A wrap that is. I just saw that they are cheap and easy to make. How would I do it?? Can I get measurements?? Is it just a long piece of fabric??? I am so lost. I have made some Mei Tais, but want to try out a wrap. I would really love to buy a cheap one first, then maybe make one or two. Any ideas??

if its knit fabric, figure out if you need whatever amount of fabric for length (most are 5 yards- 6 yards depending on your size and the carries ya wanna do.)
if knit, cut to the width you want, i like around 25"
you can use like this.

if woven fabric, you cut and serge, or hem the edges because it will fray/unravel.

have fun!

I've bought 3 different colors of "stretchy" fabric on clearance at Walmart for $1 a yd. I am 5'2 and about 110 lbs, and 5 yds was a little too short for even me. I got 5.5 and that was perfect.(you can always cut it if too long :) ) It seems huge, but the 1 way I know how to wrap uses a lot. I also have a MT, but always reach for a wrap first....plus, they were like 64" wide-so I could cut them in half and have 2 for $5.50--you can't beat it!!! Here is a pic (taken by 6 yr old ds--so not the greatest) :)

When she was 1st born, I always had her facing in, but she had good head control, and is quite nosy!!! so I had her turned out to watch dh and ds play ball here @ 2.5 mnths (and she was quite content!!!)

I didn't do anything to it after I brought it home--the edges look fine. IT IS SOOOO EASY!!!

here's my walmart steal!! I'm a crafty dork, and I had an extra set of sling rings and I put my rings on my wrap so I didn't have to tie it!

yup just one long piece.

I jusy made my first wrap.... it is a gauze I bought at joanns fabric. I purchased 5yds and the fabric was about 46' wide so I cute it down the middle elenth wise and have two wraps. There is a learning curve to getting the wrap tight but practice makes perfect!
I suggest you just take the leap and try it, I did and I am happy I did :)

I just made my own wrap for the first time this weekend:lostit: . I got some lightweight cotton gauze and am loving it. Here are the three links I found the most useful.

Hope this helps. I have been having fun learning all weekend and my 2 year old is more than happy to be a test subject before I try out my 3month old:bboy: .
