Hooray! People local to me! Actually, I have a feeling I've met you both before, through the momsanddads club? And I hate ND drivers, I feel serious disdain when I have to drive home from work. Everytime I get cut off or someone is going really slowly in front of me, it is ALWAYS an ND plate. :giggle:
There are actually enough ND momma's to have a get together :p
let's do a QOD (question of the day):
How long have you lived in ND?
pixilated
01-18-2008, 06:42 AM
Almost all of my life, except for the years the military sent me elsewhere(Nebraska when I was 4, and Louisiana for 2 years in 1999)
Thing is, it's not the ND drivers, it's all the transplants that came with Microsoft(at least, that's what I'm blaming it on). That, and the traffic is so much worse on 13th and 45th than it used to be, especially during rush hour. I do kind of miss small town Fargo.
GrumpyJoy
01-18-2008, 08:48 AM
I've lived in ND all my life. Ha, rush hour, we don't have one of those here.
I moved from here ****inson to Bismarck to Lincoln to Bismarck to ****inson to Bismarck and finally back to ****inson.
Here's the article:
http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/2008-01/emptied-north-dakota/bowden-text.html
And no it's not good. The Governor responded to it, but I can't seem to find his response online, I think it was in the Bismarck Tribune.
Where is the farthest from ND you have been?
I went to Hawaii on my honeymoon.

Oh, and I haven't gone to the momsanddadsclub yet, but I should be able to try it out next fall when DS #2 starts kindergarten(it's full day where I am). Right now he attends morning preschool, so the playgroup schedule doesn't work out for me.
Going to try and get to a LLL meeting next month though(DS #3 is due in mid-April). First time I've ever been to one, there wasn't a local LLL with my first, and my 2nd was born in Louisiana.
And Fargo moms, was it one of you that donated a brand new Ergo carrier to Savers? If so, bless your heart, because I managed to buy it for $2.49.

Good luck with that! You must be getting anxious and so excited to meet your little man! I know I was going out of my mind after Jaci had hers. I wanted mine to come so bad!!!!! :chuckle: You mentioned borrowing your ergo in my thread yesterday. If you happen to be in town or you don't mind me driving out, I would love to look at one and try one on. I think that hardest part of finding what works for you is having to buy all these things and test them out. It would be great to try something out before I buy it this time around. I hate the thought of sending the lo to daycare just so I can clean. LMK, I greatly appreciate your generousity!

03-26-2008, 09:19 PM
A lot of pain :( It is basically your doc going in and pushing their fingers between the bag of water and the uterine wall (where, presumably, baby would be engaged). You know how a wet plastic bag will stick to a plastic or glass bowl? That is kind of the idea.
Dr Carver is incredibly rough and I've heard it isn't supposed to be nearly as bad. I believe them, because there was a HUGE difference between some of the nurses who checked my cervix and her.

03-26-2008, 10:03 PM
Nope, I have Burrell. I've only seen Carver once(just so I could meet the other 2 midwives on staff). I am anxious, not only to meet the baby(a boy), but just to be done being pregnant.
Oh..and for a decaf Milky Way latte from the coffee cart in the lobby. :giggle:
I am heading into Fargo tomorrow, I could certainly grab the Ergo and let you try it. It was one of my mega-great finds at Savers. $2.49, brand new. I never ordered the infant insert, so I wasn't going to use it for a few months anyway, I have a pouch sling and a Bjorn(again..another Savers find, brand new for $2.99) to use for the early months.
If you won't be at work tomorrow, I am planning on being in Fargo again on Monday morning. I'm meeting MIL at Savers to teach her the ways of shopping there. :giggle:

I figured you might not have seen it. I ended up not even getting into town until 1 today. I will be at Savers on Monday until around 10:30, I have to head back home then to pick 5yo up at preschool.

oooh, have fun! I just did some more last week. If you are using blue, be careful. I dyed with it twice now and had issues both times.:headscratch:
pixilated
03-28-2008, 04:56 PM
Crap, what kind of issues? I did buy a blue. Actually two different shades of blue.
Nesting hit big time today. I got the pumps and storage bottles all sterilized, and now I have the major urge to clean the kitchen completely.
Anyway, barring me going into labor, I will be at Savers on Monday morning.
Keropisunshine23
03-28-2008, 05:14 PM
I used the ocean blue and the royal blue and they just didn't take. I actually stopped using them because after several washes, lo's butt kept winding up blue! It is wierd because I actually dyed 4-6 dipes in each batch and with the blue ones, the first batch is the funky ones, the other ones where I was just reusing the dye to get lighter colors did not give me problems.
Ahh, the nesting stage.

