At what age did you start bringing your tot to the movies? I don't just mean kid movies, any?

We took our kids from Birth until about 10 or so months in the sling and they would nurse then fall asleep. After about 10 months they were too rowdy to be at a theater.

Maia started goign to kids movies at 2 and did fine, Sage is 2 and can't sit through one.

Now at four, Maia has seen Spiderman 3, Fantastic Four, Superman, and done fine. We woulnd't even think of bringing them to anything that wasn't a kid movie or something like a comic book movie that isn't necessarily made just for adults.

Yeah I forget when Cody started being okay with going, he was almost two when DH & I met tho so pretty much already, Gavin would NOT be able to sit through one lol I wouldn't bring them to anything that is not kid friendly either, it bothers me when I hear a baby/tot crying at an R rated movie, especially if it's violent or gory :(

I just took my boys for the first time last month. One is 2 years old and the baby was 8 months old. My toddler did okay through most of the movie...I did have to load him up with popcorn. My 8 month old was too excited to sleep. He was soooo tired but kept looking around, wanting up, wanting down, the noises kept distracting him, etc. I won't be doing it again!

We have taken our oldest who is 3 to see ice age 2 and over the hedge (she was 2 at the time).

Our youngest hasn't been yet but she's only 1.

I went to see Sin City in the theater and someone had brought their 2 year old (my guess at age there) the kid cried and screamed through the whole thing and they stayerd for the whole movie.... :banghead:

We took my DS as an infant, when he was young enough to just hang out in the sling, nurse, and sleep through it. I took him once since then to see Cars; he was just turned 2 I think at the time. We don't take him to "regular" movies yet. He's 2.5, and he just can't sit through a whole movie so it wouldn't be fair to anyone. Besides, in our town, it's against the regulations to bring a child under 6 into a PG-13 or higher movie after 6 pm anyway.

Usually the only ones we take our kids to are the free family movies series in the summer. That way the theater is full of little kids and no one cares if they make a bit of noise. It's a great way to determine if your kids are ready to handle a movie where they would actually have to sit and be totally quiet the entire time. Plus it's free and my kids all enjoyed it last summer. And it gave us a chance to invite their friends to something we could afford to do together. Nothing like taking 9 kids to the movies at once to change your perspective. Other than that, we don't usually take them until they are at least 2, depending on personality and then it's just been teh Veggie Tales movies or something similar and only the oldest ones go with Dad while the little kids stay home with Mom.

When I had my first DD (6 years ago) I didn't take her in a theatre until she was 3 or 4 and that was for kid movies. With my second DD (born 10 months ago) I am much more at ease about things. She has been going into movie theatres since she was a month or so old. I find it best to sit in the back. There are spaces back there for wheelchairs at the end of the seat rows. I park her stroller in a wheelchair spot. She does very well. I usually hold her until she falls asleep then put her in her stroller. It's always cold in there so I have her dressed in long sleeves/pants and bring a blanket and a cap . I take her to both kid movies and adult. If she were to get fussy I'd just take her out and calm her down so we don't disturb others but I 've never had this problem :)

we go to alot of movies....my oldest son is 10 so we go see all the spidermans, harrypotters, pirates...etc...

they also have free movie here in the spring and fall for kids (well all ages) and we go see most of those as well. If we haven't seen them already.

Most the time all 3 of my kids do fine...i do have to fill them up with snacks though... ...my 2yo will sit there perfectly fine if she has a pack of M&Ms to keep her happy LOL! And we are lawbreakers who bring our own snacks to the theater. I refuse to pay $4 for a pack of MMs :lostit: So we usually stop at the store and get some candy and i bring both my dds a water bottle cause thats all they drink aside from milk. My older son will drink soda in the theater and we buy popcorn usually too. We only smuggle in the candy and water bottles in the diaper bag :giggle:

THey were both less than 1. DS was like 4 months his first movie. If the kids were super fussy I would stand and hold them, that would quiet them down.

we just took joe (he was 16months) to see Shrek and if i can avoid i wont be taking him again! now that he is walking and EXTREMELY curious he wants to walk and he tries to "talk"...i kept getting nasty looks from a group of 4/5 older people  it was much easier when he wasnt walking and would sleep through it.

i wouldnt take him into an adult movie at all. mainly bc its always way to loud and those watching are probably trying to get away from the kiddos for 1 night.

well ds #2 is 9 mo and we took him with us to see spiderman 3 on may 5th so he was 8 mo and that was his SECOND trip to the theater. We had taken him back in march? or so to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He's awesome. He watches for a bit, nurses, takes a nap, wakes up, watches, nurses, naps. When he wants to nurse, he's never loud, he just tugs at my shirt :goodvibes:

We're going to see HP and he'll be coming with us too!
