I made, tested, and perfected a soap bits recipe to fit my son's Cloth Diapering needs-he has extremely sensitive skin. I finally created a soap bits recipe that is great for sensitive skin. You can get many water bottle refills out of just one cube and make it stretch for over a few days. I have been testing these for almost a year with the members over at Live Journal's Cloth Diapering community, with rave reviews and many returning customers. They have become quite popular, and many of mommas have been getting addicted to these, so I thought that I would share them with mommas here as well.
My scented bits are VERY light in fragrance, and your wipes if kept constantly saturated in a wipes bag, they will not get moldy over a period of time. I keep my wipes wet in my wetbags at all times and have never had a smell or mold problem with them.

I can do bags in 3 different sizes:
Large bags are $11.00 (100 soap bits) and shipping for that size anywhere in the US is $2.65
Medium Bags are $6.50 (50 soap bits) and shipping for that size anywhere in the US is $2.35

About my soap bits:
My soap bits are Vegan and 98% Natural,. Made with Cosmetic grade dyes (small amounts), high grade vegetable soaps and oils/essential oils, and fragrances are alcohol free. Soap and Fragrances are Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and Pthalate free. Absolutely no Shea soap or butter mixed in with soap. I avoid it, to avoid allergies with my customers. Soap Bits that are made with no dyes and or Essential Oils will be stated on their selling information page. I designed this soap for babies with sensitive skin and Excema. My son was my inspiration for the soap. I had tried many soaps and wipes solutions on him and never found one that worked the way I wanted it to. I researched Soap, oils and everything involved and I worked for about 1 and 1/2 years on the perfecting the recipe. I created my Soap Bits back in 2007 and went officially on-line with them in 2008. I infuse my own Calendula oil which has many healing properties and it is put into every batch of soap that I make. Calendula is a natural preservative, Anti-Microbial and Anti-Fungal. No Tea Tree Oil in my soap bits.
Another fun thing you can do with my soap bits, is add 4-5 cubes in a Foam Pump and let it set (hot water will melt the soap faster and melting completely in a foam pump is recommended). The foaming kind of pumps will create a nice foam for your wipes, or to just use in the kitchen, bathroom, or on babies skin!

Please also be aware that Summertime is a time of hotter months and due to this fact, you are taking a chance with ordering the soap and it possibly melting due to higher temperatures in some states. This has not happened often, but I have had 1-2 instances where it has happened depending on which hot state you live. You can still use the soap even after it has melted, but please be reminded that USPS does leave packages out in the heat all of the time. For this I am not responsible. I am not responsible for them melting in transit but would be happy to work something out with you if this does happen. If there is a problem with the soap once you get it, please let me know immediately. You have up to a week after delivery to contact me. DO NOT LEAVE SOAP IN HOT CAR ONCE YOU GET YOUR MAIL! I will not issue a refund without the product being sent to me and pictures of ruined product help me out tremendously. I have many mommas who buy them from me and I always get asked how to use them. Here is a tutorial.
Yes, this is kind of long, and for that I apologize!
Instructions on how to use my soap bits.
Add 1-2 Soap bits to a peri/squirt or pop top bottle of water (you can use distilled water too) and swish for the slow dissolve method. It will take 2-3 days for your soap to dissolve using the slow dissolve method. I use two different types of bottles for my wipes solution storage. I use the Hospital given Peri Bottles for home, and two pop top squirt bottles from PVS (Ponte Vedra Soap) soap for travel. If you don't like letting your soap slowly dissolve and like the hot water or microwave melt method, add your desired amount of cubes (1 does the trick but feel free to use 2) in 12 oz of water and melt in a mircrowaveable measuring cup for about 30 seconds and swish. Please add some cool water to cool off solution and add it to your squirt bottle. Saturate your wipes and place them in a wetbag and in your wipes warmer if you have one. I infuse my own Calendula oil which is used as a Preservative and Anti-Fungal/Anti-bacterial so your soap bits will last a long time with proper storage. I keep mine in a ziploc bag or in medium sized cork top Spice bottles.
You can get some cheapy bottles from Wal mart in the travel size department to hold your mixture in. I always keep my wipes saturated in a wetbag and I carry a small bag of bits with me when I am out, and my bottle of made up solution wherever I go. I get large bottles from PVS soap, and these are awesome for traveling. I carry one mixed bottle with me at all times, and I have 2 peri bottles placed in various spots in the house and use the two pop top bottles for traveling. :) .
Also, always rotate your oldest wipes to the top of the pack and put the new ones on the bottom. :) I never get a smell, mold, or slime problem with my saturated wipes and solution because of the Calendula oil in them. If you use a wipes warmer, I recommned using one with a flat bottom as opposed to one with grooves. Also please be aware that newer styles of wipes warmer run really hot and might cook out the scent of your soap. You certainly don't have to saturate your wipes when you travel. You can carry dry wipes, and your bottle of mixed up solution and saturate your wipes as you clean your baby's bum.

