So I've been trying to catch dd's pees after naps and in the morning. I know she always pees within a few minutes of waking up, so I take her and have her back against my tummy and her legs on the toilet seat with me straddling the toilet behind her. I make the "pssst" sound we've decided to use for a cue, and wait usually a minute or two. Dd sits and waits, sometimes squirms and fusses, but she never pees. As soon as I take her off and lay her down she pees like she's been holding it, waiting to get off the toilet. She will pee upright in her diaper if she's in a sling, so I don't know why the aversion to the potty. Any advice? TIA! :goodvibes:

maybe you should get her a bblp (baby bjorn little potty) that she can sit on by herself

She must not be relaxed in that position. I think it will pass. Running the tap a little may help her relax and pee :) IMO a catch is a catch so if you let her pee in an open diaper laying down for the time being, she is still aware of her elimination, still communicating with you, you're just not saving laundry unfortunately.

My DD doesn't like to be held like that either. She much prefers the BBLP and will try to hold it til I get her to the potty. That just happened this afternoon - the potties were being cleaned & I knew she had to pee so I held her over the sink and then the toilet. Nothing. I quickly rinsed & dried a potty & put her on it. Ta da! She peed. Amazing. And weird. Anyway the BBLPs are only $10 and I think you can get them at Toys R Us.