I could have been doing something wrong... But it really only was the four darkest blue that the dye didn't set...weird.

Hey Fargo ladies! I am going to Fargo tomorrow, are there any good baby stores, and do any sell cloth diapers?
pixilated
04-04-2008, 11:57 PM
Nope, none that sell cloth diapers, at least not the good ones. As for good baby stores, it depends on what you are looking for. Burlington Coat Factory just opened up not too long ago, and they do have a decent sized baby section, with a great selection of items, it's better than what Toys R Us has now. And then there's always Once Upon a Child and Kinder Kloset for secondhand baby/kid items.
So, has anyone else been out enjoying the nice weather the last few days? I even put my clothesline up so I could dry clothes outside(well that, and my dryer decided to quit working on Tuesday) I sure hope the forecast is wrong about the nasty four letter word we're supposed be getting tomorrow night.

How have I missed this thread this whole time? Crazy!
It's great to see so many ND mamas on here! :) I had to laugh at the editing of Di ckinson! :D
I'm in Fargo but grew up in Grand Forks. We lived in the south for a while and DD was born there, but we knew as soon as she came that we'd want to be closer to family and raise our kids in our home region. We've been in Fargo for 4 years and LOVE it! In GF we always used to disparage Fargo a little bit, so I wasn't sure how we'd like it, but it is awesome!
A while ago I talked to a manager at Once Upon a Child and she said that they used to carry Kushies but they didn't sell very well, so they discontinued them. :(
WOW on that Ergo deal at Savers! Apparently I need to check out the baby supply areas more when I go there (which is pretty frequently ;)).

Well, I had every intention of going to the meeting, however, the baby had other ideas.
Michael was born on April 15th, 9:20am, 7lbs 2 oz, and 20inches long, after an 8 hour labor(the tub was fantastic, I don't know if I would've made it too transition without it). He's nursing like a champ, my milk came in before I even left the hospital. He's already in his cloth too, well, the Kissaluv's, Very Baby's and prefolds, as that is all that fits so far. I wish now I'd bought more KL0's and Very baby's, as they are so easy to use, and fit him great even now.

Oh Keropi, I gotta tell you, the prefolds I bought from you have saved me. The unbleached infant prefolds I have are still too big, too bulky on his little behind, but the white ones fit him perfectly. And the Snappi too, my old snappi's are too stretched out to use for him right now. And he's reminded me why I like using cloth so much on newborns, the dozen or more dirty diapers a day. I would've gone thru at least 3 packages of disposables already if I didn't use cloth.
Now, if the weather would just warm up, so I could bring him outside and get us both some fresh air. I'm starting to go a little stir crazy.

Now, if the weather would just warm up, so I could bring him outside and get us both some fresh air. I'm starting to go a little stir crazy.
greh, it is supposed to be cold this weekend too, but once it warms up we HAVE to get together.

No, I never did get them dyed, as when I was going too, my dryer quit working. So, I had enough laundry problems going on at the time. I am still going to do it though, eventually. :giggle:
And where the heck did our beautiful spring weather go? I had to haul out the carseat cover this morning so Ds wouldn't be cold when I was driving his brother to preschool.

I took pics, but don't have them uploaded. The funny part is that when I took the pics our cars were absolutely covered, I swear, at least a foot of snow on them, but when we go to leave this evening, we didn't even have to brush them off. Here's hoping it melts quickly.

nope:giggle2: I emailed Jaci just to make sure, although I was thinking she wouldn't be selling off her stash... I think we both inquired about that persons stash. I do have a wool soaker, leggings and some wipe soap on there atm, though.... I was also thinking about moving up a size and posting my dyed prefolds pretty soon though....

Although Keropi, I may be interested in the soaker, I haven't had the chance to get to sewing the recycled soakers I was going to make, and I've discovered DS does need something that breathes for night-time.
New little one is just fine, he's getting chubby. I'm going to get some new pictures up on photobucket today and post them.

