So my daughter has so major runny poo ever since we started introducing milk to her diet. Because of the runny poo out of no where she hasn't been pottying and has a bad rash. I know her rash would get better if she could go diaper free for a day but its too messy considering shes 1 and runs around like a maniac all day.
Anyone have any advice?

can you leave her diaper free when she sleeps and just make sure to catch her pee before she moves about, like at naptime?

I would definitely suggest removing milk from her diet! The rash, the runny poop, the increase in accidents all point to a food sensitivity. You could try rice milk or soy milk instead. Are there any other foods you have recently introduced? They might also be a problem. You need to remove milk from her diet for 2 weeks for it to be out of her system so look for an improvement after that amount of time has passed. You should try the EC yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eliminationcommunication/) for more questions on food sensitivities.

Ditto. As long as she gets other dairy, no one needs milk.

We were thinking that it might be the milk. I just wasn't sure because she handles cheese, yogurt, and the occasional ice cream well.

I will try to take her off milk for a short time to see if it improves then go from there.

Also will try diaper free naps... Just have to line the beg with towels. Sometimes she wets during naps sometimes not.

have you tried EC'ing with the runny poo? My dd has pretty bad diarrhea for the antibiotics she is taking for her pneumonia, and a horrible yeast rash, but the sensation of having to go is extra strong so she has even been waking several times to ask to go potty.

I did try and it seems like the urge hits her LAST minute. Like one minute shes playing then she suddenly gets upset and jumps up and it hits her just like that. Not enough time for me to jump up and rush her to the bathroom.
She does seem to be doing better today though. She had a bit firmer poo last night and so far none today. I haven't given her any milk though just water and juice (trying to keep her hydrated).

DD#2 has always had runny pooo. I would remove milk for the 2 weeks, if you notice a difference you can add goat milk as it can be an alternative to milk sensitivities (we use it with great success, get the powdered milk as it is cheaper.) Sometimes kids can be intolerant to milk but not to processed milk products, may be a sensitivity and not an allergy :)
I would also stay away from juice as it is really noted for making runny poos!
Good luck!

I can't handle milk and ice cream but I have no problem with cheese and yogurt. A lot of ppl that have lactose intolerance can deal with cheese and yogurt because of the aging process, I think. Our dd#2 was on rice milk for a year and then we started her on digestive enzymes and she hasn't had a problem with milk since. And it's true you don't have to give milk to get enough calcium. A diet with a lot of dark leafy greens actually gives more calcium then milk does. In fact some argue that milk actually takes more than it gives because of the way your body has to process it. If she loves yogurt load her up on that, it's very good for her especially if you find a brand with a lot of live cultures. And keep in mind that if she is allergic you are only seeing the outward signs of it. You may not be seeing the pain her gut is in while trying to digest it. If I drink a glass of milk I literally am doubled over in pain and get all the other symptoms you described.
