Hello,

Just checking to see who else is out there. My daughter is 18 months old and in BumGenius & we love them. Just found out that we are expecting again, only triplets this time around. LORDY!

Anyway it'll be time to potty train soon...

Thought I'd see if anyone else is out there!

We're in Carmichael just a few blocks away (literally) from Sacramento. We're a fitted and wool family but I love Bumgenius for outings and babysitters.

I'm in Stockton, so I guess this would be the closest to me as well. I think this forum is a cool idea :) I have been wondering who might be around my area to be able to chat about local stores and such with.

Anyone know of any stores/boutiques that have cloth in them??

I just heard about them--I live right by the store and I stopped by once, but I haven't been to any meetings. I'm pretty shy so sometimes it's hard for me to do things for the first time.

i kwym about being shy. sometimes its hard. not to many mamas seem to use cloth their, but they are cool. mostly all of the bf and there are a couple of homebirthers too (like me). i really want to meet some other mamas that are as addicted to cloth like i am so i can talk to someone about it! lol

Okay Mommas, does anyone want to meet up for a playdate next week? We could meet at the Roseville Galleria Mall, they have an awesome play area for kids who need to burn off some steam and lots of seating for us moms. The area is right infront of sears in the mall, so if it rains it's OKAY!

How about Tuesday at 10? Who is in??? Just some mommas coming together for support, no pressure at all. We could move the day if it's not good for people.... POST & let me know!

Hope to see you all,
~Holly

Hi Ladies, I never scrolled down to see this area. I live in the Natomas area and have a 8 week old little boy. I am extremely addicted to cding. Oh yeah, my DH is gonna die this week, I am diving into WOOL!! I would love to meet up with you all, but I guess you have older DC. He actually has pictures that morning at 11am at that Sears, and a Ped appt at 2:30pm, so we will be in RSVL. I grew up there! So glad there are other CDing mommas. My friends, and most of my family thinks I am crazy.

Anyone who wants to come is welcome (janiceandscott)! I'm looking fwd to seeing the "goodmammas" I've heard awesome things about them. Let's leave the time at 10, and if it's too early for some folks, then just come a bit later. I'd think we'll be there till around noon... next time we'll pick a later time and see how that one goes.

This outta be fun! I'll be in a black shirt/sweater and jeans if you are looking for who I am. I'll also have a green CD in my hands for all to see (incase theres someone else in black and jeans lol).

Hope to see you all on Tuesday at 10 (ish)!!!

What a good idea! I bookmarked it, but haven't signed up yet. The baby is stirring, which means she'll be awake any minute, so I'll register next time I'm online.

As for a good time to meet----Usually closer to 11 or noon is better. My baby is only a month old, so our sleep patterns are still quite erratic, and there are times when she's cluster nursing from like 5:30 a.m. until 7:00 a.m., and then we go back to sleep for awhile.

There have been days when I felt fortunate to be able to shower and dress by 12:30!!! LOL

I'm not too crazy about doing freeway driving in the rain, either, especially in our town!! Seems like everyone still drives like it's 90 degrees & sunny, even when the rain is coming down so hard it's almost like driving in fog.

I went to Laguna yesterday to visit a Jo-Ann Fabric store, and the husband had been out by Roseville & nearly had a conniption. I'm all, "It's just LAGUNA! Sheesh. I'll be FINE!" Plus, it wasn't even RAINING in that part of town, meanwhile it had been sleeting around Roseville from what he'd said. I'm all, "SLEET? We don't get snow here, and you're saying it was SLEETING in Roseville?" HAHAhAHA Such drama.

Coming down with a sore throat. I'll stay home for awhile, rather than put other people & their babies at risk of something contagious.

Be careful out there. The RSV virus is at an all time high this time of year, and it's very dangerous.

One of my husband's friends is a doctor in the ER at Sutter General, and has been admitting babies to the hospital because they've had it.

One of this guy's neighbors has a 2 month old that caught it, and she was in the hospital over 2 weeks and had to be hooked up to oxygen for awhile, and will now have to live with permanent lung damage as a result of coming down with this virus---which she caught because her parents had a Christmas party & everyone was breathing on the baby, and someone in the crowd had the virus.

http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/infections/lung/rsv.html

So, just in case, I'm staying away from everyone, especially those with children. So far, all I have is a sore throat, but I'm not taking any chances.

Hi Everyone,

I just posted yesterday in the Intro section. That is where I learned about the Sacramento forum :)

I list my location as Sacramento - but I am actually in Folsom. I just list the Sacramento as a general thing for people.

I am excited to see all of you locals! I don't run into that many locals who use cloth - so it is always exciting.

Maybe there can be a park day meetup? That would be fun :)

I just wanted to update my stash info since it was so boring in my first post. I'm done with tidee didee, thank goodness. Now I have a nice little stash of fitteds (swaddlebees one size OCV), home-dyed prefolds, 5 pockets (bumgenius 3.0 and happy heiney's one size) for nights/babysitters, wahm covers (new york diaper company), thirsties, home made fleece covers, home made wool covers, and super brites. I am so excited that my diapers are so much cuter now! We also haven't had any diaper rashes since we started washing our own.
Does anyone know of a local daycare/babysitter/nanny who is cloth diaper/breastfeeding/etc. friendly?

