Taking another lazy day today. The kids are out of school, it's dreary here and cold and all I want to do is lay around. I'm sooooooooo tired all the time, like I could sleep for a week tired. I'm going to get dinner in the over about 2pm but other than that I may not leave the bed today.

Dh took the kids to the zoo. I love the zoo and would normally have gone but I could not get my brain past the luxury of a quiet few hours spent alone! :)
So here I am. Dishes and laundry need to be done. Toilet needs cleaning. Wool really desperately needs washing!! And all i want to do is lay in bed for hours!! Lol
Thats why Im posting now. To be accountable. I am going to get this stuff done like speedy gonzalez so I can relax!

You guys are making me feel lazy! lol... I am mentally motivated to clean, just not physically. ;)

DS is napping right now, so I'm taking that time to relax. He was up every hour last night. It's getting old!

:hugs: Jemilynn. I still haven't gone back to my DDC to see the babies.. hurts!

DH is at work today, we had Bible study here this morning which was great. Now I will probably fix them some lunch and put my 1 year old down for a nap and let the older 2 watch a video while I relax in BED. Haha. Oh, and finish a few more loads of laundry, change the sheets, etc. I totally could lay in bed ALL day long too. Lasagna sounds yummy (would prob give me heartburn though.. ugh). I haven't started dinner yet.. any ideas? I usually do crock pot meals.... hmmm. Nothing sounds good. DH mentioned last week that I hadn't cooked in a long while. :giggle: oops!

I don't blame you. I remember right when my mc baby would have been 3 months old I had to leave the church during baby dedication to bawl in the bathroom. :hugs:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has zero energy. I feel like a freak with how much I just want to mope around and sleep.

I haven't been cooking much either. I find that with these raging hormones I have no idea what I like half the time anymore. Or I have a crazy craving and take a few bites and the food doesn't taste like it normally does to me and I'm turned off. I don't remember so many aversions with my previous pregnancies!

Just cleaned the bathroom and mopped the floors! Still need to fold laundry and wash wool. I think the wool's not gonna get done!! I'm ready to lay down!!

Hey! We have had a lazy weekend here all around. DH has today off. We haven't left the house since Thursday. The girls woke up with major snotty noses on Sat, and now I have it too. Both girls are down napping right now and I majorly need to clean and fold laundry, but I am just too tired to care, lol! And sick. I don't remember feeling this constantly queasy with my last 2 pregnancies!

I have been cooking, but only super fast meals. Last night I made planko encrusted chicken parm. super easy-flatten chicken breasts, dip in flour seasoned with salt & pepper, then egg, then the planko breadcrumbs mixed with parm cheese, cook in a skillet till done, then top with tomatoes and parm cheese till melted. Serve over spaghetti & jarred sauce. Takes like 20 minutes tops. The other night it was California chicken salads-cook a chicken breast, slice, toss with lettuce, sliced strawberries, Mandarin oranges, candied pecans, blue cheese crumbles, dried cranberries, & balsamic vinegar dressing. =)

Dude! Those don't sound like super easy to me! Super easy is frozen lazagna, cut up romaine salad, and frozen french bread out at 2 to thaw and raise!!!

But that parm breaded chicx does sound yumy! What is planko breadcrumbs?

I'm finally back to cooking again. I got away from it for a few weeks when I was really feeling awful. But it's my downtime, I love to cook and it calms me. Tonight I'm making homemade beef stew over egg noodles. Its the kids favorite meal and with the weather being so gloomy I thought it would be nice.

Missing my DH. :( He's been gone a week and it will be at least another 3 weeks before I hopefully see him. It depresses me even more after I talk to him on the phone, makes me realize how much more I miss him.

Oh my, that sounds AWESOME! DH would think I was really nuts- he's the iceberg lettuce with cheese, croutons, and 2x more French dressing sort :giggle2:.

Maybe she meant panko- japenese bread crumbs that are becoming very common in recipes.

I know what you mean... I hate DH being gone. He was gone for 10 weeks in the spring and it was so so hard. Hang in there!

I like to cook too but I hate not having all the ing. on hand! Since we're at the new house I feel like I'm constantly running to the store (and it's not close) for something. going to go to the crockpot thread and see what I can come up with for tomorrow. Tacos are for tonight.

Made egg salad for lunch b/c I was craving it and I've been eating it all afternoon! It grossed DH out so much he ate in his office. ha!

I barely made it out of the shower this morning before the water was cut off. There is another leak on campus. I feel bad for the men out there in the pouring rain trying to repair the pipes! DH had to cook lunch for 70 people without any water. We had coconut milk curry with rice and canned beans. He had (fortunately) filled up the pots with water to make rice before the water went out.

DH just took DS2 home for his nap. I have so much to do at work....but I am enjoying some peace. On Mondays I supervise computer lab and teach computer programming all with DS2 underfoot. It is exhausting.

Today he feels sick and is whiny. For the first time in over a month he slept most of the night. About four am I hear a croaking little sore voice trying to call for mommy. Since I didn't answer right away he started calling his brother, who is in the same room. It was heart-breaking how pitiful he sounded. I put him in bed with us and he went back to sleep. I had strange, crazy dreams. The last dream had me in the White House having tea with the Clintons and Queen Elizabeth. I committed a huge mistake by wearing black gloves and the Queen was mad at me. Not sure where that dream came from!!

Discipline committee meeting time. May have to expel some students today. I hate this.

If it makes you feel better.. I'm stuck in that place where I want to clean and do laundry.. I just can not bring myself to actually do it. On the plus side we did finally get DS's room cleaned up some last night... all that's left is the living room. But oh my...my house is a MESS! It's naptime here too, and the only reason I'm not napping is because it takes me forever to fall asleep now and DD will be up here shortly.

Dude! Those don't sound like super easy to me! Super easy is frozen lazagna, cut up romaine salad, and frozen french bread out at 2 to thaw and raise!!!

Those are my kind of dinners. We've been eating super simple stuff here. Between morning sickness and me not being able to eat much of anything I gave up on cooking anything real. chicken breasts and rice, spaghetti, and fajitas (or uhhh steak with some seasoning on a taco shell..) are about all we're eating. DH and DS have been eating a bunch of stuff we have that I can't eat to get it out of the way. And cereal is DS's favorite food at the moment so we have more cereal than I care to admit.

I'm finally back to cooking again. I got away from it for a few weeks when I was really feeling awful. But it's my downtime, I love to cook and it calms me. Homemade beef stew sounds soo yummy! I made some last week and it was soo good! I can't wait to get some motivation to cook, and find recipes I can actually eat! I'm sorry your DH is gone for so long, I hope these next 3 weeks fly for you.

AFM: I woke up feeling pretty good today, but just no motivation to do anything. I'm hoping this week goes by quickly.. I can't wait for my dr's appt next monday, and to finally be 12 weeks. I have to keep reminding myself that the morning sickness is almost over. Just another week or so. I think I might have convinced DH that we shouldn't find out the sex too! He thinks I'm crazy but he didn't really say much. I guess we'll see!

My easy meals are much more like Martha's, too! :) actually frozen lasagna sounds good...

I am also really craving a Chicago style hot dog. DS put pretend ketchup on his play hotdog anf i had to jokingly correct him. No ketchup on dogs! So now i want one. There are brands without nitrates, right? Is there anything else bad about them? I mean, I know they aren't the healthiest meat, but are they dangerous?

Nitrates aren't good for you, but one hot dog here and there isn't going to cause any harm! Everything in moderation!

We have a date night scheduled for tonight! I'm nervous/ excited. DD hasn't been put to bed by anyone else in months, but I'm sure she'll be fine and I'm excited for some one on one time with DH.

Yeah, that! Some placed wont serve hot dogs with ketchup at all, but if you insist they will give you a packet so you can "defile" it yourself ;)

I am from the Chicago area, but we are a military family... hoping to retire there, though! Gonna go to the grocery tomorrow and buy some applegate ones!

I'm sorry your mom isn't more supportive. Babies are wonderful and it boggles my mind when they bring negative reactions. I hope she is happy for you and supportive for the remainder.

My mom was like that with #4, she was so angry and we ended up not speaking for a month. Of course she got over and it and is in love with her granddaughter.
I was so afraid she was going to have the same reaction to this one but surprisingly she took it extremely well.

That is really interesting. I knew it did something to your calcium but I didn't know that. Ugh calcium has become an issue for me. I don't drink milk to begin with, and now I can't have it (only skim) and no cheese. Most things that have calcium also seem to have fat. I'm a litle worried about that, and all the stupid nurse could tell me was "ask your dr" which is great but I'd like to get the calcium in sooner rather than later.

My OB has me take 2 extra strength tums everyday for calcium!

I'm so jealous of your guys talking about food. It's the last thing I want, I can't even look at my kitchen! It's so hard to shove food down. I just read an article about legumes being a miracle cure for ms (hcg= an increase in bile=more nausea but the bile keeps cycling through your body making nausea worse. Legumes bind with the bile and leave your body with your stool which is supposed to really help). My issues is I don't know which legumes taste good... How do you usually eat them?! Any suggestions? I'm dying for some relief :-)

Oh by the way, no more complaining about messy houses... (this is sooo embarrassing)... I have yet to take down my Christmas tree. Poor thing is deader than dead and drooping so bad the ornaments are falling off! I think that makes my house the worst (not that I'm proud of that)!! I'm sure our houses will all be back to tip top shape soon though, right?!

