they are too worn out for goodwill or to give away. is there a place that recycles them? what would you do with them?

I've never thought about recycling them, but I guess they could be. I've always just thrown them away.

Just a thought-are they REALLY to worn out? Meaning if someone didn't have shoes, would these be better than none? If so, you could donate them to a shelter or local organization that helps mothers/families. Unless an item is in horrible condition and totally unrepairable, I would donate it.

:goodvibes:

(and none of the above was meant to sound mean or snarky, I am REALLY cranky today and hopefully the above was worded correctly. :fit: :badday: )

Our local dump site has a section specifically for recycling. They even have a big bin for clothes. If they are usable in any form they send them to poor counties. If not the actualy reuse the fibers. One of the things made from this stuff is tennis balls. ( I was impressed when I found out. LOL A dork I guess. )

they are still very wearable. the sole is trying to separate a little. the top of them is cracked open and stuff. not attractive at all. they would still serve a very good purpose for someone, just not good for what i need them for anymore. (i work in them and the soles are kind of slick in places and they don't hold water out anymore and they are becoming too much of a hazard for me to wear to work in.)

i feel that since they are in bad shape that goodwill would chunk them since probably no one would buy them.

Tennis shoes can be recycled. I looked this up online once before and found that out. I do not have a website but if you do a general search you might find something.

I am trying like crazy to find a place that will recycle my favorite old sandals that I just CAN'T repair any more!

Good luck!
Cathy

Ya, they use the soles to make those nice cushy tracks.
