Just curious. I nurse on both sides without rolling over, I just lean more for ds to nurse on the top side. I guess I just assumed that's how everyone did it, but my gf rolls her baby on to the other side at night when it's time to switch breasts...

i've never figured out to nurse from the top boob :headscratch: so he feeds on the left, lays on my tummy to burp and then we roll over! and that took a good while to figure out -LOL
altought the last few nights i "think" he's sleeping more at night bc i'm waking really full on one side!

as she's gotten bigger & my bbs have gotten more limber i can now feed from both bbs w/o rolling over (heck, i can even lay on my back now - lol)....however, at night i tend to scoot her over & then get on the other side of her. it's not as elegant as the rolling solution, but that never worked well for us.

Same here. I also don't like feeding from the top boob because I'm worried I might squish him if I'm too tired. Would you believe that this is the first baby I have successfully BF laying down and he is my 4th. I would have gotten soooo much more sleep if I had figured this out about 8 yrs ago.

We roll. I probably could feed from both with him on the same side but I've gotten so used to rolling that it's just habit.

I voted "nurses on both sides without rolling over". This is how I do it with my toddlers, which is what I'm nursing now. When they were babies though, I would roll myself and them over when it was time to switch sides.

I only nurse my daughter on one side the whole night. But then again, she's two and mostly does it for comfort. When she was an infant we rolled over and switched sides.

With the boys, I'd roll them with me and switch sides. My dd is having problems with nursing (thrush, clamping the nipple) so I've been pumping for awhile and now finally, she's back on the breast. So, for now I think I'll sit up and nurse because we're using a nipple shield and I'm not sure I can do it well enough laying down. Make any sense? lol...

I nurse the bottom boob first, then kind of lean over and stay on the same side and just nurse from the top one. I've been doing that since her first night and it has worked well for us. I tried rolling a few times, but we are both more comfortable on our respective sides!

i roll us both over, but then i always put him back to the side of the bed with the bedrail. so i TEND to nurse more on that side at night, i think, so in the morning when DH gets up (i have about 15 minutes in bed still), i nurse DS on the other side to make sure things are "evened out" :) before i go to work in the morning!

We do the same thing. When DS was a newborn, my breasts were HUGE and buried him, so he slept on top of a pillow and I nursed him off my top breast. Now that he's a total chunk, he easily nurses off top and bottom without either of us moving. :goodvibes:

once we got the hang of laying down and nusing in the dark, I would roll with him on my belly, like Meg...
Now he sleeps straight through the night so I don't have to worry about it.

At first, I used to sit up and nurse. Once he turned about 6 mos. he would squirm onto me to nurse. I normally sleep on my back anyways so he nurses during the night laying on my tummy. When he's done, he unlatches and we roll over.

I do option 3. I just put a boppy behind me so I can kind of lean up on that rather than trying to lay on my side unsupported. I wasn't able to side nurse until DS was about 4 months. Getting up to nurse was a huge pain.

We do whatever happens to work for me in my sleepy fogs! Some nights i will just lay there and roll towards her a bit more to get the top boobie to her mouth & switch off feedings. Other nights im so incredibly tired I completely forget which boobie i did last and end up waking up at 7:30 am with the top one engorged and realize i didnt use that one. But rarely if ever do i roll over to the other side and move her as well.

I feed on the side closest to the mattress first and then lean over a little more and nurse on the other side. That way the squished side is empty :)
When nursing the first few weeks I couldn't do this as easily as it was uncomfy since I was so engorged. Then I'd toss the baby on my other side and roll over LOL
But now it's no big deal and I sleep naked so it's really easy to do without fully waking.

My boobs are too small to do that....that would be VERY nice to do tho!!! I wish my boobs were bigger! DS always gets really woken up when we switch over! I did end up trying last night and my back starting cramping up b/c of the weird angle it was at trying to get my boob down the hungry mouth!!!! hahaha

When she was little, I sat up, scotched her on her little towel over and then flipped myself over. It was a PIA b/c w/the dogs in bed, I’d get pinned down.
Now that she’s bigger, and my boobs are floopier and have more ‘reach’ I just rollover more at an angle and dangle it her way and she does the rest.
Sigh… I’m not sure if that’s progress or not!

I usually did the roll-n-nurse...I figured out how to do "the lean" for the top boob, but I had to stay awake...which defeated the point...LMBO I found that if I just rolled him over, I could fall back asleep while he nursed. Plus, it gave my arms a break, they were the pillow of choice for both boys.

I had a problem with only nursing one breast at night (my better producer, too) and my other breast would be so full in the morning that I'd nurse from it for 2 or 3 feedings in a row and then my night-boob would be too full again! So I usually do the roll-together option, but I always roll her back to the inside of the bed after she's nursed. If I do the last feeding with my day-boob (haha) then I go all night with just the night boob. I can feed from the top boob while sidelaying, but it's impossible for me to relax like that so I only do it when she's being really persnickety about staying asleep.

I tend to leave her in the middle of "my spot" and I move to the other side of her if I have to, though I try to block feed as much as possible.

For the top boob I just sort of lay more on my tummy and put both hands over my head. It's pretty comfy! (But I wasn't able to even get comfy nursing in bed until just recently.)

This is very funny as I read the post and thought, I had an epiphany last night as I nursed from both sides without rolling over!!! , I'll share this with the person posting and LOL...everybody does it! The funny thing is this is my sixth baby and the first time It ever dawned on me that I could just do both boobs without moving!!! :giggle:

I have tried to nurse from both on one side, but because I have to lean towards the baby to do so I'm afraid I'll fall asleep and smush him. I just roll us both over to switch sides.

I voted something else b/c we do both. Sometimes I nurse dd on the one side both breasts and sometimes we both roll over. I prefer to just roll with her, it is more comfy, but sometimes it isn't safe. Like if we are traveling and it isn't safe to have her on the edge.

I use to just roll him over, but then one night I accidently fell asleep and knocked him off the bed! Our bed sits pretty high off the ground too! He's fine, but I'm severly traumatized, so now he stays in the middle when I nurse and then goes into the bedside sleeper! I can still see the image of his arms and legs going over the side!

Since DS has gotten big enough to crawl off the bed, he stays in the middle and nurses both sides from there. I also have v small boobs, so i am almost laying on my stomach to get the top one to him. picture laying on your tummy w/the top arm propped on a pillow so it makes a little nook for DS. i sleep, he eats. we're both happy!