I'm pretty sure that's what my OB is going to tell me too. I'm too lazy to go into my bathroom and see if tums are fat free though, so I haven't taken any. That is REALLY interesting abought legumes and morning sickness, and it makes me wonder all sorts of things. If hcg leads to an increase in bile... I wonder if that's why so many people end up with gall bladder issues during/after pregnancy. And if that's why I'm having issues with my gall bladder so much. hmmmm...

My christmas tree would still be up if DH hadn't insisted it come down. I laid on the couch and watched him deal with the kids and take it down. I told him just to leave it but he insisted. Instead the gifts are all just sitting where it was. Much rather have the tree to hide the gifts instead. At least it was pretty.

I sooooo want a hot dog now! But my favorite is an all beef dog with chilli and frito's on top. Yummy!

And I want to thank whoever started talking about Dr. Pepper in last weeks thread. It was stuck in my head when we were over a friends the other night and I had to have some. It was AMAZING. I don't normally even like DP but it settled my stomach and I was able to eat dinner! So, my no caffeine rule for myself went out the window. oh well.

I haven't wanted to cook lately either. Poor dh. At least he's understanding about it. And I won't even talk about my messy house :( My tree is down but the laundry and dishes are embarrassing. Good thing no ones coming over this week!

Oh, and Angie, I have been taking tums for my calcium too. But I'm not sure on the fat...

Who has the best recycled soaker patterns for newbies? Anyone know?

I use the Sweet Baby Soaker pattern from All Wired Up on hyenacart and I SWEAR by it. I've tried several free patterns and a couple other bought patterns. The Sweet Baby fit my skinny dd and chunky ds both. I found it totally worth the $.

HTH!

I feel a lot better today. I got to 'talk' to Emily- thanks Emily!- AND I drank about 8 oz of coffee. Um, I feel bad, but it made me feel almost NORMAL. I was stuck at the Volco dealership with a seriously messed up car, waiting for a courtesy vehicle, didn't eat anything but trail mix for 4 hours (ya we were stuck there for 4 hours!) yet I didn't puke or faint or scream at anyone. And I came home and ate a huge dinner. And my tummy only hurts a little now, instead of a ton- LOL!

So maybe 1 cup is going to be my solution to try for a few days???

Both my sisters swear by having a LITTLE caffeine every day during pregnancy to prevent the total fatigue. Usually I don't. But man, I need to get outta bed!

I just need to vent about work! The rest of my day was terrible with the exception of the week of prayer speaker. My feet are so blistered from walking too and fro with students. And my hurt ankle is so swollen I can't bend it. A friend of the student we expelled punched out a glass door and another threatened suicide. I got cussed out by a third student (which is technically an automatic expulsion). So much drama and these are all boys. Then a female student passed out from a headache and had to be rushed to the emergency room. I haven't heard if she is ok or not yet. Almost the entire time my 10 year-old is having to babysit my clingy 20 month-old. I feel like a bad and neglectful mother!

On a good note I was so busy dealing with students I ate most of my supper from the cafeteria without even thinking about my ms. When I did think about it I couldn't finish. Weird!

I conquered my dishes yesterday. After almost a week of no water or no hot water I just couldn't catch up. It is impossible to stay caught up on the laundry. And my living room looks like it should be on hoarders! What is hard about hanging a jacket on the hooks BY THE DOOR and placing shoes on the shoe rack BY THE DOOR? Or putting bills/mail in the bill sorter that is BY THE DOOR? Maybe I should move them to the other side of the house? sigh

Yes! Lentils! We love them. If you pair them with brown rice, its supposed to be a whole protien meal (meaning you get all the necessary types in one meal). And they cook so easily -no soaking necessary.

Martha Im sorry about that. I think my in laws might not be supportive but they keep it to themselves. I can kind of understand in our situation (not a ton of $$ around here, im finishing school, weve had some relationship strains) but once the baby is conceived the choice is made and all should make the best of it!!

So are lentils legumes? I have a great lentil and rice casserole recipe. we all love it!

edited- ok, I googled them and yes they are... I got my recipe from 5 dollar dinners blog. Before MS I made this on a regular basis, so good and so cheap!

Lentil and Brown Rice Casserole
Note: When I pulled this from the oven, before adding the cheese, it occurred to me that this would be a fantastic and healthful baby food recipe. Puree the cooked lentils and rice for younger babies, or mush with fork for older babies, or feed as is for “table food” babies!
Ingredients
3 cups broth (chicken or vegetable) (free if homemade)
3/4 cups green lentils, although any color will do ($.30)
1/2 cup brown rice ($.20)
1/2 yellow onion, chopped ($.15)
2 tsp Italian seasoning ($.10)

Here is one from there that's a bit different from mine- no rice, they say to serve it over a salad or with tortilla chips.
Lentil Casserole
Ingredients
¾ cup lentils
½ cup rice
½ tsp basil
¼ tsp rosemary
¼ tsp oregano
¾ tsp garlic powder
3 cup chicken broth (can use water)
Directions
Mix all ingredients in casserole dish. Cover and bake on 300* for 1hr. 45 minutes to 2 hrs. (I stir after 30 minutes to mix in the seasoning.)
Serve over salad and top w/ sour cream. Goes well with tortilla chips. Or serve as a dip w/ tortilla chips and a with salad.

Wow...I must be feeling better today. I've done my morning chores, cooked breakfast, and gotten us dressed. Now I'm just killing time until our playdate! I've even combed out DS's hair. He's biracial (black/white), so this entails copious amounts of detangler, a wide-tooth comb, and about 30 minutes of patience!

Last night I dreamed someone in my family cut his hair short without my knowledge or say-so. I was very angry and ready to physically hurt someone! That isn't my personality type at all. But my dreams got really angry and violent when I was preggo with DS, too. It is just a bit unsettling.

wow reading through these, lots of you are so ambitious, i feel so lazy. i dont want to do a whole lot. my little guy is 15 months and i also babysit a 2.5 yr old and a 12 month old, so its all my energy to get through the day with them, by the time hubby gets home i dont want to do much. looking forward to 2nd trimester, but thankful that i have the queasiness. i COULD go for my first appt as early as today, but the first day that both myself, husband AND dr were all available was friday the 27th, and its killing me to wait 10 more days than i could have. i jsut want to see a heartbeat so bad.
back to work. (though i LOVE this morning naptime. AHHHH).

My hubby started defrosting the freezer last night. UGH! we had at least 8 inches of solid ice in the bottom. It will be at least another day before it is thawed. But this morning I checked to see what is being revealed as the ice was melting.... found some banana bread.... smelled good so I gave some to my 2.5 yo. she loves it! I tried some too.... UM NO.... it totally made my stomach turn over. Guess I will stick with lucky charms! :D

:giggle2: I sooo need to do that too, just waiting for when it's not so full....that'll never really happen b/c I keep stocking & using...I really just need to bite the bullet and get it done.
I made and frosted cream cheese filled cupcakes last nite. I ate 2 and totally regetted it. Normally I could eat 3 and never look back :banghead:. Could I please just enjoy food?
The news is out now! DD is telling everyone that in 101 days she is going to have a new brother or sister :giggle2:

Hello ladies!!

Sarah you're welcome about the DP lol.

Last night we went to dinner at one of DHs coworkers house. Older lady, she just loves my DH lol. Gourmet cook. She made white bean soup, cheese bread, baked ziti and some kind of Italian cake thing but I can't remember the name. Soooo yummy. Didn't stay down long but it was worth it. Had play group today. I'm so glad DS had a ton of fun!! Now were are relaxing a bit before nap time. I ate some bread and butter for lunch. Omg so yummy!!! I'm AA all that delicious crusty bread is gone :(

Just found out that DHs cousin is prego with her first!! We are pretty close so I'm super excited especially since we are only 2 weeks apart!!! Yay!!!

I have been away for the last few days. We went out of town to visit family. DS had a blast and slept in until 10 am which I was grateful for! I am still having nausea and last night I had a horrible headache that wouldn't go away. This morning it was gone though. Cleaning has definitely not been a high priority lately. I wish I had the energy but DH has been pretty good with keeping up with all the slack around here :goodvibes:

Tums are fat free :)

haha thank you. I really can not remember anything anymore. I actually walked into the bathroom once to look last night and couldn't remember why I walked in there. Pregnancy makes me stupid I swear.

Oh, and here's the link to the legumes article. http://www.karenhurd.com/pages/healthtopics/specifichealthconcerns/ht-shc-morningsickness.html
I want to send DH to the store after work to buy some canned beans, but I have no clue what kind(s) to ask for :-/

Thanks for that! I actually just picked up some beans at the store the other day thinking they would be a good side dish because I'm getting so sick of just eating rice!

I may have to try upping my bean intake with all of my gall bladder problems. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Del Monte green beans cold out of the can but I'm not sure if they are actually legumes?

Are lentils legumes? Those are really good too.

cold green beans are good. I actually have no idea what lentils are, man I feel stupid.

