so I've got some oranges that I think are past their prime for eating, but I may still be able to salvage them for some sort of cleaning solution. I searched the natural cleaning thread, but just found stuff for orange eo's and orange scented stuff that you buy. Anyone know if there is anything I can make with the oranges I have? I'd rather not let them go to complete waste.
Thanks!

Sorry, mama. The only tip I know is to run citrus down the garbage disposal to freshen it. Maybe someone else will have a better tip for you? I hate to waste food, too!

you can use one in your garbage disposal, if you have one. but i really doubt you will need more than one (or even a half of one!).
you might be able to use use a zester or a microplane and dry the "zest" for recipes or potporri. i have not done it, just trying to brainstorm here for ya.
stick some cloves in them and hang them on your christmas tree or window?
uh...cut them in half and leave them for the birds that like fruit.
Candied grapefruit peel is one of our holiday traditions and I'm sure orange would be good as well.

thanks ladies.
Unfortunately I just clogged our sink drain by putting carrot peelings in it, so I can't use it right now. :banghead:
Some for the birds might be a good idea. We can't usually put food out because we have bears, but I think they should all be sleeping by now. And I just saw a stellar jay on my patio.

Cut them in half and cover the flesh with Borax or baking soda and use it to scrub sinks, etc..

I would attempt to eat one before deeming it bad.
If it is bad, maybe you could save the peels to make hot spiced wine?