Hello there!!! I'm in MN but I thought I'd just pop in here! I live not too far from the MN/ND border. I occasionally work in Grand Forks, I have some cousins that live there, and my little sis goes to UND. I have alot of family from Crookston (on the mm side). Lets see what else, oh my brother lives in North Fargo, and works at a daycare center and coaches wrestling in Fargo. I occasionally go to Moorhead to see my dentist and visit my bro. About once or twice a year I have to work in Fargo, but now that I'm pregnant again I won't be doing that anymore.
I'm really excited to see other's CD in our region!
Did anyone else get snow today? Blah we did this morning, but thank goodness it didn't stay. 2 weeks ago we got a huge storm and we ended up with almost 15inches here.

Huh, the meeting cursed me..woke up yesterday morning with mastitis. j/k, weird timing though. I was so sure I'd beat it this time, but no. It's like clockwork, every child, around 5-6 weeks after birth, I get it. The worst is the alternating chills/hot flashes I keep getting. Hopefully I'll wake up tomorrow and the fever will have broken, tylenol/advil is only working well enough to get my temp down to 100 or so.
And I don't think that was me Jaci, I haven't gone to tender transitions yet. Oh, I gotta tell you, Ds stayed home with DH last night while I took myself into urgent care(thank goodness for my freezer stash, let me tell you)I came home to DS in a snappi'd prefold, with a Bumkin's AIO as the cover. :giggle:
He did the prefold just because I'd teased him about never doing one.
Jaci
05-22-2008, 09:46 PM

I'm soo sorry about the mastitis. I have been lucky so far, *knocks on wood* it sounds really awful. Are you taking antibiotics? Just make sure to get a probiotic too if you have to take the antibiotics.
Cute about DH!
pixilated
05-22-2008, 09:57 PM
Yep, I already had some probiotics, taking them as a preventative, so I just upped the dosage from one pill to two, plus I bought some Activia yogurt. The soreness is at least better, I nursed him on the infected side tonight(I'd been pumping it the rest of the day) and it didn't hurt like it did yesterday.

Aww, this thread makes me sad, LOL.
I'm Shay, grew up in Ohio, and was stationed at Minot AFB. As a single person, I couldn't wait to leave. Then I met my hubby (also stationed there). We got married, and our little London was born at Trinity hospital. Dr. Fischbach (for some reason the spelling doesn't look right anymore) was supposed to deliver her but his knees gave out, and Dr. Knutson (who was a flight surgeon I worked for in the Air Force, but had gotten out) ended up delivering her with Dr. Carver watching over him.
(a little plug for Dr. Scott Knutson! If you are in need of a family practice (i think that's what he was doing) physician, he's AWESOME! he's very knowledgeable and was the best doctor I ever worked with!!!)
anyway, now we live in Texas, and I would do ANYTHING to move back to Minot. It's so simple, and people have FAMILY VALUES! It's a total 180 from the fast paced life of down here. I would love for my daughters to go to school up there. However, I married a Texan, and have a feeling we won't ever leave this state. LOL!
anyway, I just wanted to say HI!

I just discovered this forum. Am so excited to meet local CDers! Everyone I know IRL looks at me like I grew a third eye when I tell them I CD.
I am in Moorhead, too. Born and raised in ND. Heading out to central ND to visit my mom and grandparents this weekend. I have two LOs, ds is every bit of three...and dd was born in Feb.
I work in the school too, so will be SAHM (Yea!) for the summer, starting on Friday!

Hi everyone, I just found this thread and hope I am replying in the right area. I am new to DS and am trying to navigate my way around. I finally figured out how to add pictures! I was reading the most recent posts and have to agree with you all about the rain! I have 1 husband, 1 daughter and 2 dogs, in Fargo, who are going stir crazy looking at the living room walls!
I have a question for you all. I am new to clothe diapering. M is my first child, she was born premature so we used dispoables until a month ago, when she finally grew enough to fit in her 'poo-pockets'. They are still a little big but folding them over helps. My problem is that she is constantly leaking from her dc. I have 3 mother-ease, 2 bummis and 3 green earth. the mother-ease have been working the best but are more difficult to put on. When she really starts moving (squirming) it will be a challenge to get her snapped up. I really like the Bummis velcro but they leak each time. What am I doing wrong? M is 4 1/2 mo and only 12 lbs. She is LOOOONG and skinny. Any suggestions?

Is she leaking at the leg or up by the stomach? How often are you changing her, and what were the Poopockets made from? Are you using a snappi or pins to fasten the poopocket?