1 tsp garlic powder ($.05)
1/2 tsp pepper
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese ($.85) Bought last week when on sale for $1.25 and had a $.45 coupon! Of course, omit if dairy-free.
2 large broccoli heads ($.40) HUGE sale this week!
Variations: This could be jazzed up with spaghetti sauce, salsa, BBQ sauce, parmesan cheese. Whatever suits you!
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 300.
2. Add broth, lentils, brown rice, chopped onion, and spices to 9×13-inch glass baking dish. Stir together and cover tightly with foil.
3. Bake at 300 for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
4. Remove foil and sprinkle shredded cheese over the top and return to oven and bake uncovered for 20 more minutes, or until cheese is completely melted.
5. Steam broccoli in stovetop steamer or in a microwavable dish covered with plastic wrap for 4-5 mintues.
6. Serve Lentil and Brown Rice Casserole with Steamed Broccoli.
Cost $2.05

That sounds soo yummy. I'm so going to make that without the cheese!

Here is a link with a list of common legumes....

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/legumes/NU00260

Thanks for that! It was very helpful.

I've been feeling ok today. But not in a great mood. DH came home from work last night in a bad mood and it put me in a bad mood, and I got no sleep last night so it's not great now (though for whatever reason I have an insane amount of patience with the kids today. I'll take it!). DH is sick, and I'm coming down with it now and it's not fun. It's making my morning sickness even worse thanks to the excess mucous. Yuck.

And FIL told DH that DS is a monster and we're bad parents. This man sees him maybe once a month! And the last time he saw him, he told him he didn't care what he wanted, didn't care what he had to say, and he needed to sit down and shut up. Who says that to a 3 year old!? :banghead: I don't know why it bothers me so much because he's a crappy dad who thinks kids don't deserve opinions and spanking is the only option, but it does. What kind of grandparent says their grandkid is a monster? <---see bad mood.

I'm so ready for this week to be over with. Bring on Sunday and 60 degree temperatures, DH's day off, and next week when we hit 12 weeks and have the ultrasound. This week just sucks.

we had the inside of our house painted over the weekend and it was a MAJOR PROJECT! we took everything off the walls, moved all the furniture, and packed our bags and went to my Dhs aunt's house to stay with them. yesterday evening, we came back to start putting things away. i had NO idea this would be so much work but it looks REALLY good! we will be putting our house on the market at the beginning of next month!

i'm glad to hear that most of our ms is easing up...mine is completely gone. it only lasted 1 week which is EXACTLY how it was with my dds pregnancy. with my son, i was sick during the whole 1st trimester.

Wow does this thread move fast! We are such a chatty bunch.

Well, I've had more bleeding over the weekend. I'm hopeful it's just the one we lost and that there is still one healthy bean in there. Dh and I are really scared though. For some reason, it always starts at night. Contemplating what to do with dd should we have to go to the ER at 2 am (again) is oh, so very fun. I just left a message with the doc's office asking if they can fit me in for a u/s tomorrow (have an appt Friday, but hate waiting!).

On a different note, all the talk on here about Dr. Pepper drove me to indulge in my favorite vice, Coke. And, it actually does make me feel half human! I mean, I have enough energy to stay upright for more than a few minutes for the first time in days.

I love lentils! Dh took me out for my favorite meal over the weekend--Ethiopian Food. I eat the veggie platter which consists of 3 different lentil dishes and a side of collard greens. One eats it with injera ( a spongy sour bread) instead of silverware. My dd loves it too! Yum, I want to go back already. Too bad it's a 30 minute drive.

Wow, ms for a week only?? I'm jealous!

My girl and boy pregos were night and day, but I'm not sure if it means anything since I have friends with both sexes whose pregos were exactly the same. With ds I was only tired, no ms whatsoever. It was like a dream pregnancy. With dd I was puking my guts out. With this one I have ms but no vomiting. Go figure, all different!

Does anyone have a hunch about the sex? I kind of feel like I have a boy. We will find out in about 4 wks from my best friend (us tech). I am not disciplined enough to wait!! :lostit:

I'm thinking girl. But I'm only basing that on what the heartbeat has been. All of my girls have had hb's in the 160's for the entire pregnancy and my 1 boy had a hb in the 130's. This baby has had a consistant hb in the 160's so based on that alone I'm thinking girl.
Of course I could be totally wrong!

We aren't finding out the sex with this one either, I found out with all of the others but I want this one to be a surprise.

I am totally thinking boy, like 95% but that is just based on a feeling!

I had DH take the tree down today finally :-) I have a lady coming to measure our house for new blinds tomorrow (our big picture window doesn't have them at all so I'm pretty excited!). I have a living social deal I have to use up this week, but that also means I need to find the energy to clean up this wreck before I let this poor woman in at noon! Eek! I better get on it!!

Also, while on FB today Rockin' Green (I like their fb page) said "like this post if your pregnant". So I did. I checked my page and it didn't post there so I thought I was in the clear. In 30 seconds or less my aunt had read it and called my mom!! Ahhhh! I told them I accidentally had hit the button whole scrolling through my newsfeed on my phone. Then my aunt said it would be a perfect bday gift for my mom, wink wink. Lol, that is my bday gift for her!! I think they bought it though! FX!! Only a week and a half until the big reveal!!

Also, DH's cousin announced she is due in September. That means in his family we somebody due in may, another 7 weeks later, I'm 7 weeks after her then this cousin is due 3 weeks after me! That's a lot of babies running around!!!

I think boy based on my ms, not as bad like it was with DS, with DD I was sick longer and vomited often. Mostly just ms with this one. I am giving all my boy things to my BFF for her April baby though. She shared ALL her girl things (still does!) and gave me so many baby things so I'll only have girl things! She lives 5 hours away so it won't be easy to share!!!!
Baking bread and the smell is making me sick :( Oh no! I am LOVING white bread right now. I never buy it but it's tasting so so good.

back after a crazy long weekend. Hunny and I got to go away with NO kids :-) It was COLD though... late nights playing games... the food was really good though. I was really nervous about the ms making it impossible to eat the "camp" food, but it was really good! Can I just say how AWESOME it is to be able to confidently leave 6 kids for the weekend? We are SOOO blessed!
I have been eating mint choc covered oreos today... I think it is time for some real food. They are yummy though! Burritos for dinner tonight. I love it when I can just throw stuff together and call it dinner! Precooked frozen taco meat, the last time I made pinto beans, I canned some so the are just needing to be reheated, tortillas, shredded cheese from Costco makes life easy :-) I think we even have some fresh pico de gallo in the fridge :-)
Took the kids to the zoo yesterday and Hunny beat me home. It was SOOO amazing to walk through the door and see him working on dinner! He made cheesy potato soup MMMmmmm It was SOOO good I over ate.

here (http://pregnant.thebump.com/pregnancy/pregnancy-tools/articles/how-big-is-baby.aspx) is a neat website that my daughter BEGS to look at everyday. i'm sure a lot of you have already heard about it...but it compares the size of the baby to fruit and goes week-by-week through the pregnancy.

i keep trying to explain to my 4yo DD that the baby is STILL the size of an olive....just like yesterday! :)

I just bought the sweet baby soaker pattern!

Maureen, what kind of materials have you used with it?

I mostly use sweaters- merino or cashmere or anything soft. 2 layers if it's thin or cashmere. I have also used organic interlock and jersey a couple times, but the sweraters are cuter, cheaper, and fun. I've been collecting them for a couple months and try not to pay over 2-3$ each. I can get 1-2 soakers and 1 longie out of each, depending on size. I only lightly felt mine b4 sewing them up. I wash in Eucalan or Kookaburra.

I was going to make my dipes, too, but I'm leaning towards MotherEase 1 size instead since my babies are big and I'm feeling lazy, and I'll spend most of my 2nd trimester packing, and most of my 3rd MOVING- ugh!

I can make a SB Soaker in under an hour, cut to finish. My best advice is to use the waist band for the waistband and leg cuffs! Make SURE the shorter width of the leg cuff piece is on the bottom edge of the sweater or you'll be sorry- you'll understand when you see the pattern.

ALSO- I shave off a half inch on the tummy to give it a contour, higher in back and lower in front, which I prefer. And I shave off an inch from the soaker waist band width if the sweater I'm using is stretchy to get a tighter fit. Only really felted wool or fleece needs the whole waistband width. A sweater with a stretchy ribbed waistband doesn't need all the width, so I shave off that inch or 2 and strech to fit as I sew.

Clear as mud?

I cooked chicken in the crock pot today that wasn't done in time for dinner. Trying to go to bed and the smell is making me want to puke. Dh is getting sick which is going to be a bad thing for all the poor kids! O well... we'll have to watch movies....

Are "butterfingers" a pregnancy symptom?! I swear I cannot hold onto anything! I just dropped an entire bowl of stew all over the family room floor. I tried to hand my oldest a hair brush this morning and it went flying out of my hands. ugh!

I've had this problem too! I drop EVERYTHING. I know that it is a 3rd trimester symptom since your joints start to loosen in order for you to be able to deliver, but I have no idea why I'm having this problem now. Its driving me crazy!

I too am jealous! Mine tends to start around 5-6 weeks and hang out into the 2nd trimester.

