I made this for all the kids in my two sons grades 2 and 3 classes and they loved it my kids said, we did it a couple of years ago too, my kids thought it was soo awesome.

mix up

1/4 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup sugar
red and green cake sprinkles

( you will have to greatly increase amounts for large classes etc. The amounts listed are more for a single family.)

I put them in the clear cellopane bags with the christmas decorations you can usually find at your local dollarstores or walmarts.

Attach a tag with some ribbon and the following poem on it

Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home.

This is so cute, we are doing it for dd's class. We plan to do it with glitter and write
"On Christmas Eve sprinkle magical dust on your lawn.
The glitter will sparkle in the moonlight and help Santa find your house.
The smell of the oats will guide the Reindeer!"

Oh we did that at a Christmas deal at church for the kids. They had a little table with the ingredients in different containers. Each kid was handed a ziplock baggie and made their own reindeer food. They were allowed to dump each ingredient into the bag, close and shake it up and the baggie already had the little saying on it. It was really cute, but my kids ate the reindeer food. They put M&M's in it. My kids cannot resist m&ms. :giggle:
