I lived in Grande Prairie for a year and yearned to come back to Edmonton the entire time I was there - must be a northern Alberta thing LOL. Though we've recently been considering a job possibility in Grande Cache, which is way out in the boonies. How much longer until you come back to Edmonton?

I've bought almost all my stash from FSOT here on DS. I got to try all sorts of different dipes too until I found my faves, and then stocked up on those ones. I've had great luck reselling locally too - so I didn't lose money having to ship them to buyers off here.

I'm not really on a budget, but I figured I could get some a bit cheaper than buying brand-new, because I'm not thrilled about spending 2-300 right away, but I know I need quite a few for the newborn days ahead of me :)

There are several people in town selling their CD you just have to know where to look.
We do have a few stores that sell CD. Bo Bebe has several stores from far NW to far SW. Community Natural Foods carries gDiapers and Walmart actually carries covers, liners and flats. There are a few consignments stores as well that carry new CD and used CD.
Let me know if you are wanting any more info on these places

So for those of you who actually us prefolds, where do you get them? I'd love new but I don't have to go that route. I'm in Lacombe and I just don't know where to shop and price out prefolds without breaking the bank. Can anyone help?
cearanskylar
04-22-2008, 02:39 PM
I've been looking too.
Our local shops charge $3 each and up for a prefold!!!
When I price it out it was cheaper to order from little lion as a one stop shop get your covers etc.
I am actually going to start using my cache of diaper making stuff and make a bunch but I do need to buy some.
PS - I am in Calgary, AB
rawheid
04-22-2008, 03:06 PM
I've been making fitteds too but I really wanted to add some prefolds to the stash and I jsut can't afford to. At used $25/doz from a diaper service I can make a lot of fitteds. Shipping really sucks. I was thinking about going through a coop to buy prefolds and they sent me this link http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/ce_003.htm#ep2041503 and for lets say 4 doz prefolds (approx 10 lbs) it was goint to cost $72. I can make a ton of fitteds for that price. I'd even consider making prefolds at that price. If I could get prefold twill at fabricland for a good price.

It would be June for me.

Ok I need some help, I've been trying to figure out prefold shipping on the diaper chatter forum, but the prob is that everyone who helps is from the US and they don't know about our stupid shipping costs. So for those of you who actually us prefolds, where do you get them? I'd love new but I don't have to go that route. I'm in Lacombe and I just don't know where to shop and price out prefolds without breaking the bank. Can anyone help?
Hi there, I own an online cloth diaper store based in Ponoka and allow free pick-up for local customers. :goodvibes:

Thanks for the offer, but I actually counted how many fitteds that I had currently made and believe it or not I have made 35 NB and I've cut out close to 24 smalls. I could hardly believe it!!! So I think that I should stop with the diapers. But I've been to your site and if I need anything I'll give you a call since I'm in Lacombe.

Haven't been doing cloth for awhile because of moving & not having covers big enough since ds3 grew out of the nb's I made. I actually have a metal clothes rack in hallway upstairs and will hang them dry all year long there. Sometimes I hang them in the bathroom on the shower curtain rack or on bedroom drawers if I run out of room. :giggle2: It helps if you can put in dryer for a bit to fluff them up after or else partly dry them in dryer and then hang them up to finish drying. Our basement is way too cool to dry anything down there :giggle:

I totally know what you mean. We would love to have a third Child my DH has always wanted four but it just never seems to be affordable in this day. we would love to try for that little girl but we are on the fence about having another one because of money. Thats kinda why i decided to switch to cding because it is way cheaper in the end for diapering.

If you're not against ebay diapers, I ordered a bunch of Coolababy All-in-one's and I love them (AND they are very affordable compared to some). Will probably be ordering some more for this little guy (on the way) too. My friend runs diapersupply.ca and she has second hand diapers listed on her site too if you want to check that out. It is hard to do it frugally but it can be done.

Edmonton mamas,
we are considering a move out your way. I am from Vancouver, but lived in Calgary for 10 yrs and loved it...
Can you tell me what you love about Edmonton. What's it like? And where should I look for a house if I want a nice family oriented area???
THANKS!!!:goodvibes:

hello, I'm a ALBERTA Mom here too. My sister lives in Millwoods and they are going to CD their upcoming 1st baby. I'm so excited for her. She's going to use my newborn and small diapers and we're going to make her their own med/large diapers.

Hi ladies!
I'm a newbie mom just figuring out this cloth diaper stuff. I never thought I'd ever get so excited about diapers! :)
Anyway I'm from the Olds area, which is between RedDeer and Calgary.
Nice to meet you all!

I'm just outside Edmonton. First baby, so haven't used cloth diapers before but am eager to try it out. Been looking around for good deals.

Hi moms!!
My family and I recently moved to Calgary from BC.. So far we're enjoying it, but havent met any other moms and kids my sons age :( We're in the SE, so if any of you are down this way with kids close to 2 years I would love to set up a play date!!! I also have a one month old little boy.. :)