I wondered if any of you could point me in the direction of some stores that sell cloth diapers? I have a bunch of Bum Genius, I would really like to try some other kinds. I have a toddler so I need bigger ones. Maybe fitteds or some cute covers? I hope someone sees this today, becuase I won't be able to check it once we leave. :) If you can tell me a place (even in Sacramento or the surrounding areas is fine) try to give me semi-specific directions as to how to get there. Yes Goore's has those two.. otherwise it's just me here. I'm really trying to get CD info out there in this area. There really are a lot of mama's in the Sac area who want to CD and contact me but other than me there really isn't much. There is the mothers support network.. but they too are limited in items but DO have a class you can take about CD. It's a good start for new mama's.

I do meet up's almost every week or two but no classes as of yet.

Yep - Think someone might teach there that is part of the board. Believe there is only one that teaches the CD class so it might be her. :goodvibes:

Hi Mamas,

I'm in Sac 95827, I have 4 kiddos, ranging from 7ys to 6 months. Maybe we could arrange to meet up at one of the MSN meetings, I showed up for a meeting there and no one else did :(
I'm loving my cd's !!!

I would love to meet up! They have the CD support group twice a month... I'm going to have to miss the one next week because we are in the process of moving to Citrus Heights, but we should try to meet at the first one in March. What do you think?

Wow I am so excited there are some cloth mommas near me. I live in Antelope and spend most of my time Roseville. I am expecting my first baby, a boy. I run a childcare but only work 3 days a week right now since I am in my third trimester. The only place i have seen cloth is at Goores and it is really limited. My mom and I are planning on opening up a store next year that is all about cloth and accessories.

My stash currently
12 GMD yellow edged prefolds
4 NB Mutts Fitteds
8 NB Nanipoos Fitteds
6 Goodmama OS Fitteds

Big Stash of cloth wipes

Still need to purchase covers

I'm near Folsom. I have attended a few MSN meetings. GREAT group; HIGHLY recommend it. Unfortunately their hours are really funky and I can't attend the new moms group because I work. Plus it's a trek to get there from where I live. Oh well! Nice to see other moms in cyberspace.

I would love to meet up but Rocklin is a bit too far for me since I'm on partial bed rest with #4 due in a few weeks. A couple of my friends live there and it takes about 45 min. or so.

Maybe after the baby comes I can join in if you all decide to meet up.

I'm new to DS. I'm in Elk Grove. :) I'm new to CDing. I'm wishing I could afford more of the upfront costs. I only have 14 diapers. and i don't think that will be enough because i don't want to do CD laundry every day!

I know CDing is cheaper in the long run, but man is it expensive up front!

Hey lovepinkgotblue! :) Yes, CDing can be costly upfront - but there are plenty of places that you can get deals at or discounts if you want to buy new. Are you just doing prefolds?

Hi Mama,

Have you heard about Miracle diapers? They provide diaper (by loan) to quailfying low income families. www.miraclediapers.org

Click on "Reservations" at the top of the page and then scroll down to the bottom to add an appointment to your basket. They base it on financial need and if you qualify you will pay $20 to cover all shipping cost (return shipping included) and $5 for each additional child that needs CD's. I believe they provide 12 diapers for children under 12months and 9 diapers for children older then that and are not yet PLing.

I hope it works for you :)

Cloth diapering is so worth it! :)

Oh, wow, you are close! I prolly drive right by you every day taking my oldest to school in Roseville! Yeah, the people that know me. Know when I decide to do something, that's it, I'm doing it. It's more people that I meet that are shocked that anyone still uses cloth. I'm trying to spead CDing like a disease! LOL I converted my sister and now I'm working on my neighbor.

Hi all!

I am in Greenhaven... Just had #2 -- she was born at home 10 pounds 4 oz, 22 in... I was in labor for about 40 min. Urgh. Thats another story. =)

So now I have two in diapers. So fortunately I was thinking ahead and got lots of one-size diaper covers and pockets. They work pretty well - some better than others as one would expect. The ones that worked well on #1 (tall and skinny) are not working as well on #2 (thighs. She's got thighs.).

Yeah everyone thinks we are nuts for the cloth diapering. Honestly though, outside of a few more loads of laundry, even having two in diapers doesn't feel like that much work to me. ~shrug~

Hi...I am Jamie - I just found this 'board'. I live in Plumas Lake but I work in Rancho Cordova. My daughter Jera is 6 and my son Jaxon is 4 mo. My husband Jesse works in Rsvl. I started cd'ing with my son and I wish I had started with Jera. My stash is OS pockets (BG, Babyland, Coolbaby, Wonderworks, Wonderoos, HH) and PF with X small covers still. I need to move up a size in PF and covers but I just haven't yet. I love the BG and it is my new love. I almost want to sell everything else and just have a stash of those.

Nice to 'meet' everyone. People look at me like I am crazy sometimes for using CD.
