Everytime I shower or brush my hair I'm shocked at the amount of hair that comes out. Seriously its A LOT! I was told by by midwife that its pretty normal but its causing a problem. We have a drain strainer thingie in the tub and our clogs are still slow and/or backed up all the time.

I've tried sprinkling some baking soda then a bit of white vinigar anf then a whole kettle of boiling water to help things go down a little more quickly. I also just use the plunger or this snake thing from the home improvement store.

Any other eco friendly suggestions for hair clogs in the bathtub.

No suggestions for the drains, we have the same prob. I don't know how many months you are talking about - but I am losing it by the handful and my LO is just about 3.5 months.

My daughter will be 5 months old on the 20th and I am still losing hair by the handfuls. Every time I shower... there are, AT LEAST, five full handfuls and when I brush my hair there's, at least 2. I have bald spots and my hair is ordinarily VERY thick.

I went to my reg. doctor about this very thing and some anemia/exhaustion issues and she's ran blood work... I should have results back within the next couple of days.

I'm 10 months pp, and it's still falling out everywhere! The hair loss seemed to increase at about 8 months. I definitely have hair growing back in, though.

FYI, this thread will probably get moved to Off Topic :goodvibes: But I wanted to jump in and say I've been losing hair like crazy too. With dd I had my hair cut really short so I didn't notice it. But with ds, my hair is all over the place...in the shower, the drain, the floor, ugh! Ds likes to pull it out when nursing too LOL

I ended up cutting my hair SHORT (from past mid back) because even after 4 months combing my (curly) hair became impossible.

Mine started falling out when I stopped taking my vitamins regularly.

I think mine stopped falling out around 5 months or so. I would comb my hair before getting into the shower and that seemed to minimize the amount of hair that came out in the shower.

I don't know how to clear the drain other than the snake thingie. If you can access the drain pipe, you can take it apart and manually pull the hair out. At least my husband was able to do that with our laundry tub sink to get the lint out when we first moved in.

With both my kids, my hair started falling out around 3 months postpartum and continued to fall out for about 7-8 months. I lost almost no hair while pregnant, so I figured I had 9 months worth of hair loss to catch up on. The worst was that ALL of the hair on my temples fell out at once and I had bald spots. It's grown back now thankfully, except I've got short frizzy hairs there now and the rest of my hair is down past the middle of my back.

This might sound really gross, but when I'm in the shower, any hair that falls out (since my hair is so long, it's easy to grab), I collect it on the shower wall, then throw it in the garbage after my shower. I lose so much hair that my drain would be plugged in a week and DH would kill me.

My little one is 4 months old and I have been losing a TON of hair for at least a month now. I don't remember losing this much hair with my first child. Thankfully most of my hair gets trapped by the little strainer in the shower and doesn't make it down the drain. Sorry, I don't have any unclogging suggestions. Good luck!

I am losing tons too. I remember losing hair after my first three kids - but this time it is sooooo much. It seems to have slowed a little the past week or so. My ds is amost 5 months. About a month ago the amount of hair was alarming and so I researched it online. Guess it is normal, but probably a good idea to have your thyroid checked since most of the symptoms for thyroid problems wouldn't seem out of the ordinary after having a baby. (fatigue, hair loss, etc)
I do have some VERY thin spots now at my temples, but you can see the new short hairs coming in. very frustrating.
