I don't go to the meetings. I only BFed for 3 months due to serious supply issues. I would have went though when I was if I knew of the meetings! They might have been able to give me more advice on my supply issues. Next time I am pregnant/have a baby I will have to go. Where do they have them at?

Don't you love the fly bys! We live right at a turning point and it's lovely! I'm used to it though growing up military it wasn't uncommon to just stop conversation when a play flew by. Everyone understood. Now we are so close our house shakes! When we lived in Guam the huge cargo planes would go right over our house, so low we could actually wave to the pilots (and did, and they'd wave back).
I will say I didn't realize they flew so far away, I guess in a plane it's not far.

We stayed in Leasburg (well the state park, so outside of Leasburg) for about a week. We really liked the town and people we met there, very nice (and we are from a small town in MO, but they were even nicer than here). We actually have considered the general area for when we move onto our little homestead. Missouri is such a great state! Love it, well except for the midwife situation! :)
All of my extended family is in Indiana, where abouts are you? They are mostly around Indy and also the Cloverdale/Greencastle area.

We were just in Springfield last Wednesday. We went to Chuck E Cheese. DD has been seeing the commercials on TV lately, and saying "thats where I'm gonna go when I get bigger!" lol so we thought for her 4th bday she was "big enough"
We kept it a surprise from her until we pulled up in the parking lot. It was so fun! It was the first time for all of us.

My daughter is 18 months old. We looove the zoo and take frequent trips there, if anyone is interested in getting together. Or I'm always up for picnics at the park or a lunch/play date. If anyone is interested, PM me or reply to this thread.

It's so awesome now! Well, it was still awesome before :giggle:
I love how they encourage you to schedule meetings there (like LLL) and they have classes...babywearing, cloth diapering, birth choices

Hey Springfield mama. My almost 18 month old has outgrown a lot of his toys, so we would like to sell them to fund buying "bigger kid" toys for him. If you have any older toddler toys that you would like to trade with mine, please offer them up. I would love to make trades for stuff we can use. My son loves animals, Little People, and superhero stuff. I would love to find him a good kitchen to play with as well.
The prices are listed. I didn't want to overload on pics, so I just took a pic of the biggest items for sale but can get pics of anything else if requested. All my toys are in very good to excellent used condition. None are broken or stained and all work properly with batteries (if needed).
-Fisher-Price Peek-a-Blocks Gobble 'N Go Hippo...$10
-Fisher-Price Counting Corn Popper...$7
-Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Song & Story Learning Chair...$15
-Fisher-Price Bounce & Spin Zebra...$30
-A couple activity cubes...$3 each
-Shape sorters (2)...$3 each
-Busy Ball Popper...$10
-A bunch of various smaller toys, too many to list...$1-$15 each
PM me with interest. You will have to pick up from my house in SW Springfield. I also have some diapers for sale in my store (see link below) that if you want to pick up it will save you on shipping. I also have a boppy pillow knock-off (from Wal-Mart) that I need to get rid of if interested.

Hi, everyone. I'm in Lincoln County. My hubby and I are TTC and decided to do cloth because of his super sensitive eczema skin. We figured that our children are fairly likely to have the same sensitive skin, and if dh had to be in plastic and perfume and chemicals all day, he'd be red and blistery! The more I read about sposies, the more reasons I found for using cloth, and there are so many great choices and gadgets these days to make cloth easier! Anyways, I went to Cotton Babies on Saturday for their "garage sale." Everyone was soooo nice and helpful. I really love that store and will definitely go back, though it's a little to far to go really regularly. (That's a good thing for my checking account!)
I had a question, and I'm not sure if this is where I should post it or not, but I was wondering where those of you in the St. Louis area gave birth and if you liked the hospital. Also, did you use cloth there or were they at least open to the idea? If you're willing to answer that question, I'd really appreciate it. You can post on here, or if you'd rather pm me, that'd be just fine. Thanks!

