I don't, but I've really been interested in starting. I've heard it's such a great way to get the necessary nutrients without having to eat a ton. I know Dr Mercola (mercola.com) recommends it and I think his website might have some ideas.
How does it taste to you so far?

we have a juicer that we used twice...it was actually really thick juice, more like nectar, if you kwim. it seems expensive to juice...like you need to have a lot of fresh fruit/veggies on hand to get a good amount of juice. hmmm...really interested to hear what others have to say.

It tastes pretty good, I mean, as far as juice goes, if ya kwim...LOL
and since it's "vegetable season" all the produce is pretty inexpensive. I do think I feel fuller and more energetic.

yeah, you hit the nail on the head...it's like drinking thin mud :yuck: but it doesn't taste too too bad.

I just read Juicing for Life and it's a wonderful book for beginning juicers and offers a wealth of information on fresh fruit and vegetables along with the benefits on disease prevention and plethora of other preventions.

My Mom gave me an old juicer she has had in her cabinet for years after I mentioned watching the Jack Lalane Power Juicer infomercial. I love the idea of making my own juice. She didn't have the instructions to it, and I have been lazy about trying to figure it out. I'm embarrassed to say it is now sitting in my cabinet.
This post has inspired me to figure it out though, I may go drag it down later this morning and see what it does.

This sounds interesting. About how much is a juicer? I love fruits and veggies. They are about the only things I want right now anyway lol.

This is soooo off topic, but everytime I read that title it automatically makes me think of athletes and steroids. It makes me giggle because I know that's obviously not what your talking about, but I can't help but imagine some beefed up mama on the news for getting caught 'juicin'. ha ha
So sorry....I'm bad.....I'll stop now!

I used to juice and was CRAZY into it! I felt so good and healthy back then....waaaaay baaacck then!!! :( I wish I could get back into it, but honestly, my GREENPOWER juicer and all the "cook" books are under my cabinet taking up space, and I have considered selling it!! I did Hallelujah Diet too (BLAH!) on the way they go about it....very alarmist and all the "God's Diet" talk is so legalistic , it makes me sick. IT DOES work to make one feel better, though. Now I'm so unhealthy, I wish I could just eat DECENT!

I've just recently gotten big into juicing. I have a Jack LaLanne juicer that my hubby got me for Mother's Day this year and LOVE IT! I've tried all kinds of combos with veggies and fruits. I can't seem to find a veggie combo that I like so far. The ones I've tried so far that I like are:
Apple, orange, carrot
Apple, carrot, grape
Apple, celery, lemon
Carrot, celery, apple, grape
Orange, carrot, celery, grape, blueberry
Blueberry, apple, grape, carrot
Strawberry, apple, carrot, celery
Asparagus, apple, carrot
Asparagus, celery, carrot, peach, orange (kinda hard to get used to though)
I've also done a few smoothies that I like..just add melon or banana to any juice.
Books that are great are any by Cherie Calbom. I specifically use and like The Juicy Lady's Guide to Juicing for Health and The Ultimate Smoothie Book both by Cherie Calbom. She has a wealth of info in all her books.
I tried to do a juice fast the other day but by evening, when I needed to work and have some brain power, I was so fatigued and weak that I had to eat something. I'm going to try a fast again on a day that I don't have to work and can lay around. Also, in Juicy Lady's Guide to Juicing for Health, she gives lots of cleansing programs. Next week I'm doing the kidney cleanse and then in about a month I'm doing the gallbladder cleanse.
I love juicing and it's so much better than store bought. My son has liked almost every juice I've made.
AND..to add some fiber, put in ground up flaxseed and it gives you a nice bit of fiber added to your juice.
LMK If you have anymore questions and I'll try and answer them. I'm really enjoying juicing!

I have two juicing books, and they are a wealth of info. I have been SO PLEASED with my skin, weight loss, etc since juicing. My skin is just fabulous, not a pimple or black head in sight, not to mention it looks radiant (not bragging just flabergasted at the difference since juicing). I've also been juicing bfast and lunch since Monday and have lost 5 lbs, since Monday.

I don't have juicer, but my MIL has the Jack Lalane Power Juicer and DH and I get fed juice everytime we go over. I love the taste. Glad to hear people are getting some good benefits from it.

I have started juicing more again, but only after I decided to leave the juicer out on the counter
Otherwise it was a PITA to dig out!
We have a Champion Juicer which are something crazy like $300 in Canada, but my mom the queen of garage sales found me one at a church bazaar for $25 that had only been used a few times, dealaroo
I don't have any books to recommend, I have some vegetarian cookbooks with some good juice recipes in them that I have used...but basically I stick with the basics like carrot, apple, orange, grapefruit, celery , beet, cucumber.
Mango, watermelon and pineapple juice up great at this time of year!
A little bit of lemon or ginger added to your juice can add some nice zing.
Alot of the time I find that I have to water down my juices as well, cause they can be too strong sometimes, but I'm a little weird that way and dilute any juice that I drink :giggle: Plus I think that's what they recommend for kids juice these days anyways.
HTH!
