I have been just putting my recycling in a big bag and putting it in my laundry room. Well, my system is a huge mess & has really been annoying me lately. My city does not do recycling pick up, so I have to drop it off each week.
What kind of bins do you use? I live in a small townhouse and need to have something compact, neat looking and easy to deal with. I'm thinking stackable, but what kind? I've googled them, but like real opinions.

I put up a shelf (5 tier metal kind you can buy at Target) in my garage to hold all kinds of things like luggage, holiday decorations, that sort of thing. For the bottom two shelves I put in those rubbermaid bins, like the kind you use for storage, and I put my recycling in those. I have 4 (plastic, paper, glass, cans). I like them because they are easy to clean if they get messy, they are organized, and because I don't have city p/u either and have to transport them to the recycling center myself, I like that they have lids I can snap on in my car so they don't spill everywhere.

We have these and they are AWESOME!!! We live in a Condo and we have an attached private patio. We put all of the recycling in these and then take them to the dump each week. We dont have any access to anyone to come and get them.
We have 2 25 gallon ones, one for plastics and tin, and the other for glass. Then we have one 16 gallon one that sits on the very top and thats for paper.
I like these because the lids are closed to prevent the rain and snow from getting in. And we stack them so they take up minimal space. They are really heavy duty for outside as well.
I highly suggest them, and really they arent all that costly. Then, if for any reason you need to get rid of them, they are recyclable too!

Bumping this for you, mama. I'm in the same situation. Small apartement and no curbside pick up. I've seen someone else recommend those ikea ones before as well. I may go have a look at those tonight.

We have to drop our's off too and we just use a three bin system. The bins we use are the large rectangular plastic bins you get for storage at Target or whereever. We separate paper and cardboard together and then plastic and glass.

I love those Ikea stackables- right now I'm just using 5 gallon frosting buckets from our local grocery store bakery. They work fine, and I guess I feel good that I'm recycling something for my recycling, but they take up all the room under our sink.
