I just got this from a friend and am now passing it on. If you sign up to pledge to use reusable bags for the month of december you get a 20% off coupon code for reusablebags.com and you will get entered to win some really cool "green" prizes if you get people to sign up. Not only that but you are helping out the environment and being a good example to those who are shopping around you:)

I bought all my eco string bags from there. I always take my bags with me and use them for any purchase. If i forget my bags i just say no bag is necessary.

I will have to check out the website. Thanks for the tip. I have started using my cloth bags in about the last month. They are great. I bought all of mine from the thrift store. I have to lug all my stuff up a flight of stairs to get it in the house with 2 kids in tow, so cloth bags actually makes my life a LOT easier. I can carry things on my shoulder and load the bags really heavy and they don't break.

The only tip I would offer if you are looking for used bags, is get the ones with a flat bottom. They are easier to load and carry. IMO.

Thanks! I just pledged and love that they are doing this...I alway use my canvas bags for all my shopping...and think it's funny that stores other than my grocery store gives you strange looks if you don't want a bag or you brought your own. One cashier at a store looked at my bags and finally said, "you want me to put your things in here?" No...I just wanted to show them too you...what do you think????

I always forget my bags at home so how do you remember to take them with you?

store store we shop at has been charging people for bags for as long as I can remember. They sell reusable fabric bags and also big plastic bins. I loe using the bins. No bags to pack, just rhwo everything in your bins and go.
Cardboard boxes work just as well as bins and they are pretty much free.

I have to start remembering to bring my reusable bags every where I go.
Wal-mart has a very good size bag, it is huge and holds a lot of stuff.

At pretty much ALL stores here in Australia, they sell reusable bags.. They range from $1 to $2.50 for "fancy" ones with disney characters/"fun" stuff on them..

I have about 40 or so and use them for heaps of random things.. my only issue is I often forget them in the car, or leave them on the table when going to the grocery store etc.. Hense why I have so many... I tend to end up buying 1-2 more every trip to teh grocery store LOL!

They're awesome, we use them around teh house, DD loves to use them to cart some toys from one room to teh other, storage, library bag etc..

ETA : I use Green Bags (http://www.greenbag.info/) primarily, they have ones that zip up into the size of a rectangular wallet, and I keep one of htem in just about every place imaginable.. diaper bag, purse, glove compartment etc etc..

I just use boxes. We go to Aldi a lot, and I just bring 3 cardboard boxes and fill em up. When they get too beat up, I recycle them and try to remember to save 3 cleaner boxes from my "stash" for the next time I go shopping. The challenge is an excellent idea! Rock on!
