I have had a milk blister for the last month or so and it FINALLY popped today. OK, so I helped it along  but I just couldn't stand it any longer!
Anyway, now it is a red spot where the HUGE blister used to be. I would like to do my best to not let it get infected. What do I do? Peroxide? Just leave it open to air and let ds nurse a lot on that side?
Thanks in advance!

Was it on your nipple? I've had a couple, but they always popped by themselves within a day or hours, sometimes...I found it was sore to nurse on that side for a bit, but never did anything for it.
Maybe try putting lanolin on? That way you keep other bacteria out?
I don't know, though, I'm not an expert!

Just rub breastmilk on it. Breastmilk has lots of good stuff in it. We've used it on diaper rashes and pink eye and it's always worked like a charm. A nursing mom's nipples are self cleaning, so it's very unlikely that the blister will become infected.

I had a milk blister back in Feb. At the time I had NO clue what it was so I popped it. OUCH is all I can say. I had an open sore on my breast for 3 or 4 days and Breastfeeding was excruciating but I kept putting lanolin on it and it healed nicely.
Best of luck to you.

What do you mean, like a little white looking blister on your nipple? I am constantly getting those on my left nip. :banghead: WTH?! They hurt. It seems as soon as it heals, I get another. Is it from a bad latch?

I had a stubborn one for about a month:banghead: Hurt when I nursed and on top of it I kept messing with that nipple, made it worse. Mine was red and I did not put anything on it and it was fine, I check everyday thinking it will come back though. Not much advice here:)

AAAGH! DON'T PUT PEROXIDE ON your nipple!!!!!!!
Breastmilk and lanolin. Wash gently in shower but do not scrub with soap.

You and I are in the SAME boat. It popped... and now I think it is coming back. Could I really have a bad latch at 5 months into nursing?:headscratch: It is the crappy boob, but really! (I say crappy because it hurt for a week longer than the other one in the beginning, took me FOREVER to be able to lie and nurse on that side, it hurts at random times for no obvious reason. Crappy boob:banghead: )

We are in the same boat. DD is almost 4 mo. As soon as the blister pops, it turns into an open sore, heals, then I get another one. :banghead: It is annoying, but I can't figure out where the bad latch is coming from because to me, it looks AOK!

Just keep nursing. Let it get some air and spread a little BM on it. It should heal up just fine.
Sometimes when babies start looking around more/wiggling while nursing the latch can change, and if they start teething the latch could change too.
It seems like everytime DD gets a new tooth I get a milk blister and we have to work on her latch.

Hey your the one that looks like me! Oh, and your son's name was the top one on my list. I just told DH tonight that if we have another son, his name WILL be Liam!
I think it is healing up ok. It looks a little rough, but it finally stopped hurting. MAN did it hurt just before it popped! I do think it must be the latch, but my policy is, if it don't hurt, don't freaking mess with it! So other than the blister, it never hurt...:headscratch:

Not quite twins, though - maybe sisters? :giggle:
Lucas was on MY list, too! LOL - nice taste in names we have, huh?

hmm... Never heard of a milk blister so I'm guessing that is a good thing. I hope it works out, but I thought I would let you know that I have a crappy boob too!! And that you made me laugh :giggle:

I kept getting those stupid things. I popped it and put lots of Lanolin after every feed. They usually went away in about a week. But man, that week, it was SO painful..

:grouphug: I'm sorry, mama. I know exactly how you feel. Are you pumping? If your nipples aren't exactly centered in the shields or the shields are too small, the rubbing could be giving you blisters. That's how I always got them. Ouch!

I used to get those and my LC said it was from friction. DS was chewing on nipple.

Hmm... He likes to pop off of this side. The whole crappy boob thing I am sure. lately, since it has healed, he is not satisfied with just that side. I LIKED only having to nurse on one side per session! Oh well! :goodvibes:
Thanks for all the help. It healed, and all I did was... NOTHING. I would have put lanolin on it if I had remembered that I put it by the wool wash.:banghead:
