My 2 1/2 yr old has a fever and has since Friday(it's Wed. now). It is up and down and I have to go buy more of something to help th efever as we are out of ibprofin and she refuses to touc any red meds. I'm wondering if there are any natural ways to bring ti down besides putting her in a cool bath. I'm talking the fever has been up as high as almost 104 and is pretty consistantly 101-102. The ped said they can't do anything for her, she's ben in twice during this time. Also she has a runny nose and a bad cough. I bought suckers for colds but she won't touch them. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks

I did find some things called BeKool. They are disposable so not neccisarily the best for the environment but they can be used in conjunction w/ any meds or anything because they cool the forehead or back of the neck and help lower body temp that way. I don't know how well they will actually work as I just put it on dd about 5-10min ago but htey are supposed to work for up to 8hrs. I'll let you know in about 1hr how well it is working her temp was 101.3 when I put it on her.

After an hour her fever was even higher than when I put the BeKool thing on her. So I resorted to giving her tylanol as well. I'm hoping to get the fever down at least some as she is chilled and miserable. She hasn't even gotten off th ecouch today and that is defintly not a normal 2yr old(or at least not mine). Hope your lo gets feeling better.

I gave her a bath after she threw up all over herself, that cooled her off for awhile. Now she's hot again and fussy. Doesn't want to move much, yeah, very weird for her.

well you can put cool not cold only col compresses on the insides of her wrists and the joint of the knee and the forehead, you jst use on and keep moving it fromone pont to another, keep the liquids in her, try to get her to drink as mucha s she possibly can to flush it out of her system, and just let er lay around, use the tylenol s a last resort but some natural remedy people say it s never needed, do wha your mama insincts know. I hope your LOs fel better soon.

I called the natural food store and the lady there recommended Homeopathic Belladona (sp?) I have it on hand for our next fever spell. I have been reading on it and it is a fever reducer.
The good news is that fevers are helping your LO's body fight the bad guys. :)
Hope that this helps.

Today I gave dd a warm bath(filled the tub while I showered so it was luke warm hen sh egot in) and that was at about 9:30 this morning. It's now 2:30 and still n fever back. I'm hoping it's gone for good caus eotherwise I'll have to probably take another trip to the dr because a child shouldn't have a high fever for 8 days without some kind of reason right?
