bean burritos and bean chili (DH is a vegetarian, so those two are staples).

Tonight I made a pot pie with turkey, gravy, and pie shell leftovers from Christmas. Yum!

I did just a meat inventory from 1 of my garage freezers. I was SHOCKED at how much meat we had in there!! :hide:
9 whole chickens
4lbs pork ribs
4lbs steak
2lbs salmon
3lbs sausage links
1lb italian sausage
7lbs ground turkey
4lbs ground beef
8lbs b/s chicken breasts
2 pork roasts
1 pork tenderloin
1 whole turkey
1 whole ham
I have another freezer that is pretty well stocked with frozen fruit and veggies, over 60+ jars of jam, LOTS of homemade chicken stock, and a few homemade freezer meals.
The pantry is also pretty stocked as well with all kinds of pasta, some dry beans, rice, and LOTS of baking supplies
Yeah I really need to do this challange!!! :giggle2:

LOL, maybe this isn't for me! I don't have near as much as you guys, but with DH out of town next month I still think I can get by with buying very little. The bad part of that though, is I will then have to rebuy and refill my pantry once DH comes home! At least then I will know what not to buy any more of, since no one seems to eat it!

I like this idea! My pantry and freezers are bursting! I stock up whenever I see a good sale and many a time we've lived off my pantry when lean times came. Well I'm happy to say times haven't been so lean lately, but I really need to reduce what I have and to not stock up as much anymore!

I went ahead and started! I was sick of Christmas left overs, but do not want to go to the grocery store anytime soon!

So far we have had:
Lasagna (skipped the ricotta bc I didn't have any) & used up a meat heavy spaghetti sauce from the freezer & then added fresh spinach and baby red and yellow peppers in. DH said it had really good flavor & DD never noticed the difference! We had it for dinner, and then lunch the next day.

DD has been enjoying ham (from Christmas) in her scrambled eggs and Mac n cheese, but I was pretty sick of it so I used the rest to make a ham & potato soup that turned out really well! That was dinner last night, and I will eat on it for the next few days too!

For breakfast I used up the blueberries in pancakes and then tried some with cinnamon chips I had leftover from holiday baking and they were amazing! I'm doing that again!

I think we will have chicken nachos for dinner tonight and then the next day I'm making either chicken Parmesan or mama made nuggets - just depends on my mood!

Once DH leaves on his work trip my cooking will be scaled way back and DD and I will working using up the dry goods in the pantry. Rice bowls are my newest favorite quick meal - but not something I can get away with serving DH. (he's kinda spoiled and expects a manly meat serving. Blah!)