Welcome to our thread! Am I to understand you are using pre-folds? (Not really sure what a poo pocket is...sorry.) If so, make sure all of the pre-fold is tucked into the cover. My DH used to not pay attention and leave part of the pre-fold out of the back of the cover and it would leak all over his clothes. Also, using a jelly roll when putting the pre-fold on will help keep the poo in by creating a pocket. (Roll the sides of the diaper in before folding up. Maybe Jaci knows a better way to explain it...) I use Thirsties because they have a leg gusset which also helps keep it all in. Any cover I have used without a gusset has leaked for us because my little man is so skinny. (13lbs at 6.5 months) Hope this helps.....

Summer-this is a poopocket...http://www.poopockets.com/
BTW, I am now completely sold on thirsties. The cover I bought fits DS fantastically, even over a MEOS(which I just pulled out today to try the fit, and they work now)

That would be awesome. You are so generous, first your ergo, then your pattern. Thanks! Now that I have my own sewing area and I super excited to get to work on making some stuff. I am for sure gonna have to whip something up for you!:goodvibes: I am working on designing a hanging pail atm. I don't want a zipper. I whipped one together a few weeks ago that we are using and I love it, but I just quickly threw it together and I want to redesign the handles.

Here's the deal though, I give you the fabric, and you make me one too. :giggle: That way, I can see what I'm doing when I actually get around to making some for myself. Besides, don't you have a serger? :drif: I just have a sewing machine, a new in the box sewing machine. :giggle: I do still have every intention to sew/embellish diapers myself, just haven't had the time or energy to do it yet. I have a whole stack of flannel fitteds I got here on DS for cheap that I intend to dye/embellish/fix up to make them more usable.
Speaking of dyeing, now that I can use them on DS, I'm washing the rest of MEOS I have so I can dye them. Using the dylon I bought way back when to do it.

Sure, I bet Jaci would be interested too so maybe you can get two dipes made out of the deal:giggle2:

welcome! it sounds like there is either a) gaping at the legs of the covers or b) the covers are wicking moisture to the legs and waist where it is leaking out. Make sure to get the cover nice and tight around the legs and waist, and make sure the dipe is completely tucked in!

Thanks, I just looked up thirsties - wow what a lot of colors! Poo Pockets are the CD equivelant to the thirsties cover. I was researching different CD and asked my mother-in-law, who lives in Mpls, to go and look at some of the options and emailed her the different stores. As a joke I added a link to a site that said 'sew your own diapers'. A week later I got sample diapers in the mail with a note asking us to choose which we liked best. Poo-pockets were the winner and she proceeded to sew up several dozen organic flannel diapers. The diapers work great and do contain the poo. But when she's wearing the Bummis SWW she inevitably gets wet all over. And that's even after checking to make sure everything is tucked in. So I was wondering if I was doing something wrong ir if anyone else struggled with Bummis.

06-05-2008, 04:12 PM
2dogs1kid- Hmm, no I've never personally had a big problem with Bummi's leaking, I've used both the SWW and the front snaps. Wicking problems sometimes if DS sits in a wet diaper too long, but no actual leaks.
She could just be a super soaker, so you may need to add doublers to the diapers. Flannel does also have a tendency to lose absorbency over time.
I have actually been getting a bunch of laundry washed today. Folded and put away however, that's another story. :giggle2: The only things that get folded and put away right away are baby clothes and diapers.

Fortunately she has not spread poo all over, but we go through multiple changes of clothes everyday between her projectile spit-ups and wet diapers. Sometimes I feel like we change her every hour.

I would add some doublers to her diapers, see if that helps. I really don't think it's the covers.

What type of diapers does everyone use? What is your fav dipe?

another prefold, snappi, and cover girl. I've used pockets (BG OS and FBs) for daycare before, but once I got the go ahead from them that they'd use PFs and covers, I sold those right up.
If I could afford it...or knit...I'd go to wool full time instead of baby clothes.