My RE fit me in this afternoon. Bean is hanging on, hb 169. Still bleeding though :/

I am so glad your RE fit you in and the bean is doing well! I have had lots of spotting and bleeding this pregnancy and my little one is still growing fine. HB was 171 last week at 8weeks. My docs just keep telling me it must be from implantation but I freak out everytime I go to the bathroom. It was really bad last Thursday and since then it seems to be lessening. I've even had a couple of days with nothing (and I've had spotting every day since my BFP). Hoping it means 'implantation' bleeding is about done. Anyways, I just wanted to reassure you that you aren't alone. Your spotting is most likely from the twin but it could be some leftover implantation too. ((HUGS))

Oh, and my ms lasted until 18 weeks last time. I am REALLY hoping it doesn't last that long again!

When do you usually have your one week of ms? Is it usually around the same time?

Whew! That was a close call! I'm sure this is going to be the best bday gift your mom's ever received!

All those babies, sooo fun!!! You guys can swap for sitting, too!

Hey ladies...I'm still around. Still not feeling great, infact just feeling sort of worn out and defeated. It's a terrible feeling to be so sick that you have a hard time taking care of your sick kids :( They all have pretty bad head colds, the doctor said one of them has bronchitis. They're slowly getting better!

Anywho, just wanted to let y'all know that I'm still around :)

Me, too (or three)! Dropping things and bumping into things with my hands. I actually smashed my wedding ring against a door and a drawer REALLY hard. I am actually worried I might have loosened the stone I hit it so hard. I took it off and am going to have a jewler give it a check... and then maybe put it in a drawer for a few weeks...

Ugh! Poor kiddos and momma! I hope no one else gets bronchitis.

AFM, I am luckily feeling a lot better. It's lucky because DH is out of town again. He came back in for the weekend and I was laid out on the couch or the floor the whole time and couldnt eat anything. I was really worried about him leaving us again, but I actually haven't felt sick for (knock on wood) two days! It's also lucky since one of my mom-group friends is selling girl scout cookies and I am enjoying them. I also felt good enough to knit after DS's bedtime and made my first newbie cocoon! Next I am going to start a hat to match.

Hey Andrea- where did you go to camp?

Camp was in northern California I believe. Gosh that was like 15 years ago lol. I still have all my pictures and awards from there. I'll have to pull them out and double check. Or I could ask my mom. She was a leader for Guards and then took over as director for awhile. My dad was a pioneers leader for awhile too. Ohh I miss AWANA.

How is everyone feeling today?? I'm doing alright I guess. I ate a whole box of lucky charms yesterday and kept most of it down. Downside to eating the cereal that's full of fiber... Up all night in the potty

Okay so I have to share so I can stop freaking out. So last night I had this horrible dream. I dreamt that I had my baby early at 27 weeks. That wasn't the worst part. My baby was healthy, just small but he had a tail and no feet. From the arms down he was like a sea horse. He would nurse and pee at the same time. So I'm freaking out trying to keep him alive because I delivered in some weird house and I was trying to get my mom to take me to the hospital so he could get help but she kept saying they were too busy and that he was fine. Then when she agreed to drop me off she left before my sister was in the car, ran over her foot and then kept yelling at her to get in, even though she didn't stop and then my sister got hit by a car. I kept trying to get out and help but I had to keep nursing the baby. I was the only one who knew CPR or anything so I had to chose. Thankfully I woke up here. Ugh it was horrible!!

^^wow, crazy dream!! I have some of my most wacked out dreams while preggo.

We all have bad head colds here too. Buckets of green snot, coughing, my throat is sore, just fun all around. I was so sick and miserable on Tuesday that I spent the second half of the day yelling at my 2.5 year old and went to bed in tears & feeling like dog crap for how I treated her. She wasn't even being that bad, just the combo of hormones, this head cold, & the constant nausea just pushed me over the edge. Yesterday they were both driving me so nuts (DD2 has decided that she hates her carseat this week and spends the whole time screaming her head off) that I dropped them both off at a local drop in place so I could go to the grocery store in peace. Best parenting decision of the week.

Oh, and all the hot dog talk earlier made me crave them-luckily that night DH was flying late because I was almost embarrassed that we were having hot dogs and mac n cheese for dinner!

I got some Seabands yesterday for my morning sickness, and they seem to be helping. I have problems wearing it on my right wrist though. Maybe cause I am right handed and use it so much?

My ms is so much worse with this pregnancy. I feel sick all the time. So maybe boy this time around? lol! I want another little girl though.

Happy Birthday to your little one! My godson turned 6 this year. I couldn't believe it!

Tomorrow we're going for our dating ultrasound! WooHoo! I can't wait to see the little guy. I got a doppler in the mail yesterday too (bought on FSOT) but I'm going to wait until our midwife finds the heartbeat for the first time before I try using it myself...

I ate Chinese today!!!! Once a month a church member has Chinese catered to the cafeteria-lo mein, rice, and veggies/tofu. I ate a nice place. Funny thing is, I'm still hungry!

My ms has been very light compared to my last two pregnancies. With the first one I had it the entire 9 months and LOST 30 pounds during the pregnancy. I had to keep going to the hospital for iv's of fluid and nutrients. With #2 I was sick for about 16 weeks, but after that I was fine as long as I didn't try to do any dishes or eat chicken. I have only thrown-up one time with this one so far and just have a low-level of nausea at certain times of the day. I haven't worn sea-bands or used ginger at all. I would like to get hopeful and say this one must be a girl....but that would just be wishful thinking.

What is the one thing I can eat regardless of how sick I feel? Pillsbury ready-to-bake sugar cookies! ha ha ha ha

I can't hold onto anything. You ought to have seen me trying to write on the white board in alg. II this morning! There were markers flying everywhere.

I want some ice cream!

My sis drove our 2nd car down from CT & got here Mon. I got to spend the day with her Tues & she had to leave Wed to get back to school. We went down to the Riverwalk and the Alamo on Tues & walked around for hours...... I'm STILL sore!! I felt like an old woman getting in to bed last night & DH was laughing at me!! But, it was a great visit & she can't wait to come down again! DH's friend & her DB are due to come visit in Feb sometime, my dad might fly down for a few days while DH is out of town for work, and then both my parents & my baby sis (she's 5) are planning on coming down for Easter week! Sooooo excited!!

MS is finally starting to let up a little bit. I'm down to puking every other day-ish. :giggle2: Can't wait for my U/S on the 30th!!

Ugh! What a day!

Yesterday at school my oldest was caught in the middle of a fight. She was not in the fight but got caught when 2 other girls started fighting. She was struck in the back of the head and after taking her to the Dr it was determined she has a concussion. :( She has a horrible headache and is supposed to stay home from school today and tomorrow. Her school is awful, there are fights all the time, crazy things going on between middle school girls and boys that make me blush now as an adult. After yesterday I'm hoping to get her transferred but dang!! when did kids get so mean!

My kids all used to go to AWANA, too! So much fun!!! :) Right now they are so busy with Religious Ed at Church (Catholic) that we haven't had time for AWANA, but we do love it. ;)

Christina- So sorry about your daughter!!! Middle school is the worst- I think it is even worse than high school. I actually pulled my oldest out of school when he was in the 7th grade and homeschooled him. He is now in the 10th grade and it was the best thing I ever did for him!

Kelpagan- What a great idea!!! I want to see a picture. :giggle:

AFM, Since they cancelled my OB appointment, they rescheduled for tomorrow at 1130. I have been feeling ok, with the exception of taking ammoxicillin (sp?) for a sinus infection that I had for 2 months. That medication is making me ill. :yuck: On Monday, we have another u/s to check the bleed that was found last week.

We have had a crazy amount of snow here in the Seattle area-- I am sure you have seen it on your news. :) The kids have not had school for over a week and everyone is getting a bit of cabin fever. I am almost excited to go to work tomorrow. :D

Do you know that in our schools even if you weren't directly involved in a fight but were hit you get expelled for 10 days. I have even gone to a principal to argue for a kid who was caught in the crossfire and there was nothing I could do as the teacher. Made me so mad.

Oh I would have been livid if they had suspended Maddie even though she wasn't involved. I mean they would have had one pissed off mama on their hands if that had been the case. My husband wants the school to pay for her medical bills from last night, I'm not sure. Right now I want them to transfer her to another school that I know is better and if they do that without a fuss then I won't worry about them paying. I don't feel bonded with this baby yet. Is that normal (8.1 weeks)?! I'm hoping after we hear a heartbeat I will be, but for now I feel awful about it. We've wanted this baby for so long and I feel so detached from it. Somebody please tell me they've experienced it and it gets better!

Alliecatn - I agree with what everyone else has said! Totally normal (I know, normal is a bad word these days, but I can't think of a better description) for the first trimester and even into the second. Once you hear heartbeats, see ultrasound pictures, and feel the baby move its much easier to connect! It's happened to a few friends of mine and by the end of the pregnancy they were all completely reversed.

Kelpagan - Loved the Valentine card! Very cute way to announce the baby!

AFM - I still haven't gotten my hot dog... The only store that sells good hot dogs is in the nearest big city... 45 minutes away. I'm going tomorrow, though! I took Joey to the zoo today. It was a beautiful day out and I was so glad to get the exercise.

I don't feel bonded with this baby either, and we've seen it and seen/heard the heartbeat. For me the 20 week ultrasound usually does it. I'm kind of worried what it's going to be like if we don't find out sex. I never bonded with DD during my pregnancy, I think because I was convinced she was a boy, but once she came out...everything changed.

