Nutritional Yeast is very nutritious! LOL! I am being serious though, nutritional yeast contains 18 amino acids and 15 minerals. It is also rich in B-complex vitamins. Not to mention it is tasty....

I would add it if you can because it would add alot more nutrition than brown rice itself can give, but wouldn't stress over it if it you don't have any on hand today....

HTH!

I bought Brewer's Yeast (also known as nutritional yeast) in bulk for our DD and added it to her cereal and she really didn't notice anything. In fact, I still have some and I don't know why I stopped giving it to her. Her Ped. was very surprised and happy to know that I was adding it to her cereal.

Well, shoot... why did I stop then? :headscratch: I am putting it in her oatmeal this morning!

My kids *love* it sprinkled on popcorn. You can also add it to salad dressing/dip.

Brewer's Yeast and Nutritional Yeast are actually slightly different. Brewer's yeast is nutritionally the same but is a by-product of the beer-brewing industry and has a characteristic bitter hops flavor. Nutritional yeast is grown on mineral enriched molasses and has a cheesy flavor (much yummier IMO :))

is this something you would find primarily in a health food or more natural (whole foods type) grocery store?

Well, poo poo on the place that I bought it! I guess I should've read up a little more, huh?

tks so much for answering! i bought it in the cooler section of the market so i am assuming it needs to be kept in the fridge...

I've never seen it in the cooler section... I've always gotten it from the bulk section so maybe there are different forms? Anyway, I always kept it in the pantry. Better safer though I guess