Currently, mostly prefolds myself. Bumkin's AIO's for sitters and DH to use. But my favorite brand of fitteds and AI2's is Luke's Drawers. I have quite a stash of them, but only 2 currently fit decently. DS's legs are still a bit too small for the Luke's Drawers one size diapers.
And I am now hooked on Thirsties. It's a good thing I've started back at work(first night tonight, dang I'm tired) so I can afford to buy more. :giggle:

As said before we are using poo-pockets in an organic flannel and covers. We use the covers to keep the diaper closed otherwise we'd need to use pins (yikes). I got some snappi's and what a great idea they are - but they do not work with flannel. When M outgrows her pockets I have a few dozen one-size diapers from Mother-ease. We're not using them now because they are so bulky between her legs. But when she's bigger I'm sure they'll be great. I am looking at getting some AIO for daycare. M will start in the fall when I start student teaching. My provider is a bit set in her ways - I'm not sure she'll be up for CD. But maybe showing her the AIO will help her change her mind. Have any of you used Kushies? They seem like a nice AIO and reasonably priced. I am going to go look up Lukes Drawers - I've not heard of them before.
Wow can you believe the day today. I feel like we've been given a gift! I replanted some flowers this morning, and hope to get beans and carrots in this afternoon.
Since I'm new here I am wondering how many of you are SAHM's?

Yay sun!!! Finally, I can hang clothes up outside. Some of Ds's diapers desperately needed the sun too, he's been on a major poop spree lately.
Went garage saling today, it was city-wide sale day out here. Spent $12, got 5 bags full of clothes and other things. I finally found a garage sale that had baby boy clothes, so I was able to get the 3-6 month sleepers I needed for DS. And I hit a church sale, and found 2 great 100% wool sweaters that I'm going to be using to make longies and soakers. Plus a bunch of other stuff for the family.
Anyone going to Ribfest tonight? Youngest 2 are staying with my sister, and the rest of us are going, I've wanted to see Soul Asylum for years.
2dogs, I wasn't impressed with Kushies at all, but then I used them when my 5yo was a newborn. They may have changed in the past few years though.

I use pfs laid in FBs. I also have random other fitted diapers that a friend I babysit for has given me. I really want to make some fleece covers and recycled wool sweater longies. I've got some Thirsties.
I started with pfs, Snappis and Prowraps.
I'm a SAHM, altho' I have been babysitting for a friend at her house 3 afternoons a week. So, I guess I do WOHM. But I still consider myself a SAHM. :lol
I wanted to go yardsaling, but have been trying to clean house since DH is home and can keep busy little fingers out of my way. Of course, I don't need anything, and I'm trying to declutter. Haha!

I actually bought these as my first cloth diaper and ended up returning the two packages I didn't open and selling/trading the rest. They work for some people, but everyone I know who has tried them has had major poo leakage. I do not recommend them, however I love my Thirsties AIOS. I almost sold them but have been using them every laundary cycle since I decided not sell. They are great for babysitters who don't know how to cd and quick trips.

We use Bumgenius One Size pocket diapers for both kids (2 and 5 months). I just ordered some of the new Organic BG AIO One Size diapers and can't wait to try them out!
My kids have super sensitive skin and my daughter got diaper rash when I tried prefolds. During the day it was fine to change her after every time she wet in the prefolds, but every morning she'd have a rash. I think because the BG dipes have a layer that stays dry they don't give her a rash. I hope the new AIO OS dipes work as well as the pockets do - I'd love to skip the stuffing step for two kids!

I use my Fuzzibunz as covers, but they are pocket diapers, while my DD's between med and Large, I'll prolly use them as pockets. They get damp anyway, so I switch every time to let them dry. Unless you've got poo, you can do that several times. I need to strip them, I think.

We do - but we have differnt slings that we prefer. I have a Storchen Wiege that I love! I can carry M front, back facing, hip carry later and when she toddles I can put her on my back. My husband prefers the Maya Sling as you can see in the pic. My concern is that she is unable to sit by herself and look around or play with things. For now it's not a problem - I am at home and have no prob doing dishes or vacuuming with her and we have great (one-sided) conversations. But in a weak we move down to the cities to go live with Gran and Gramps while I finish my M.Ed at the main U. Have I created a monster? And what happens in the fall when I go back to work and she's in daycare all day??? I have small breakdowns over this almost daily! The other issue that has come up with wearing her is that she does not have a napping schedule. She will sleep long and hard while on me (like 2 hours) but if I am holding her, like after feeding her and then try to put her in her crib for a nap she will only sleep for 10-20 minutes.
So I don't know if this has been good for her or if I've created a monster:blush:

If you are looking for suggestions on how to transition from sleeping in a sling to sleeping in a crib, we are reading No Cry Sleep Solution and it has some good tips. Tuesday nights in June and July are terrible for me, DS has baseball games at 7pm.
And Soul Asylum was great, as long as you ignored that horrible jokes that Dave Pirner kept saying. :giggle:
Speaking of the swing, DS is sleeping in there now, first real nap of the day. :banghead: As I've mentioned before, I'd love to babywear, just can't find a carrier that works well right now. DS hates the Hotsling(keeping it though in case he likes it better later on, esp once he's big enough to hip carry) and the Kangaroo Korner pouch I have is too small. Plus, he's too young for the Ergo. Only carrier I own that I can use with him is the Bjorn, which kills my lower back and shoulders if I use it for too long.

We mostly use pockets. I did fitteds and covers w/dd in newborn sizes and they were fine, but I just like pockets better. She is in mostly med Swaddlebees now. I don't really know what we will do next with her as she is really too small for most med. but too big for smalls...
For baby wearing, we have a maya wrap and a mei tai, I used the maya alot with ds, but dd doesn't really being worn as well. She is so mellow and calm and doesn't really need to be carried as much as he did.
Ok. Nap time is over. Gonna get ds outside before it ralns again!

If anyone in the area is looking for a cloth-friendly provider, I recommend ABC Infant Daycare in south Moorhead. It is a baby-only center and I liked them (naturally as with any daycare, there were things I liked and disliked) and they even did pfs and covers with us.
Finding daycare was literally a gut wrenching issue! There were record births in the Fargo Moorhead area in Feb. (DD born mid Jan) and now everyone is looking for infant care. A few weeks ago I was on the phone with a provider who I had put my name on the waiting list. She told me that another woman had said she couldn't even find bad daycare. I literally spent days sobbing. I finally got to the point were I would just ask if they had an opening. The first opening I came across I put my deposit down right away! Luckily I think and hope it will work out. It's a private home; the woman is in her late 50's and all the kids call her 'Gammy' because her grandsons are there. I called some of the other parents for references and they all love her! And added bonus she's only 2 blocks from us! We also have a deposit in a new center daycare - Juniors on Main, just in case the first one doesn't work out. Unfortuneately money is an issue as well. I have not worked since the middle of December when I was put on bedrest. This fall I student teach, so by the time I go back to my real job I will have not earned a paycheck in a year:nervous: As much as we loved the center with it's lesson plans and seperated age groups - we just can't afford it

Kristin, tell me about record births! Connor was born in October, there were so many births at Meritcare (though Connor was born at Innovis) that the news did a story on it, because it was the most births Meritcare had ever done in a month! It has been nearly impossible to find clothes in Connor's size on clearance, I know all too well the trouble with finding daycare. I did get on ABC's list about two months prior to Connor being born but that was all I could find.
Did I see you mention you are going to be out of town for student teaching?
I am bringing DH to the meeting tonight and DS will be in the Ergo, so I'm sure we'll notice each other :D

DD and I are leaving DH next Monday and living with my in-laws in the cities until the end of July. UGHH - all the planning and packing. This little tiny person has SO much stuff!
Hooray on the cheap Bumbo. We were given one and DD is sitting in it so well. I bought the tray that connects to it so she can have toys infront of her to play with. We bought an exercise saucer at a garage sale last week - $10. It has been the best buy - definately bought our 10 dollars worth already! DD can't roll over, hates tummy time but is sitting (supported or in the bumbo) and loves to stand in the saucer. I love garage sales!
Back to the daycare issue - I randomly ran into a teacher I worked with and we talked about daycare issues. She recommended Trinity Lutheran in Moorhead. I called them today and got DD put on the waiting lost for late next spring. Their program sounds great and it's accredited, which is important to me. So things are looking up. If I don't like my home daycare lady I can move onto someplace else.
Yeah Sunshine - got out for 2 walks today. One with just the doggies and then one with DD.

Someone on Mothering helped me find a doctor, so I can relax about that now.
And yes the sun, I did dry diapers outside, plus 2 loads of clothes. I had to rush right before the storm hit to take them all off the line though, I wanted them out there as long as possible, apparently I kept them out there too long.
DS slept through the night(and still asleep). I'm awake simply because I had to pump, I tried to fall back to sleep, but was too sore. Now, to see how well the MEOS I have on him held up all night.
And more sunshine today!