"I don't feel bonded with this baby either, and we've seen it and seen/heard the heartbeat. For me the 20 week ultrasound usually does it. I've had 3--maybe 4--ultrasounds and don't feel connected yet. For me it's half intentional. I've convinced myself a loss won't be as bad if I don't invest my whole heart. Silly thought; it's awful every time no matter how distant I try to be :-( I'm counting on the 7 months ahead to bond.

I try to do the same thing as much as possible. I've lost one and it was really painful emotionally.

I lost her around this time, too, so I'm a little sensitive/paranoid right now (well, found out no hb at about 10 wks after spotting and then mc around 12/13 wks).

The kids are a good distraction though!!

Really it's in God's hands. I trust Him to carry me through with or without another lo. Just the waiting/not knowing is hard.

This is how I feel. I tend to not get too attached in the first trimester just because I have had a miscarriage. Ultimately, though- God is in control. :hugs:

Focusing on this truth is the ONLY thing that can calm me down when the doubts and worries creep in. He always takes care of me, it's just easy to take that for granted at times! At church a few weeks ago they had an amazing message about can we trust God? Yes, he's already proved that so many times! I'm a worrier so it's a message to a listen to often :-)

Thank you so much for all of your replies, ladies. I had been feeling like such a failure as a mom (already!). You've all reassured me a lot. I've tried to bring it up with DH, but he's not scared at all or worried, only excited! This only compounded my feelings! I know I'll tell him soon, but I'm sure he'll take it hard. :-/ He's amazing though so I'm sure he'll surprise me with his wisdom and calm me down even more.

I bought PP and regular cycle pads from the mama at Happy Earth Creations. She has cute fabrics and my pads came really pretty and well made! :) http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1305853

LOL. If you buy something, tell her I sent ya. :)

I am also wanting to buy some for a welcome to your cycle "party" for my DD. Want to start getting a few cute fabrics at a time so I will have an adorable fun stash for her when she needs it.
Alright, mama. Sell me on these. I've considered them before (PP is the only time I'd ever use pads), but I'll be new to CDing and I don't know if I'll want to fuss with these too. Are they worth the trouble? How many would I need if I do decide to go this route?

I don't feel bonded with this baby yet. Is that normal (8.1 weeks)?! I'm hoping after we hear a heartbeat I will be, but for now I feel awful about it. We've wanted this baby for so long and I feel so detached from it. Somebody please tell me they've experienced it and it gets better!

i was just wondering to myself last night this same thing. i have no bond yet, and really no excitement yet other than the initial positive test and getting to tell friends and family. i keep thinking that it's bc something is going to go wrong but in reality, i'm sure i will feel better after seeing the heartbeat....still another week and a half till my 1st appt.

i just don't get why i love ALL babies and yet with this one, i keep focusing on the negative aspect. unfortunately, all the comments from my friends w/ 3 kids have been less than helpful. all i hear about is how i won't be able to keep up with the house and how i won't be able to do anything w/ 3 kids. :(

Hi everyone! This is my first post in this thread so I want to say hello! I am 9 weeks along but don't have an appt with my midwife for 4 more weeks. I am REALLY ready to tell everyone, but wondering if I should wait till after my appt. With my 2 others I blabbed right away, but I had been to the dr. sooner. Anyways, happy to be apart of your group!

Christina - I'm so sorry about your DD. I hope she heals quickly!

Kelpagan - that card is cute. I'm thinking we're going to be doing something similar but with Hershey kisses!

Alliecatn1 - I didn't start to bond with DS until I started feeling him move. Then it was like a little nudge to say "hey, I'm in here!" Otherwise, I didn't really "feel" preggo for a while. My MS was really mild and brief. With this one, I honestly forget I'm pregnant. I'm so busy chasing after DS that it catches me off guard when I get a bout of nausea.

AFM I thought the MS was easing up...but then I just vomited up breakfast in the sink while trying to do dishes. Ugh. It has gotten less debilitating, though. I'm able to eat food other than broth and crackers!

My appointment isn't for another 2 weeks. I'm so eager for it to be here. If for no other reason than to shut down my grandmother's twin-talk!

BTW... Adorable card!!
I think that bonding happens differently for all. When I had my second it was a vbac and I never felt super bonded to him before birth. I was excited for that moment when he'd be born. I expected it to be joyous, like a light shining down from heaven, my husband will have tears in his eyes, we'd laugh and hug and look at our precious son.... yeah, not so much. I was SO very tired from 33 hours of labor and 4 hours of pushing and it was almost midnight, I just thought, Thank you God he's out! And my husband just went over with my son to the other side of the room. THen it took an hour for stitches and then after nursing him we all three slept for about 4 hours or so!!!!

All that to say, when I shared that his birth wasn't what I was expecting and I was a bit disappointed, especially after a c-section with my first, my midwife said that is more common than not, and the Baby Story births are great, but they don't always happen like that. I think it's the same for pregnancy. We don't all have the perfect pregnancy where we eat the exact right things, and feel great and don't swell and have precious little bumps and no weight anywhere else. :)

You WILL bond with this little one. We have lots and lots of time to do it. Hang in there!

Why can't people realize those words ARE NOT HELPFUL? seriously. It's almost like you want to say "you're right, I'll just be stuck at home. Thanks for the encouragement". this will be my 3rd. I think all of it depends on each person and their style and organization and lots of other things!

I didn't say before because it's hard to talk about, I'm trying to focus on God taking care of my squishy but it's been really hard for me to bond this time around as well. With DS and my last pregnancy I was attached the second that little line turned pink. Ive seen the heart beat twice but I'm so scared that when I go in on the 31st it won't still be there. Just like last time. I'm terrified. With my first I never bonded at all with her. Maybe it's because I knew I wasn't keeping her, that she wasn't my baby but even now when I see her (very often) I dont have that pulling on my heart like I do with my DS. (who she adores btw she says she's hoping for a girl this time lol) but I was scared that I would feel that way about this baby. That I wouldn't bond at all. Last night my DH changed all of that. My tummy was really bothering me so he came over, laid next to me, put his hands on my belly and started talking to the baby. He said "you better start ring nice to mommy in there because she's gunna make you feel bad when you come out because she loves you so so much" no joke I started feeling better. The whole time he was next to me I felt great. After he got up after putting me to bed (I hate his night shift right now) I started feeling yucky again. Oh hubby's.

What you're feeling is so normal!!

LOL! Well if you don't like wearing pads normally you really won't like wearing them for weeks postpartum!

I am really sensitive to disposable pads. By day two or three I am itchy, red, and raw or rashy. It started sometime after baby 3 was born. More sensitive skin I mean. So when I was pregnant with baby 4 I was really really nervous about having to wear the disp. pads for several weeks! I talked to the doctor about it and she didn't really have any options for me. lol

So I came on here, I was already headed toward cloth diapering and thought I would see what some of these "green and crunchy" (:D) mamas were doing about their periods!

What I found intrigued me.... they were certainly prettier than disp. pads! :giggle2: So I found a WAHM (couldn't imagine buying those used at that point! still am unsure of the thought....) who had a good looking product and a sale. :) Ordered a few. I think 4. I figured I could wash them each night if I had to but couldn't see spending more than that at first. Plus we didn't have any more to spend.

The first time I pulled up my unders with a cloth pad on. I came out of the water closet in amazement. My husband laughs at the look on my face and goes "WHAT?" I say, "It feels like I am not wearing anything!!" He was confused!

It honestly felt like I was only wearing my underwear. No scratchy pad edge, no fear of sticky side flipping up (ouch)..... I love them! I still couldn't afford to buy more. But by the time my regular cycle resumed I was ready to commit.

Washing for me is super simple. And none of my pads have stains. I wash in Tide powder same as my diapers and regular laundry. On my first couple heavy flow days I rinse in cold water. (If I am out (like disneyland!) I don't rinse right away, do it later at home). Then once it drains a bit I pour a little hydrogen peroxide on it. and toss it in a pail I have just for my mama cloth. On my lighter flow days I just pour on the H2O2 and drop it in the pail. Then when I wash I do a cold rinse on small load (I only wash my pads in the load). Then Warm or hot with a small amount of soap, rinse in a full water load, and I usually hang dry them because we are usually low on propane! LOL

Also- I have noticed this and so have others for their own periods... when going from disposable products to reusable.... My period has gotten lighter and a tiny bit shorter! I don't even really have much cramping now either! Both of which to me are AWESOME(!!) benefits!

When my regular cycle returns I will be looking into getting one of the internal methods.... I do miss tampons- especially in the summer swim season!! :( But I am generally not willing to take the risk that my period will return full force..... :) So I will be looking into a diva cup or the like....

I feel the same way...I trust God but at the same time that mama bear part of me is TERRIFIED. My friend offered to do an us for me when they couldn't hear the hb w/ a doppler at my 8 wk appointment (as did my mw) and I didn't want to go in b/c I'm afraid something will have gone wrong.

It's really awesome that you have an open adoption. I admire when people are mature and care enough to do that because I can imagine it can be hard.

What your dh did made me tear up! That is so very precious!!!! What love!