Update on new batches of Soap Bits. Peach and Strawberry Breeze are finished. Peach has been cut up and is curing over-night, I just need to seperate the bits into baggies. Not sure how many bags this batch will create. Strawberry Breeze is setting, I still need to cut and seperate that batch as well. That should all be done by Sunday, leaving the bags ready to get mailed out on Monday.

I don't sell bottles just yet-I plan on selling them in the future. All of my ingredients are listed on the Starter thread. I will post them here as well. Ingredients are the same in every batch in every scent. I am out of Warm Brown Sugar right now, but will be making more soon. I hope this helps you out. :goodvibes:
INGREDIENTS.
I use Various high grade soaps, and high grade oils in my Soap bits. I use one or more of these-Olive Oil/Olive Oil Soap, Shea Butter, Coconut soap, Vegetable Gycerin, Essential Oils, Apricot Kernel Oil, Cocoa Butter Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Palm Oil, Coconut Palm Oil and some Fragrances and Sorbitol-no animal fats of any kind in my soaps. (Essential oils used are TTO, Lavendar and Pink Grapefruit, Lemon and all in small amounts). These soap bits are great for sensitive skin and the soaps are gentle enough to use on rashy skin as well. The nice thing about the bits, is that once you make them up in a water solution, you can keep wet wipes around at all times and not have to worry about mold with your wipes. Plus, each soap bit in a water/squirt bottle slowly dissolves over a period of about a week, so you get many water/solution refills with each cube of soap. My soap Bits do not Contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfates. I use trace amounts of TTO in my bits, but might change the recipe again and do Calendula oil insted of TTO and Lavendar. I am going to do more research about that, as I know some members have issues with TTO and some of its possible side effects on boys. However,the TTO and Lavendar are in such small trace amounts in my batches.

I charge $10 per bag, with Postage included in that price if in the US. If in Canada, please add an extra $1 to the cost. I usually include 90-130 soap bits per bag, and recently have started cutting the bits a bit bigger.

I would love to try these Mama, but I'd like to wait until you get the calendula oil, had no idea about anything affects from TTO, so now I will have to look into that, but I don't want to use it if it is having adverse affects on boys, as I use it in my wipes solution right now for DS. :banghead: I think all your scents sound yummy enough to eat, so I'm not too picky what scent I would get, but PM me for sure when you get the calendula oil ones done! I'm interested in wool wash too, so I can't wait for you to roll that out! =)

I use my solution with a wipes warmer. My son hates cold wipes, anytime of the year. Be sure to mix water and soap bit up in a squirt bottle and leave it next to the wipe warmer. Sometimes wipes will dry out, so just squirt the water/soap bit solution over your wipes, and that should work just fine. I have never just dropped a bit in the wipes warmer itself. I am sure that you can, but these bits are designed to take longer to melt, giving you more uses/water refills with your bits. I hope that makes sense. :) If anyone decides to try melting them in their wipes warmer with the soap bit and water in it, let me know how it goes. :)

I would love to try these Mama, but I'd like to wait until you get the calendula oil, had no idea about anything affects from TTO, so now I will have to look into that, but I don't want to use it if it is having adverse affects on boys, as I use it in my wipes solution right now for DS. :banghead: I think all your scents sound yummy enough to eat, so I'm not too picky what scent I would get, but PM me for sure when you get the calendula oil ones done! I'm interested in wool wash too, so I can't wait for you to roll that out! =)
I will be letting everyone know once I start using the Calendula instead of the TTO. I don't mind using TTO on my son, as the amount I use is each batch is really, minute. I don't think he will be growing boobs anytime soon.