Welcome JessB! I am in Maryland Heights. St Louis County if that helps! We are pretty much at the cross roads of 270 and 70.
Good for you on the research of cloth vs disposables and your decision to go cloth!!! Becareful tho, it can be addictive :giggle2:
I was going to try and answer your question about the hospitals. With our first son we had him at St Johns right there at 270 and 40. It was ok. I really liked my post partum nurse. I didn't use cloth then. My ds was 5 mos old before we started cd'ing. This time, we are delivering at St Lukes. I am going to be taking cloth along with sposies cause we are expecting twins and don't know how big they will be or when they will be born. I am due the 14th of Jan but I have a feeling they may come the end of Dec. I have heard good things about St Lukes. There are some nurses there that love when a mom comes in, in labor and wants a natural birth and will help that mom out as much as possible to have that birth. I will be calling this week to get a tour of the maternity floor and will be asking lots of questions too. I am much more educated this time around! I hope they are open to the idea of my using cloth on my ds's tushes!! Hey, I might even educated some of the nurses there and convert some, who knows

Hey... I just found this section of DS, I am in St Louis, High RIdge more specifically. I was begining to think I was the only one around here the CD'd. If it wasn't for CottonBabies, I would be positive I was the only one. STL Mama's arent we supposed to talk about what high school we went to or something (have you heard this... That all STL people always ask what HS you went to)
i am from st louis my dad lived in house springd what high school did you go to LOL

I do get asked this fairly regularly! I grew up in MI, so I never have a very satisfying answer. But my husband went to SLUH, so I just pass that on to the native STLians.

This time of year it is much nicer to be here in MO with the budding flowers and nice weather then the muddy, flooding, grey MI weather. :)
I do miss Rockford so much though! I grew up one block from downtown. We used to walk to the library and Rocky's and the dam and the Corner Bar for hotdogs all the time! My parents sold the house last year so I can't really "go home" anymore. :(

I'm a MO transplant originally from AK. I married a WI boy who couldn't wait to get back to the midwest :giggle: We've lived in Kirksville (Adair Cty) for 7.5 years now.
While I've just joined DS, I've known about it for quite some time. I have four kids, ages 16(g), 11(b), 7(g) & 3(g), and cloth diapered my two youngest. I used flannel fitteds my mom made from an awesome Canadian pattern on my 7 yo and Fuzzi Bunz on my 3yo. We no longer need diapers but my oldest and I both use cloth for our monthlies so I would still consider us a cloth family  . I am debating what to do with my stored diapers...they are so beautiful and it's hard to say goodbye, but what else will I do with them?
Anyway, it's cool to see other cloth mamas from nearby--I'm thinking the closest of you were in Columbia? We visit there quite frequently for doctors' appointments for my son (he has jra). Blessings to all!

PollyJoy- my inlaws live just north of Kirksville outside of Queen City on a farm. Before we had the twins, we were going to the farm at least once a month. Since the babies were born, we have gone 2 times. I hope we increase that as the babies get older.
Have you heard of Pioneer Days? Every year at the end of July to the beginning of August, Queen City has their town fair. Kids in 4H are involved, there is music and food, contests, all kinds of neat things! My fil and mil are very involved in the whole thing. Kinda fun! We make sure we go every year! Can't wait for this year!

I am in Kansas City, MO. there is a great store in Lee's Summit called Happybottomus. Brookie Lee is very helpful. If you are looking for a diaper service can I suggest calling BA clothdiapering. I am not sure of the number off hand but I know it can be googled.

We are temporarily in the Affton area. We have not sold our house in OK, so we are staying with my in-laws until we sell our house and buy a new one. Do you other twin mama's belong to the twin club? I was really active in my local club at home. I am planning to attend my first meeting this month.
We should try to meet up soon! Do you guys get the Cotton Babies newsletter? They started a storytime the last Friday of each month. We went last week and had a great time. Maybe we could all attend this month?! Also, they are having a bday party/fashion show on Saturday the 13th. My boys are actually going to be a part of the fashion show. There will also be a storytime and giveaways!