(Yeah, my ms has been replaced by hyperemotions! :giggle:)

Well there's no way around the pads for PP, right?! (somebody please interject here and surprise me!). So 4 should be enough? It's so funny you brought up the diva cup! I bought a size one on babysteals but before my next period came I got my BFP! I'm so thankful I hadn't taken it out of the package! I found another deal recently again and got a size 2 so I'm prepared now :-)

LOL- I had just bought a few new panty liners for last days and a new mama cloth bag. They came like the day after I got my BFP! I was like oh well guess I won't need those for quite awhile! :D

I actually would get a few more if you can afford it. I am going to get at least 2 more PP pads maybe 3 if I can swing it. I will use the disposables in the hospital though. During those really heavy flow days the disposable pads don't bother me so much. and I don't trust my hubby to wash my cloth!! :P I use the PP pads at night the first night of my regular monthly cycle anyway. so I will just have choices! It's really awesome that you have an open adoption. I admire when people are mature and care enough to do that because I can imagine it can be hard.

Her story is quite amazing and a miracle to be honest. I couldn't imagine my life without her!

When I was 17 I was raped and as a result I became pregnant. Growing up the way I did I personally do not believe in abortion. I chose adoption for her. Unfortunately I was really young and did not have the emotional experience to deal with everything. I was going through. I made the horrible decision to not tell my parents about my pregnancy. I went away to college and thought they would just never know. I was ashamed and told no one that I knew. While visiting my best friend I went into labor but was so sick I couldn't explain why was happening. I started having seizures and thankfully my bf knew exactly what to do. She delivered her and kept me from convulsing on to her while waiting for the ambulance. I was not conscious for any of this. In fact I did not regain consciousness for 4 days. We were both rushed to the hospital where I was sent to surgery and she was sent to the NICU. She was born at 32 weeks and to this day the DRs can't figure out how she survived in the birth canal while I seized nor do they understand how I survived. Now during this time my parents had been struggling to conceive, part of why I was so scared to tell them. When they arrived at the hospital they were told I would likely pass away in a day or two but that they could spend time with the baby. They were awarded temporary legal custody of her while I was in a coma so that they could make medical decisions for her. When I recovered they asked if they could raise her. It's unconventional, but she saves my family. My father was having an affair but when she came along he became so devoted to our family. She knows that I had her. She knows her story, except for her conception, and is very well adjusted. Awhile back someone asked her how she felt about it (who does that to a 6 year old??) and her response was "God put me in Andreas tummy so my mommy and daddy could love me" she kinda blew me away. She comes to visit me during the summer and I go home quite often to visit. When I had DS I gave her the choice (with Consent form mom and dad) to be sissy or auntie. She told me that she just wants to be Hailey. This little girl is destined for great things.

Okay that was quite a bit..... I think I may need a nap now.

We're planning on not finding out either and I wondered if this might be the case. Did you want a boy or girl (when you thought DD was a boy)?

I wanted a girl, but I just swore she was a boy for some reason. The day before she was born, we had an ultrasound and the tech told me I was insane for not believing she was a girl, and did a check for me again. lol, I was still a little surprised when she came out.

i just don't get why i love ALL babies and yet with this one, i keep focusing on the negative aspect. unfortunately, all the comments from my friends w/ 3 kids have been less than helpful. all i hear about is how i won't be able to keep up with the house and how i won't be able to do anything w/ 3 kids. :(

I keep getting negative comments too. I was talking to my MIL about how we wanted to clean out the woods behind out house but it was hard because we needed 2 people but you have to have someone watching the kids, and her response was "well what do you think 3 will be like? you're never going to do it now" Then my mom said something about how I'm never going to get a break now and how am I going to handle that? I told her we were going to sell one of the kids. Why do people ask stupid stuff like that? What do they expect us to do? Seriously sell a kid? I don't have a time machine, can't change it now!

Andrea- what an amazing story!

You know I have been thinking about the parental negativity a lot of us are getting. And as I think about it makes me sad. But I was just trying to put myself in my mom's shoes and think about why she does that. Well I got to thinking about how I feel when my 10 year old is overwhelmed with a commitment she has taken on. And how I want to lift the burden for her. I think maybe part of it is that my mom sees how tired I am .... and what a mess my house is in.... and maybe some part of her mourns a bit for the joyous life she envisioned for me when I was a baby in her arms.

I think about the hopes I have for my kids and the life I want them to live and wonder if it is less that she thinks I can't do it and more that she wishes it was easier. And that more of my dreams that I have had to put on hold could come to fruition. They aren't better or worse dreams .... but they are still my hopes for the future..... And I think sometimes she forgets that I have chosen to set those aside for a different dream.... heck sometimes I forget. I don't think it is the kids she "resents" (that may not be the right word. :/ ) I think it is the struggles she knows will come.

maybe this rambling doesn't make sense to anyone else.... but it made me feel good to write.... I am crying.... lol.... maybe I can try and be a little more patient with her. And understand that she really (I think) wants the best for me. And really does love all her grand-babies. And she really does love me even when and especially when it feels like she is saying that she doesn't think I can do it. Because she sees me when I am stressed and doesn't want that for me.

This takes sense. I know my mom stresses a bit thinking I'll get sick or that I won't finish my nursing degree. You just can't stop life. You have to follow your heart. I hope she feels honored that I chose to be a mommy just like her. I hope that your mama sees that even though you may be stressed that this is the life you want. Kids are only so little for awhile.

Oh as for your other question she is a 9-1-1 operator. She loves being able to help others and loves her job. I think I may have turned her off to the child delivery scene :) she has 2 great step sons and is still a huge part of my life :)

Thank you ladies for your support!

Martha I think thats really insightful. Having children really is a huge challenge no matter how rewarding it is. Children take and take and take and its hard to maintain the energy to parent well.
I agree that your mom probably just wants to see her baby girl reaching her dreams.
I think most of the women on this thread can relate to putting their dreams on hold in order to focus on motherhood (which as u mentioned is def so a dream and privilege!)
Im actually really curious now. What, if any, dreams have you all put on hold in order to raise your families?
And why is everyone making me cry today??!!

I have been working pt to finish my bs in psych. for the past 3 yrs. this is my last semester and I was planning on starting my grad degree in clinical psych in august
But thats not happening now!

I have very strong empathy and intuition and my dream is to be a christian counselor so that I can facilitate real and lasting healing in peoples life by bringing them to the fount that never runs dry!!

Ive been through about 3 yrs of cc myself and God changed my life through it
Bc I learned how to depend on Him above all things.

I want to be an RN but specialize in Neonatal. So in other words my dream is to be a NICU nurse. I have such a passion for this. I have all my undergrad done and was accepted in California into nursing school but the Little miss came along. I strayed for a bit and then joined the army to finish school. I loved every second in the army. Then along comes DS. I wouldn't trade my time home with him for anything. I decided that I wanted to be a SAHM for awhile. I think this may be our last little one so I'm thinking when DS starts school I will go back. I'm already looking into it. I will finish. Lol

I thought I put being an architect on hold to raise my son. Turns out those degrees and all those hours of internship were just my way of passing time until I was ready to be a mom. I just have to take the tests to get certified. I *do* still want to get certified; the urgency I felt before DS has waned, though.

I love the freedom being a SAHM has afforded me and I know I am very blessed to be in a position to do so.

I didn't put off anything to raise my family. I'm so lucky to be doing exactly what I've wanted to do my entire life. Ever since I was a little girl I knew all I wanted to be was a wife and mother. I really don't know what I would do if I didn't have kids, I love just being a mom. I love making lunches, getting them off to school, making dinner at night. I love it. When the kids are grown and out of the house I'll probably be lost.

Still won't be in the delivery room..

We live over by the airport! My cousin's DH is a staff oncologist over at BAMC. I plan on delivering at Baptist since it's the closest hospital to me. My cousin had one of her kids there.

Wow. What an amazing story!! Isn't it amazing how God weaves everything into his plan?!

I wanted a girl, but I just swore she was a boy for some reason. The day before she was born, we had an ultrasound and the tech told me I was insane for not believing she was a girl, and did a check for me again. lol, I was still a little surprised when she came out.

That sounds like us! We want a a girl but I swear it's a boy. You're making me rethink the whole not finding out thing. I guess I still have plenty of time to decide!

No dreams on hold here... I got pregnant with my DS1 at 16, delivered at 17. He will be 5 this week.. I graduated HS May after he was born, turned 18 Aug. after he was born, got married in Sept that same year & also started my freshman year of college. I had to W/D twice due to hard miscarriages but I graduated last month with my degree in Nursing.

My DS2 came along during school, and I went back within a week after his birth, after being in clinicals at 40w pregnant.

I'm searching for a job, but not having any luck... hopefully something will come along soon. I havent figured out how this pregnancy will affect that, but we'll see how the next few months play out.

:goodvibes:

Andrea, such a sweet story! That little girl is a huge blessing, for sure.

It really depends on where you live. There is a nursing shortage everywhere, but some states are much harder to get a job in. It took me a full year (march-march) to find my first nursing job. It sucked, I hated it and was stuck there for 18 months, but it gave me the experience to get a job that now I LOVE! Good luck and don't get discouraged! You'll find the right job at the right time and place!

Andrea - I am speechless so I'll echo what the others have said and add that I'm honored that you shared your story with our group!

