Is there any use for these? I can't come up with any good ideas at the moment and they are piling up!

spices, you can even make a cool spice rack by screwing a board under a vupboard and then drilling holes in the tops of the baby food jars and then screwing them ont o the piece of wood ... was that to confusing? lol.
snow globes; baby oil and egg shells. lol.

I just recycled them... but I did have a coworker who asked for them because she's an artist and wanted them for her paints. Too bad my son wasn't eating baby food at that point and I'd already recycled all the jars.... :banghead:

You can make snow globes (http://www.marthastewart.com/good-things/snow-globes)and give them as gifts!! We did this a few years back. It was so fun!

Give them to your dh to organize his nuts, bolts, screws.... etc. Like the pp said, screw the lid into the bottom of a 2x4 or something and you can screw in the jar from below.
I said *organize his nuts*! :giggle:

I use them as mini food bowls to feed, heat, freeze and store baby food and instead of small plastic containers.
I'm really trying to avoid using plastics esp with anything involving food storage since the stuff came out about BPA.

that's exactly what i was going to say! my 3 year old loves pudding and jello for snacks, so when i make a batch, i pour it into a bunch of baby food jars - perfect sized snack:thumbsup:

Just an fyi,
you aren't supposed to re-use brand name baby food jars. The glass is not made to be frozen or reheated, which can result in micro-cracks in them, either meaning build up of bacteria or micro-shards of glass. There is more info on this at wholesomebabyfood.com
Instead, a great way to reduce the number of baby food jars is to make you own babyfood, and keep them in the Ball jars. Ball brand makes small 4oz jars perfect for canning, and the glass is quilted and tempered so as to withstand freezing and heating. I , too, do not like using plastic for my foods. Hope that helps!
They do make great paint jars, though there are only so many you could use :P . I just recycle mine. You could also call local child care centers and see if they would like them for crafts.

If you have a local freecycle group, you can usually find someone on there that is happy to take them off your hands. That's what I always did with mine.

My boys decorated a bunch of them like snowmen (using cotton balls and we made little felt hats and scarves) for christmas gifts

Are you sure it wasn't just freezing they were talking about? This was all I could find:
"You should NEVER freeze anything in glass containers unless the glass container is specifically labeled for freezing! Freezing in glass may cause bursting. It may also cause tiny fractures in the glass and may leave behind microscopic glass shards that you may never see. Freezing homemade baby food in the plastic containers that some commercial baby food makers now use is a better choice. However, some plastics are made specifically to withstand heat and freezing temperatures so ensure that your recycled plastic containers are labeled as "ok to freeze"."
I would never freeze glass myself, but I used the jars to warm up my son's food when he was an infant in a bottle warmer (no dirty pots or microwaved food). I don't think there's any issues with warming.
I have used them for all sorts of things. I keep 2 in my bag at all times, one for diaper wipes (they hold a LOT of wipes & keep them moist), and one for antibacterial wipes. I have used them for storing dry goods in portions (like cereals... no measuring in the morning!), & mini leftovers in the fridge. I ended up putting a box of them on freecycle at one point because I had too many. Sometimes teachers are looking for them for art projects.

My aunt canned baby food in them and then gave them to me... I'm going to look in my Ball book to see about whether they should be used for that though. I know freezing causes some concern as pp have mentioned. Ball jars break too when canning sometimes - just how the jar is in there I guess...

you can reuse the glass baby jars for canning purposes. Boil all the parts to sanitize them and then follow canning procedures. If you go and read on the internet about canning baby food the only reason they say don't is because the readly availabe jars are too big and you would waste more than you would use; unless you have multiples!:giggle: Do NOT freeze the commercial baby food jars; they aren't made for that. BUTTTT ball makes 4 or 6oz:headscratch: freezable glass jars that you can.
