Hi!
I just got an email from a friend of mine. Her LO is 7 months old. She's having trouble with supply and needs to start supplementing. This issue? The baby apparently hates the formula. Does anyone have any suggestions?
She tried the Similac w/ DHA and ADH, first trying to milk it with BM, and then straight. The baby hated it both ways.

Thanks!

ETA: I'm not sure where to post this, if I'm in the wrong place, let me know. Thanks!

Dd would not take it either. It was the bottle for us though, not the formula! Also we had to thin her formula per dr because bf babies are not use to hoe much thicker formuyla is sometimes. Try a different brand of bottle, she might be suprised:thumbsup:

maybe try the soy..its a little bit sweeter than the milk based formula, my MIL said it was all her kids would take if they needed to supplement for a bit

My kiddo had trouble with the powder stuff at first. He would take the premixed liquid.

We also didnt start with half formula/half breastmilk. We mixed 1:3, let him get used to that, then moved to 2:2, then to 3:1, then all the way to formula. That's what we still do when I have to go into town for a training and dont have enough milk in the freezer.

Try a different brand or try concentrate or RTF, I have had friends say their babe takes to it differently depending on all these factors, or a different bottle like it was suggested earlier, and mixing it with bm. Good luck it can be quite tricky.

I had the EXACT same problem and DS would only take Earth's Best Organic Soy. Probably because it was sweet like someone else said and probably becuase he knew it was $15 a can and hard to find :giggle2: But he LOVES it and has been thriving on it ever since. We tried EVERYthing!!

My son wouldn't touch formula without it being warmed.

My DD got used to bottles with BM only, then when we were comfortable with her taking bottles we just tried a bottle of straight formula. We tried three times with her screaming and crying and not drinking a drop of it, but on the fourth try she just took it. (four separate days, and yes, she got BM after about 15-20 minutes of trying the formula). So I would say try it a few times no matter what their reaction and maybe eventually she will just take it?