I am fortunate like Christina and Lori - no dreams on hold! My only real planned goals in life were to complete college and to "work" in some sort of public service. The Air Force gave me the opportunity to do both! When DH and I decided to have DS, we agreed my public service would be as a supportive military wife and to raise good citizens (my boss used to tell me that was his community service project - to raise good citizens). =) Someday I'd like to get my graduate degree, but I can't say that its on hold because I dont know what I want to do when my kids are in school full time... have more kids? lacation consultant... US Forestry engineer... organic pick-your-own farmer... who knows!

I agree, absolutely beauitful. And I'm sitting here wondering if there's any way I could make the very hungry caterpillar cake for my DS's 4th birthday. I'm planning on making that his room theme and the birthday cake would be awesome. Hmmmm...maybe DD's first birthday?

I didn't put off anything to raise my family. I'm so lucky to be doing exactly what I've wanted to do my entire life. Ever since I was a little girl I knew all I wanted to be was a wife and mother. I also feel this way. I have my associates in accounting, which basically amounts to nothing, and I won't ever do anything with it. I basically got it to kill time while DH was deployed. If I didn't have kids...I'd get my degree in early childhood education. I'd work in a daycare, or maybe like a preschool. But I am where I want to be.

Angie- I tell people that for the most part fondant is like playing with playdoh that tastes good! :) Just don't waste money on Wilton unless you want only children to eat it! :) Duff makes a pretty good fondant that I have seen at Michael's Crafts and Walmart. And it comes in lots of colors. The precolored stuff is super duper easy to work with. When you get into covering the cake or coloring / making your own- that is when it can get sticky (literally!!).

Wish I could respond to all the threads I want to!

Andrea- ty for your story, amazing and inspiring.

Baby #3 was easier for me than Baby #2. Much smoother transition- I am a minimalist and relatively organized. I feel like a clutter-free house goes a LONG way in keeping things under control with 3 soon 4 kids underfoot ALL DAY (we homeschool).

I can wear sposie pads some when NOT postpartum, but I have had TERRIBLE allergic reactions to sposies after birth and now I will only wear cloth during the postpartum time.

These days I am actually a bit dissillusioned with staying home. But come to think of it, not till morning sickness set in, so hopefully it will pass- LOL! I am just exhausted, I guess, and wondering how life could be different? That being said, I chose to NOT pursue a career after college and I was then really dissillusioned with higher education and my chosen career path.

In reality, I wouldn't have it any other way. I just wish I had help sometimes- a mom, MIL, or Gma to come over now and then.

My mom was really wanting me to go to medical school. Last year she was trying to convince me that 30 is SO YOUNG and I should start medical school NOW. Um... ya. And who is going to nurture my 3 kids while I spend 12 hours a day studying and going to classes? Her? Snort! She has become a better mother than she was when I was a kid/ teenager, but she can still really drive me nuts.

Way weird was, the other day she called and apologized for not being more sensitive to my needs when I was young. At first I was like, too lottle too late- but really, I know it cost her pride a lot to admit that.

Yesterday I vomited EVERYTHING. Today I drank a cup of coffee and ate very healthily and well and kept it all down, plus walked a mile.

I made chicken soup and apple crisp for dinner (haven't cooked all week!). Tummy hurts but I don't think I'm going to puke- yay!

BTW, that bonding feeling only lasted a day or 2... I'm kinda back to just being irritated that I'm pregnant and unable to live normally- LOL! I didn't bond with baby#2 till after birth.

Hope everyone is going to have a great weekend!!!

My mom does the same thing. She has told me she wasnt born with a maternal instinct. I think she has a little more than she gives herself credit for but it was deeply hidden while she was "raising" us.

I would like to become a lot more
Minimalist. I am not a natural at organization so I think less stuff to have to organize would help. Plus stuff makes cleaning a bigger chore We r planning on moving and a lot will not come with.

My son just read me a fun fact out of the book he is reading.....

"If you grew as much in your 2nd 9 months as you did in your first, you would be a towering tot taller than mountaintops and heavier than 2.5 million elephants!"

It then goes on to give some real math.... a baby's weight at fertilization is less than 35 billionths of an ounce. If the baby weighs 7.5 lbs at birth its weight increased 3.5 billion times!! soooooo if the baby did that in the 2nd 9 months it would weigh 26 billion pounds (13 million tons!!)!! AND a fertilized egg is about .004 inches in diameter, so if baby was 20 inches at birth the increase was about 5000 times! So in the 9 months after birth, if baby grew the same rate it would be over 1.5 miles tall!!!

DUDE! No wonder we are tired!! Those babies are doing some serious work!!

FYI- this is a really neat book... It is called "If You Hopped Like A Frog" By David M. Schwartz. Really fun!

Before kids came along for me...I was cooking in a nursing home. Sounds pretty boring, but I loved it. I went to the local technical school for Culinary Arts after HS b/c I didn't want to do 4 years of school, and I liked to cook, and didn't know what else to go for. What a lucky guess!! It's till my true passion.
If I was really going to dream...if I hadn't met DH in HS, then I like to dream that I would've cooked on a cruise ship and seen differnt tropical places and cooked exotic foods :-) Yeah, kinda a stretch I know. I'm smack dab in the middle of land, as far away from any ocean as you can get.
Before #2 was born, I was FT dietary manager at a local nursing home. After I went back to work after DS was born, I was BUSY working FT, wife to a farmer, so I was doing outside chores, inside chores, and it was a lil overwhelming. I really have to hand it to the WOHM who do that!
Then the local bank had an opening for PT teller with FT benefits. That never happens in this small town area. I got the job, and love the hours, benefits, flexibility. I really do miss cooking, but I have been asked to cater weddings for our church the last couple years. It usually happens about 2x a year, and I love it, and usually get rave reviews.
So maybe when kids are grown...

First let me say I'm a little overwhelmed by all your support ladies. It means a lot. I had 2 aunts that did not understand at all and as a result we weren't friends. One has since come around and now gets why I made the decision I did. Thank you.

Ooh cooking for weddings sounds stressful but so fun!! I've done the floral arrangements for quite a few family members and had a blast! Weddings are so fun!!

The last couple of days have been awesome. I've had energy and been able to eat. Then this morning was a disaster. My headaches came back, the puking and over all feeling like poo. Right now I'm trying to eat some cheese. It's the only thing that sounded good...

Wow.. what an incredible story and an incredible gift you gave your daughter and parents. You are an amazing woman!!!

I was pregnant with my oldest at age 16, graduated high school a year early (my son was 5 mo old) and went straight to nursing school. I now work part time as a STAT/PICC RN and L&D RN and it really is great. I would rather be a stay at home mom but financially we just can't swing it with a mortgage. I hope that one day my husband will have his own company and I can work 2 evenings a week instead of 2-4 eve/week. I love nursing but I also love being at home, making my house a home. I have gotten specific with my prayers and I know God will answer them. ;)

I want to be a licensed baker with a commercial kitchen.... special order only... NOT a bakery. I would like to have room to have a classroom to do birthday parties or bridal shower/parties........ Every time I think I might be getting closer.... LOL.... I get pregnant! :giggle2:

:thud: Amazing work!!!

Good work, Lori! You should be incredibly proud of yourself!!

Okay so I'm almost 10 weeks not too far along, but I already have a little belly! The bloats been gone for awhile now. My pants are uncomfortable so I have to use my bellaband and wear them unbuttoned. Am I the only one??

I haven't broken out the bellyband yet, but I have been using a rubber band to give my jeans a bit more room. ;) I am 11 weeks today. I am sure I am a bit more fluffy than you (size 14) and my uterus is posterior so I typically start showing around 15 or 16 weeks- once my uterus comes forward a bit. :D

I just cannot seem to get off my butt today. It's raining cats and dogs with tons of thunder and you would think it was summer. I have managed to wash and dry a couple of loads of laundry and fold some towels but that's it. My kids rooms look like they belong on hoarders. sigh.

I love cooking, and baking, I think I would do something like that if it weren't for the fact I'm soo picky. You can't be a cook without being willing to try the foods you're making to know they're good.

My mom does the same thing. She has told me she wasnt born with a maternal instinct. I think she has a little more than she gives herself credit for but it was deeply hidden while she was "raising" us.

This sounds like my mom. She has no maternal instict. She's surprised me a few times with my kids, but as far as me and my brother go...she missed it with us. I think that's why she makes the comments she does. I don't think she would have had kids if we hadn't been accidents.

:)

lol, I tried the Wilton stuff for DS's birthday, just got a little to see how it would be, but that stuff was HORRIBLE. I trashed it and did it all by hand with buttercream. I liked your page on fb so I can show DH the cake. I was stuck on a theme for DD's birthday, and very hungry caterpillar definitely fits her, she loves food and I love the ideas you can do with it! I didn't want to do a meal because I can't eat much and it'll be too cold to cookout, and now I can do finger foods with the foods he eats. Perfect. haha can you tell I'm excited? I've hit an obsession with VHC and this fits in perfectly.

I just cannot seem to get off my butt today. It's raining cats and dogs with tons of thunder and you would think it was summer. I have managed to wash and dry a couple of loads of laundry and fold some towels but that's it. My kids rooms look like they belong on hoarders. sigh.

My whole house looks like it could be on hoarders. It started before the holidays and when morning sickness hit it just got worse. There's a pile about 2 feet tall on my dresser when normally there's little to nothing on it. I think my morning sickness is disappearing, which has me excited. I can't wait to be able to do stuff and feel normal again, but I have no energy. I can't make myself get up and clean or do laundry. Maybe tomorrow....

