We were at the zoo yesterday and I spotted a woman wearing a Moby with her baby facing towards her, but with the legs out! My boy is getting too long to be worn facing in with his legs in comfortably, so I've been using it less because we're just both uncomfortable (he's not quite big enough for the hip hold either). Soooo, I was like "OHHH, I need to know how to do that!" I was with my best friend and her hubby, and she and I approached her. I told her that I had the same wrap with me, and asked if I put it on would she be willing to help me get it the way she had her baby...she of course said "Oh sure!" I got him in it, and we were both so comfortable with him in that position, he went right to sleep. :bliss:

My friends dh though was quite surprised that we were so comfortable approaching a stranger at the zoo....but she totally got it! She said "It's so much easier if you can have someone help the first time with a new position." It made my day! Just had to share.

Too cool! Really nice mom and I think other moms who wear their babies understand if someone comes up to them :)
Hope you enjoy your new carry position!

That is really cool! I didn't know about any baby carriers except Bjorns, until when I was pregnant with dd #1 and I saw a lady at Target with a gorgeous ring sling and asked her about it (holy run-on sentence, batman!). She was so nice, and who knows if I would have discovered babywearing otherwise :)

I would so do that, AND I would so be willing to share that same information. Me, if you were wearing DS in an uncomfortable way, I would probably volunteer to show you a different position.

I think a lot of us are just that way...it is sharing the wealth!

thats great that she helped you.

I saw a lady at Walmart with a native on and a 5-6 month old in the Cradel hold and she was telling her DH how much the sling sucked and to take the baby out he was miserable. I went up and suggested the front cary with him facing out so he could see out and she told me she was only comfortable with him in the cradle. The others were not secure enough. Poor baby that was probably the last time he was carried in a sling.
