In the last two weeks dd has learned to pull up, cruise and is now trying to stand without support. She's actually pretty good at it, but gets so excited and waves her arms so she falls. It just seems like trying to walk is what comes next. She's only 7 1/2 months old. I thought she would be a "baby" longer. :insert pouting: Anyone else have a baby in a hurry to be a big girl? Or a baby that walked early?

not me - dd walked unassisted at about 11-11.5 months, but i really thought she was going to start a lot sooner when she learned to crawl and pull up/cruise in the space of a couple weeks at 7.5-8 months. not to say that your kiddo won't walk early, but i know i was surprised at how fast she learned to cruise after crawling.

i have heard of walkers at 9ish months not too uncommonly.

My mother swears I walked at 7 months!

My youngest child started walking/running/climbing unaided at 9 months and hasn't stopped for one second!

My oldest walked at 8.5 months. He rolled at 4 months, crawled at 5 months, sat up at 6 months.

Just to make up for it, my youngest didn't walk until almost 17 months; and she was rolling at 2 months, crawling at 6 months, and then didn't progress for a long time. I don't think she stood unassisted until just before she started walking.

Both of mine walked "early". DD was a few days short of 10 mths and my ds was 7 mths & 3 wks. I cried when they both started to pull up on things because I knew it wouldn't be long before they were EVERYWHERE. :lostit: My ds started pulling himself up to stand at 6.5 mths. No one believed me when I told them. They had to come over to see it with their own eyes.

I have to believe your, mama, L!

I am friends with the director of Grace's daycare and you can imagine how many children she has seen through the years (her family owns it). She says there was a baby there that walked at 6 months:hugegrin:

DS was taking steps shortly after 8 months, and really walking well at 9 months.

DD on the other hand, is nearly 14 months and isn't even really standing much on her own (holding on to things, but just not alone).

My first crawled at 5, pulled up at 6, and walked along furniture at 7...he could transfer short distances (like, couch to coffee table) but didn't let go of the furniture until 10mo...I think it has to do with how heavy he was! He was a huge baby :)

My second was later. Crawling 7-8mo and pulling up 8-9mo and then he was walking intermittently 9-10mo..and then walking for good at 10-11mo. Now he'll be 1 on Tuesday and he walks all the time (doesn't crawl at all anymore), but he does kind of fall a lot.

My first walked across the living room unassisted the day before he turned 9 months old.

DD took steps at 8 3/4 mos old (pulled up on couch and walked across the room to another piece of furnature) and was walking all over the place (standing up on her own then walked all over the place) at 10 mos.

DS was taking steps from furniture to furniture or person to person at 10 mos and 4 days later was walking all over the place!

My almost 2yr old started walking at 7mo. He has sensory issues though that caused him to get up off the floor sooner than he would have otherwise, I believe. My oldest 2 walked at 9mo and 10mo. Everyone else was a year or older :)

My two first ds were up and walking unassisted at 9 months. #3 has been pulling up and cruising since about 6 1/2 months. I call him my late walker bcs he for some reason won't let go of the furniture when he walks!! But he sure is fast even haning onto stuff!

Definitely not my boys!!

Mason didn't walk until 14 months. He pulled up and "cruised" for a while, but didn't really walk until 14 months.

Camden was even slower. He didn't even begin to crawl until 11 months. He just barely started walking at 17/18 months. He has a lot of medical problems that could be possibly causing delays. But, I don't really consider it too much of a delay, since it's just on the back end of the normal range!!

I think I'd cry if my babies walked that early. It tends to end babyhood and begin toddlerhood once they walk!!

My parents say I walked alone at 9 mos, my friend's DD walked at 9 mos and my DS is almost walking and he'll be 9 mos next Sat. He can stand alone for quite awhile and can walk holding on to thing and has attempted to take a step but fell. I'm sure it won't be long. My others didn't walk until 11-12 mos.

My kids were walking at 9 months and 10 months. I was happy that DD#1 was so advanced but it made me sad when DD#2 was...I hope this baby just stays put for awhile...there is NO reason to grow up so fast! LOL

my nephew who is now working on 16 YEARS old, was pulling up at 4 months old and walking by 6 months old. Really weird to see a 4 month old standing up in his crib. :)

Both my kids were taking unassisted steps at 8 months, full on walking about 2 weeks later. Hey, it's good exercise to constantly be running after your kids, right?

My daughter is just a little older than yours. She just started pulling up yesterday and now shes an expert already. She was standing unassisted today. I swear she grows in leaps, nothing for a while and then BAM. I was wondering this myself. My mother in law says my sister in law was walking by 9 months so I guess we will see!

my DD walked alone at 6 months and she babbled a few words at that age too. DS rolled over at 6 weeks!! but he was a big baby so he had an advantage. he crawled at 4 months, pulled up at 5. he's now 7.5 months he motors along the furniture and in brave moments will take a couple of steps but then quickly gets scared and sits down. he will stand alone if i just stopped holding his hand, but he is starting to stand up from a squatting position. i think he will walk unassisted here soon

My 3rd baby walked at 7 months. Was pulling up at 6 months and taking steps a week after. When he let go at 7 months that was the end of crawling. I pulled my hair out after that.

Taiven was standing unassisted and taking steps at 5 months but not walking until 6 months. He was early at everything. rolled at 2 1/2 weeks, sat at 3 months, cruised the furniture at 4 months and stood alone at 5 took 1-5 steps at 5 months but was walking across the room and around the grocery store at 6 months. He also talked very young already able to say "i yuh you" at 6 months too and by nine months had over 50 words!
Only thing that came with early walking was the fact that depth perception doesnt come for a baby until around 9 months, so he wouldnt be able to tell if there was an incline or step it was all flat to him so he was constantly falling or tumbling from not being able to see inclines. AND you have to deal with all the old bitties at the store telling you you're going to make your kid bow legged because I "let" him walk so early. I am sorry but How was I to stop him from walking????

And I thought my kids were early walkers!! Alex was 7 months when he stood alone and was walking un assisted at 8 1/2 months. Madison was the exact same age for both!! Hummm...wonder when this one will stand and walk :lostit:

As for talking Alex was an early one ~ first word at 4 months and wouldn't stop after that while Madison didn't talk until she was 22 months old. One extreme to the other there.

They both teethed very early ~ first at 2 1/2 months for both of them. i swear they came out teething!!

Alex was fully potty learned one month before his 2nd birthday and Madison was fully potty learned at 2 years 3 months. They were both quick and easy to teach ~ like 2 weeks of reminding and no accidents after that.

My DD learned to crawl, pull-up, cruise, and stand unassisted all in the same weekend. It was a sad weekend for me. She was 7 months old when she did all that, but she didn't take her first steps until 9 months and was really walking at 10 months.

My own daughter walked at 11 months.

I have a daycare boy that is sooooo close to walking, and he is nine months old. I am considering knocking him down each time I see him try to let go and walk. No good can come from a nine month old on two wheels.

Dakota just started pulling himself to standing along the sofa this past weekend. He just turned 7 months old. Makes me sad.. I wanted him to stay "baby" longer....
