I just went to the bathroom and I am losing my mucus plug. I just went to the dr yesterday and was dialated to 1 1/2 soo.....

did it all come out at once or is it coming out little by little? if all at once, it could be within a few days, and if little by little it could be up to a week (sorry mama)

mine came out little by little over a course of a week. and needless to say, i dont know, because i was enduced a week early. but i was so ready to have my son, im sure if i didnt have him then i would have gone in labor within 2 days. it really depends on your body.
are you getting alot of brax/hicks?

I don't know how big a mucous plug is, but it was a good size chunk. I didn't lose it with dd until after the dr stripped the membranes which was at 38 weeks, and it was just little by little, smaller than this anyway. I am not in a complete hurry, I actually don't have bags packed or seat in the car or cradle brought upstairs. I have a lot I want to get done before he comes, even though in other ways I am ready. I actually have so much back and pelvis pain that I can't feel contractions. I mean they would just have to be off and on, cuz if they were consistant I am sure I would know.

Mucous plugs can grow back. ;) If it was tinged with blood, then that would be more of a sign of impending labor (though it could still be days off). If it's just chunks of mucous, especially with this not being your first pregnancy, then it's not really a sign of labor. I started losing mine once my third trimester started (of course, I also started dilating at around 34wks).

Being your second, you'll just have to wait for those contractions to get started to know when it's time. ;) As far as how much was there - I lost the whole thing with my first about a week before he was born, it was about as big/as much as my thumb (maybe a little more). With my second, it came in 2 or 3 big gobs about 2-3wks before he was born.

If it's just coming out in pieces and mostly mucus I'd say you could still have a ways to go as pp have mentioned... I lost mine all at once in the hospital. I was induced and at four cm I went to the bathroom and actually could feel myself pass it - sorry if TMI. The plug was much larger than I expected - bigger than a golf ball and tinged with blood but who knows - everyone's different... GL!

Yep, everyone's different. ;) Also, since you started dilating before you lost it, it's quite likely that it's big enough to 'fill the space'. ;)

I woke up this morning after a night at L&D and it looked like I had a horriable cold and blew my nose in my underwear (way TMI). I'm 4cm's and 85% efaced @ 35 weeks 4 days. I was thinking it could be the KYJelly stuff they used to check me but it was much thicker and chunkier than KY.

yeah I know it is just a beginning sign, with ds#1 i never saw a mucus plug with dd it was 38 weeks but smaller pieces. It is just nice to know that something is going on. I have had a lot of pressure and pain today, but I know it all depends on time, and it is not my own time.:goodvibes: If I am anything like my mom though the 3rd one came in 20 min. She didn't even know she was in labor she just couldn't stand up straight.

goodluck amy!:yay: mine was coming out in peices after getting my cervix checked, it has stopped and i havent seen anymore, my dr office told me if i start bleeding at all or of course if the water breaks or you get contraxtions 4 or more in an hour to go in because all this means the baby is on the way:D

I think it can be hugely variable. I never lost my plug with my first. With my second, I lost a bunch (nasty) one night, then lost a bunch more the next night... then went into labor at 5:00 the next morning. I'd be read, just in case! Get lots of rest!