The meeting was good. It is a monthly thing too, second Tuesday of every month, if you want to go. Good luck in the cities, that sounds a bit scary!
What doc did you pick? We see Dr. Rohla who is okay about us delay vax'ing but his nurses are such a PITA.

Dr. Lidia at Meritcare children's, my oldest has seen her in the past, and I did remember she was very pro bf'ing, plus the mama at mothering said she also won't give a hard time about vaxes either. So, I'll be making an appt. for him on Monday.

Pixilated: (sorry don't know your name!) I just saw Lidia on Monday. I like her, we used to see TwoBears, til she left Meritcare and she recommended her. Anyhow..she mentioned at our appt on Mon that she was heading to Poland (I think) for a chunk of time this summer, soon I think. We were talking about our 6 month appt in early Aug and she said she would be back for that. So anyhow, you may want to call asap to get an appt.

Aww booger, I'll have to see if she's still around next week then to get DS in. Thanks for the heads up!
You know, I wish my old family practice doctor wasn't so popular, and was taking new patients. I loved her, but we moved to LA for a few years, and then lost her.
Oh, and Keropi, I only had DS at Innovis because I wanted a midwife. Really, if the Stork's nest had still been open, I would've gone there to have him, but since it was closed, I picked the next best thing. Otherwise, the kids have always gone to Meritcare doctors.
Keropisunshine23
06-14-2008, 02:09 AM
Ahh... I don't really know much about Innovis. We have always used Meritcare because that is who our network provider is. It was Dakota Clinic when I signed up for insurance and I can only change providers so often and I have just always stayed with Meritcare because I like my oldest DS doc so I felt no reason to change. Just seems like many mamas in LLL and on here use Innovis and I knew you had him there so I wasn't sure how easily you could switch networks. It is the pain for my policy, so I have never even tried.

That is one thing that makes DH's drive to work worth it, the insurance. It doesn't matter where I go for the doctor, it's all in network, and all covered.
Nasty weather tonight, I was at work, and the trees across the street from me were nearly sideways with the first storm. And yet I still managed to get a sunburn today, oldest had a baseball tournament in Enderlin in the morning.

Jaci, sorry to post this here for you, but I am feeling to lazy to go over to e-mail.... Anyway, someone posted this link for me on signing and I don't know if you have seen this sight, but they actually show you a video of someone doing the sign. I thought it was cool, especially for those harder to learn ones.

I know I missed this meeting, but could you tell me more about LLL? Like what do you do at the meetings? I don't need any help BFing, but I assume you do more than just talk about that the whole time at every meeting! I'd be interested in going to the next one if it was something that related to me and my family. Thanks! -- Kati

hey mamas. I moved my tupperware party to July 2nd because they didn't send me the stuff in time, but I think I am going to ask them to move it one more time something came up that night. I know some of you wanted to order, so just filling you in.....

How long can you get orders after your party? I'll be driving back from Washburn on the 2nd, so I can't do that either.
Oh, and will you be at work on Friday? I can drop the pattern off then if you will be. I have to do last-minute shopping for DS and camp that morning.

Jaci, I don't know what my problem is, but those shorties fit just fine over the green edge prefolds and the fitted. I must have been using the bulkier yellow edge the last two times I tried it on him.....SO, I am def going to keep them for now:mrgreen: The purple/green ones are def too big in the thighs though, so if you are interested....LMK

Pixel, are you using your ergo yet? If not, do you mind of I try it again? I think Kennyth may be old enough now. If you are, no big deal. I want to try and make a back carrier, I am just to busy right now.

We can talk about it tonight, but we can probably just trade baby sitting or something if you wanted. I'll bring them tonight if I still come over so you can have connor try them on. (Otherwise I will bring them over tomorrow.) I'm not too concerned because I could try and sell them or keep them for next kid. I almost hate to give them up because I love the colors, but Kennyth is just too darn skinny for them...... I have to go shopping for yarn. My mil os coming to town this weekend and I have to get her that stuff to make that three little pigs playset. :giggle2:

I know, I might see if Chris wants to switch, he likes being able to go in whenever, but it is getting sickening having him go in only to wait for sooo long.
When are you going yarn shopping? I talked to Chris, he is planning on being home (after IBR of course) this evening so if you are coming over I am going to be Connor free!

