Just curious! We're here with the AF. Wondering if there is anyone else here!

Just saw this today ;) We're not WF, but we go there to your library sometimes! We're in Bowie.

I was hoping there would be a few of us!
Bowie is not too far though...

I lived in Wichita Falls for 25 years, then I met and married my DH (USAF) and now live in NC. :) I am always surprised to find people from my hometown online for some reason.

Oh, lovely Wichita Falls... ugh. I don't want to complain, but I wish there was more to do around here!
Abbie - just saw your blog. Super cute bows, and I LOVE the dress! Not exactly DS's style ;) but so so very cute! You should sell stuff in those little booths outside of the BX... or at the holiday craft fair!

My DH and I were just discussing how little there is to do here. We moved back here to be closer to family and, honestly, we're regretting it. lol
Thank you so much! I'm not sure what the BX is....I'm assuming it's something on base? I'm not familiar with the base or military life, so clue me in! lol I am thinking of doing the craft show, though!

Oh gosh, yes, the BX is like the Walmart on base. I thought this was in the military forum for some reason. Sorry, I'm losing my mind little by little, I swear.
We don't have any family here, and our closest friends are on their way out to a new base, so I've been complaining a little more than usual about how there isn't much to do. I can only walk our tiny mall so many times, ya know...

While I wouldn't want to live in WF, I gotta tell ya, there's much more to do there than in our little town! You have a great library, Lucy Park is nice, there are some museums there, the walk out by the falls is nice-or somewhere we went walking was nice, can't remember now...you can go to Hancock fabrics or the craft store anytime you want, you have movie theaters (we have none)...and you have a nice selection of places to eat. I bet if you go be a tourist in your own town, you'd find some fun stuff :)
Just remember, there are always others in a worse situation, so be glad for what you have :) I'm working on this myself these days :goodvibes:

Yeah, I'm always trying to make the best of it. We do go to the museums often, and we are lucky that the base library is nice too. The movie theaters would be great, but I'm not ready to leave my little one with a baby sitter, and I can't take him along (I tried once... it was a mess!)... But, you are right, it could be way worse!
I can't lie, though... I'll be really excited to leave when it is time!!

I don't live there, but I grew up there :) We visit once a month or so and the great-grandparents are able to see my kiddos.
If you think living there as an adult kinda sucks, let me just say that as a teenager it was so much worse lol. I have noticed Sikes is a lot different than it used to be, though. I was ecstatic when W.F. got a Starbucks. lol

You make good points! We love to go to Lucy Park and play disc golf or walk down to the falls. Actually...my avatar pic is at the falls!
It's not so bad here...it's just an adjustment being back here after Dallas and Atlanta. lol
Soooo...do we want to try to schedule a meet-up sometime?

Any of you girls know how to crochet? I would like to learn and thought it would be fun if one of you could teach me!

Oh, I wish I knew how. I'm rather domestically challenged when it comes to crafty things. Really, I start off with great intentions, but get bored half-way through a project. I'm still slowly trying to learn how to sew... which at this point, only consists of hemming things (and not very well at that!!)...
Sorry... wish I could be of more help!! :)

LOL thanks for trying, though! I tried calling the Yarn Palette on 9th street to see if they offer classes, but apparently they've closed. :( Hobby Lobby doesn't have crochet or knit classes. Hopefully with the new Michaels opens, they will.
I found a design with the Rolling Stones lips that I would love to crochet....but um....no idea how. lol

I'm in Wichita Falls too.
I'd love to meet some of you too. Moving back closer tomy parents has been hard.
I think the Yarn Palate moved across the street from its old location, but I am not sure about that.
We went to kid fest this weekend. I think we'll try going to some of the open gym times at the gymnastics sports center. We also go to the Home Depot Kids Build the first satuday of the month. It's free and fun. DD woke up saturday saying, "hammer, hammer, boom, boom, boom.!"

Oh my gosh, I am SO excited that we are getting a Michaels!! May 25th! I get excited every time I drive by  You are right, I bet they will offer classes.
One of the spouses from base that I am sort of friends with was just trying to buy Yarn Palette, but something happened and the people that were selling it to her did something shady (I don't know details) so she backed out and they ended up closing. She is super bummed about it, but I'll let you know if she ends up trying to open up another store.
What is the kids weekend at Home Depot? Is it just for older kids or would a baby appreciate it? DS is 14 months.

The Home Depot Kid's Build is really for older kids, but we took DD at about 13 months b/c we were meeting some friends for lunch. They give you a wood kit to put together with your kiddo. DD at 21 months still needs LOTs of help. DD and Daddy made me a very nice pencil holder last Saturday. It's the first Saturday of the month from 10-12 I think :headscratch: Lowes has one too it is twice a month. We have been to that one once. The wood kit was a little harder and DH got frustrated :giggle2:
I love free kid activities:)
The Yarn Palate thing is sad. I was hoping to take a class this summer.
I am looking forward to Micheals opening too.

This morning I had to run to Hobby Lobby and as we were driving through the parking lot, there was a mama going into Hancock's with her little girl.....wearing cloth! The little girl looked too cute in her rain boots and what I think was a fleece soaker. I wanted to run up and say hello, but we were rushed and....well, I didn't want to be a stalker. LOL