Ur not the only one! I still can fit in most of my bottoms, but some are more comfy with a rubber band. It has been this way with all my kids. I have a small body/frame and tilted forward uterus (i've been told:blush:) so evidently those factors don't help me out. Even when I'm not prego, when i get bloated I look pg. So I'm kinda doomed in that area.
I am amazed at how much better I feel this week (it's only week 9). I'm very glad, but reserved b/c usually it lasts a lil longer. We'll see what next week brings I guess. I still get tired, but at least I can prepare and eat most meals/foods.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Cruises!!! My favorite! Whenever I go on one I always say I'm going to go try to take the nurse's job!! My fear is that it would take a lot of the magic away if I worked on the ship versus being pampered on it!
Okay so I'm almost 10 weeks not too far along, but I already have a little belly! The bloats been gone for awhile now. My pants are uncomfortable so I have to use my bellaband and wear them unbuttoned. Am I the only one??
TOTALLY!! And I'm only 8 and a half weeks! We are headed to the mall right now and I have my belly band on and I'll be wearing my sweatshirt. If I suck it in I look fluffy, when I relax I look 4 months! I Haha! I can still button my pants, but they make me nauseous when they're tight :-)

Even when I'm not prego, when i get bloated I look pg.
Ditto! Glad I'm not alone on that one!

Also, we broke out the Doppler. It's easy to get 125 with an occasional 135-9 but sometimes I'll see a 160-170 pop up. I can never hear the 160-170 though. I know with some machines (pulse ox) the numbers can jump around and not be right. What do you guys think? If the number is there (170) then something must really be there or just artifact? Maybe it's the 135s (though it should be higher) or maybe I'm just not getting anything? I know it's still early but we are planning on telling our close friend tomorrow because he's a part of how we're telling DH's family.

Honestly at this point anything. I would like to end up in hospice or oncology though. I was a CNA on a hospice floor and loved it for the two years I was there!

I dont know of anywhere here that offers maternity leave, but I will take that as it comes! I am assuming I will have a week off if I'm lucky.

I enjoy the maternal / infant side of nursing but I think my personal views would interfere with my ability to provide good care to some Mamas unless I was in a birth center.

And thank you!

Didn't really bother me but told him I'd puke if I do anything, well I got up and started dinner and :yuck: O well now I feel better!

I'm right there, too! I'm right around 10 weeks and I can fit in my pants, but they are uncomfortable to say the least and by the end of the day make me want to throw up... so maybe by that definition I can't fit in them...

I also cannot find maternity pants that don't have the stretchy tummy thing ANYWHERE in this or the neighboring town. I'd really rather not buy them online since I am so picky. I think a road trip is in order when DH gets home!

I am only in maternity pants now. And I am officially in my 2nd trimester!!

Hooraaaaay for 2nd trimester! I can't wait to see more of these posts!

whew! these threads grow fast! We are back up at our old house up north for a few days. We'll be up here monthly because I want to deliver at the hospital here. This is where we know people here and it's closer for my family to come when the baby comes.

I'm 11 weeks3 days and definitely showing! There was a lot of fluff so no one is thinking anything yet. But I'm either using my bella band or maternity. We'll tell this week provided the dr. apt goes well tomorrow.

Martha, you mentioned that your AF is lighter using mama pads? That's interesting. Do you know why that is? Mine have been lighter with each baby but I'm a tampon girl. :)

Well I don't feel so abnormal now. My pants fit (I'm a 6) but if I drink or eat anything I'm so uncomfortable that it's just easier to use the belly band.

This morning started off horrible I threw up my banana, waffles and vitamin. Ugh I feel like I did 200 sit ups. It hurt so bad! I'm feeling a little better now. I kept down some oatmeal. Lately I have had to spend so much time in the bathroom  I keep telling myself that it's just a few weeks longer!

I will not be doing any belly shots for a while. After 4 and now 5 kids my poor stomach muscles have called strike and are refusing to work. I have a sad pooch that will not actually look like I'm pregnant for a few more months.

But I'll have fun looking at all of you skinny minnies and your cute little bumps! :giggle:

Well, I had coffee on Friday and Saturday and had tons of energy, but today I crashed. Couldn't even drag out of bed to go to Church with the fam. I feel really weak despite plenty of food... need to go eat again. Maybe I'll have a half cup of coffee again- LOL!

Cute bellies, ladies! My waist is just getting... thick now that most of the bloating is gone. I can wear normal jeans again- phew. I tried some maternity pants on at Motherhood and I HATE the new waistband they are doing that SQUEEZES you- yuck! Hope the weather warms up so I can wear my maternity capris.

Happy Sunday!!!

Am I the only one that feels super crappy? Fatigue, weak and lots of food aversions. I am having a really hard time chugging down the water, but if I don't I am getting really dizzy. :yuck:

Tomorrow we go back for another ultrasound to make sure the bleed by the baby is getting smaller. From our previous quick u/s it looks smaller so I am very hopeful. My husband will be going with me. That will be nice since I typically don't have him come to my appointments. :)

Lori-- any nursing field would be wonderful.. I used to be chemo certified and worked oncology for a few years. It is so wonderful and nice to form relationships with patients. Definitely takes a special person to work oncology or hospice. :D

About the menstrual cloth: I agree about it decreasing your flow and cramps. I don't know why but it really does. I have some cloth but haven't used it in a while. Since we have a cousin in law living with us I haven't used it because I would be embarrassed if he saw them. :giggle:

Ok, I am watching Courageous (a movie) and laying down. Have a great night ladies!!

W have bad experience with Facebook and pregnancy people finding out first hand on Facebook :(

We had this problem, too, with my first pregnancy which is why we ended up announcing the pregnancy at... 5 weeks or so (very early for my liking) for damage control. This time I swore everyone I told to secrecy and repeated about six times not to hint at anything on facebook. I was still terrified it would get out and was relieved to just go ahead and tell everyone. It's why I hate facebook (even though I love facebook).

When my DH was coming home from a deployment my Aunt posted on facebook how excited/proud she was and put his name, where he was, and when he was coming home on facebook! :banghead: Luckily she had the wrong info... but my cousin who is also a military wife was very upset and publicly yelled at her and caused all sorts of family drama!

Feeling awful here too. Still very tired at 9 weeks; I could really sleep all day I think. And my diet has really taken a turn for the worse. I haven't identified any particular aversions, but am just not interested in most food. That's pretty much me, however, that's a turn for the GOOD for me. I felt worse than that two weeks ago. I couldn't even eat. I was ready to check myself into the hospital. I have seriously never been so sick! I'm still nauseated, weak and dizzy. Anything I eat will upset my stomach or make me gassy, but I'm at least ABLE to eat now which is giving me a little bit more strength. I lost 6lbs so far and haven't gained any back.

I hope you feel better soon!

You're brave watching Courageous while you're pregnant! INCREDIBLE movie, but i watched it BEFORE I was pregnant and sobbed like a baby through most of the movie lol I hope you had a box of tissues on hand!

AFM~ I'm 9 weeks and a few days and find that even though I can fit in smaller pants than I could before I was pregnant (b/c I've lost so much weight being sick) that my back is KILLING me in the mornings! I'm pretty sure that's a good sign of a growing baby/ uterus, but it's still uncomfortable lol I wish I could tell if I was showing yet, but I still have a pooch from my 4 other children.

I'm jealous.. I look like that when I'm not pregnant!

I think that I will not refrain from puking anymore, it feels alot better afterwards. :yuck: Everything little thing is setting me off. My poor hubby. I told him its not going to last forever, he kinda got alittle upset about me not doing anything but complaining & staying on the couch. Didn't really bother me but told him I'd puke if I do anything, well I got up and started dinner and :yuck: O well now I feel better!
Just a few more weeks, just a few more weeks.

My DH has been great but he's mentioned more than once that he doesn't believe that I feel sick when I stand up. I told him fine I'd do stuff but I wouldn't go out of my way to make sure when I did get sick it didn't end up on him, and I wouldn't be cleaning it up either. I was in a bad mood that day.:giggle2:

interesting, I just hit 10 Weeks today. W started telling more family this weekend.but its not open subject for most friends yet there is still grandparents that need to know before it gets facebooked....
I had to blasted out my aunt on the phone because she posted her 'niece was pregnant' and it could only be me or 2 other girls and I know she just found out about me so she was excited...

W have bad experience with Facebook and pregnancy people finding out first hand on Facebook :(

We had this problem with this pregnancy, over a stupid quote that had nothing to do with pregnancy and SIL and her mom and a bunch of immature crap. They took it upon themselves to announce I was pregnant when they didn't even know. And my crazy MIL from then on assumed everything was because I was pregnant. I asked her to watch the kids so I could go to the dr for my gall bladder, she assumed I was lying and pregnant. Went to the ER on Christmas Eve for my gall bladder, she assumed I was lying about it and we went for the pregnancy. :headscratch: Big headache.

On a side note, do me a favor and lets not EVER mention rice or curry. The smell, the site, or even the THOUGHT makes me so sick! K? :giggle:

I've been waking up with my back hurting too. Not fun. And I also am having issues with rice. Probably one of the worst foods ever coming back up.