The sorbitol (from berries) is an emulsifier that grabs the oils and keeps it so that it sticks to the soap better. Without an emulsifier, the oil just seeps out of the soap. HTH. :)

Just don't go and eat the soap, even though they smell good enough to eat. :giggle: Oh, and I found Calendula Oil. I am ordering it this week, and will be stocking up on my soap supplies. Believe it or not, I have run out of my soap supplies! That was fast. :) I will PM you when I get the Calendula batches made. I want to test them first, so maybe I will have you be my tester for that batch! I will probably add a few tester slots on that Calendula batches.

I have all of these beautiful cloth wipes and I've been afraid to use them because I'm not sure how to wash them and I don't have a wipe solution. Also, I can see your bits are pretty popular so you probably don't need to, but....any chance you'd put together sampler bags?

You wash your wipes as normal with your diaper wash. I throw the wipes in the pail with the soiled diapers. The soap bits are made for washing your baby's bum and bits. :) I don't have enough bits leftover from my batches right now to offer a sampler bag. I am so sorry about that! :goodvibes:
I can tell you that all of the scents are really nice.

I just made a new limited scent.
It is called Candied Peach. It is my Peachy scents with vanillas and Sugars with a hint of Spice to it. Smells yummy! I just need to cut the batch up and see how many bags it makes. I will list them for sale in a bit and give you all an update on what is left!

Here is how I use my soap bits mixture and wipes. I have a wipes wetbag, and I carry around a flip top bottle with one soap cube and water. When I need the wipes, I saturate them in my wipes wetbag. As for the dirty wipes, they get thrown in with the dirty diapers and washed altogether. Any wipes will do, however, my favorites are sherpa, Organic Velour and Bamboo Velour wipes. They are great poop grabbers. I hope this helps you out. :goodvibes:

I just want to say that these soap bits are awesome. I could not get into cloth wipes because I would try to do water with power or water with baby soap but it always got stinky after a day and it was GROSS. I got these and have not thought about disposable wipes since. Thanks mama:goodvibes:

This month I am ordering more soap making supplies and will also be offering new scents too. :lostit: I am excited about the new scents that I will be adding. Once I run out of a batch, I am typically fast in getting new batches made to replenish what I ran out of, so I should always have something that smells yummy available. :) I am just out of all of my supplies right now and need to replenish them and will be doing that after the 15th of this month. :goodvibes: Thanks for the bump momma!

Also, I am going to be doing my new order of supplies this month, and have decided to eliminate Shea Butter out of the recipe and replace it with Olive Oil soap. I found out that folks with allergies to Latex are also allergic to Shea Butter. :) So out of the recipe it will be! I am planning on infusing my own Calendula oil and replacing the TTO in the recipe with the Calendula. :) I do have one Soap Bit that is only essential oils, and that one is the Citrus Medley one. :)

Just a quick update!
My prices have gone up by $1 for the New Year. Prices of soap bit bags include cost of shipping and will now be $11 per bag. My cost of supplies has gone up just a little bit. I can only take PP at this time. I hope to get RME set up sometime in the near future, but until then it is PP only taken at this time! I have eliminated the Shea butter soap and replaced it with Olive Oil soap and the TTO is also out of the recipe. I have my own infused Calendula oil that is now used in the recipe in place of the TTO! :thumbsup:

I have been told that most bags last 3-6 months, it depends really on how many soap bits you want to use in your bottle of water though. I put over 100 bits in a bag. You only need one cube per 12oz bottle. I hope this helps. :goodvibes:

Hello Everyone! I only have 2 bags left to purchase and my soap will be getting here a few days before I leave to CA. I will be gone until June 10th.:thumbsup: My last day to go to the PO will be Wednesday or Friday of this week before I leave. I can do those types of bags, but only once I am done bagging everything up. The availability of those types of bags depends on how many extra bits of soap (in each scent) that I have left over to make a half-size sampler bag. :thumbsup:

The Warm Brown Sugar is Vanilla-y and very nice. The Floral Tea smells like White Tea and Orchids/Tropical Flowers. It is light and very nice. :)