Not yet, he's really close to being able to go in it, his head control is just a little lacking(if he didn't hate tummy time so much, I bet his head control would be better). I'm going to make it work for DS's baseball tournament next month though, there is no way I'm carrying him in the Bjorn for 8 hours(or more) Otherwise, I'd be glad to borrow it to you again.
Hey Jaci/Keropi, either of you have any red edged GMD's? Ds is just rapidly outgrowing his current prefolds, and I wanted to check the size of them out before I ordered a bunch.

I understand about the bjorn.....I am so glad I am not using the snuggli and that I found otherways to wear my baby.....
I have yellow and brown. No red. Sorry, it is crazy to think he is outgrowing his pre-folds when my little man is still wearing some of his green edge and the yellow ones are still so bulky on him. Of course you mentioned your other boys grew awfully fast too.
Any chance we can meet up somewhere for that pattern tomorrow?
Jaci, maybe tonight. I do not know if I can convinve Kevin to watch Kennyth again tonight since he had them last night too....Poor baby....Anyway, we could go shopping. Little Kevin is going with his grandma this weekend, so maybe we could work on some sewing sometime this weekend. Next week I am working on new sleep schedules for everyone, myself included.... My milk will never bounce back if I don't start sleeping more.:yuck: Hopefully you can get out of the house and get a break from the baby:goodvibes: Chris's turn, right....

He might not be able to properly spread his hips still at that point (which was why we think Kennyth didn't enjoy it at the time Summer tried it originally). I think that is why 6 mo is the recommended age to go without the newborn insert. I remember when Connor reached that point where he was actually comfortable spreading his legs instead of froggying them, a lightbulb went off!
If you want to borrow my moby, you certainly could!
Connor is still in yellow gmds, though they are getting short in the rise. What size is your little one in now?

He has a tall rise, which is why he's outgrowing the current prefolds, they're all the current infant size(which I've noticed are 2-3 inches shorter than the infant prefolds I still had from 5yo)
I'm using the bikini twist, only fold that will work for him now. He's a big boy. He's wearing all of his one-size diapers now too.
Here, a current(as of yesterday) picture of him in his MPBBA set.
Keropi, I'll be at Target, and Savers at some point tomorrow, I have some exchanges to make at Savers. I'll be in town until 3 at the absolute latest though, I have to work tomorrow night.
Jaci..you should see my freezer, I don't have quite as big of a freezer stash as I did(since some of it's been getting used on nights I work) but it's still nice having it. With a hand pump, I can get 6-8 oz at a time, all within 15-20 minutes of pumping.

Starting in late August, I'll be able to do playgroup too. I'd try earlier, but I can hear my 12 yo whining about it already. :giggle: Besides, then harvest will start, and I'll only be working during one week of the month(if I don't quit completely that is)

Hello ladies -
I'm a MT girl right now - but my DH & I will be moving back to the good ole ND here next weekend (the 5th).
DH was born & raised in ND & I was raised in Eastern MT. We're VERY excited to get back to ND & settle down.
I'm due to have our 2nd baby boy in about 5.5-6 weeks. We're in the process of buying a house.
OH & we aren't FT Cloth yet - but plan to be FT cloth on both boys. We're just waiting to order more dipes until we are settled in our new house. I've got 8 dipes so far & have made my own cloth wipes.
okay - enough blabbing - just wanted to say hi!

Are any of you all interested in a wrap and/or other carrier class?
You can PM me with your email if interested, and I'll keep you updated, or watch for info on TheBabyWearer forums in the ND thread.
I have a friend here in town who is putting together a class in July, here's the info:
"Looks like the class will be Tues July 29, 11:30 to 1:00 pm. I think the main focus is showing how to wrap. Let me check if the people within our early intervention group (parents and providers) would like to see other carriers, I know I would, but that might be for another time.
If others on this website want to do a general babywearing (any carrier) Thurs the 24th, anytime (because I'm off that week ) let me know!
BECEP is 720 N 14th St in Bismarck. On the corner of Ave C and 14th."

Pixel, I could make more if you wanted some. The ones I made last time are quick to whip up and I have several scents. I have to make some for myself soon anyway. I could make more of the same kind I made last time since Jaci and I are still working on a signature recipe.
I def ended up cutting mine smaller. I also found that I didn't have to throw the solution after two days as I originally thought. (My testers all said they kept it for about a week without any problems...)
