I thought I read somewhere that some people freeze breastmilk in ziploc bags -- has anyone here done this?
Thanks!

I never used just ziploc bags...now the zippered bags from Gerber or Lansinoh are fine but I thought they were too expensive and more trouble than they were worth. I've heard of people freezing the milk in ice cube trays and then putting the cubes in a ziploc bag...I did that for a while but with the amount I was freezing, it got old fast. I wound up using recycled baby food jars. 1 oz, 2 oz, 4 oz, 6 oz...gave me just the right sizing options, it was easy and not messy (I never could pour milk in and out of a bag without spilling!), and reuseable. Good luck!

I use the Lasinoh bags (and other brands, but that's what I have right now) for milk that I give to a friend for her baby, but used glass jars for my own freezer. The baby food jars are a great idea! :)

We used the lansinoh zipper bags and they worked well for us.

Wow! I second the idea of using the baby food jars! What a smart mama!

I always used the gerber bags and laid them flat to freeze. When I needed to defrost I would stick them in a sink of hot water and they were warm enough for consumtion after getting the baby up and changed. It was actually faster than heating refrigerated in boiling water.
Have to freeze them flat though, that is the trick.
