I have recently read journal articles telling how toxic lubricants are to sperm (not Pre-seed...that is the only one mostly sperm-friendly). I had no idea! Since I am still breastfeeding I need lube (tmi). I am curious if anyone got PG using lubricants. I am not activelyTTC but not avoiding either but am curious since I read these articles. I know one mama that conceived while using astroglide.
Wait! Any lubricants or spermicidal ones? I mean, I've used KY before but had no idea that it was harmful to sperm!

any lubricants...not spermicide although apparently many lubricants act as a spermicide that do not contain nonoxnyl-9 (sp)

I've never concieved while using a lubricant. The only one that i've heard was ok to use while ttc is preseed, but its kinda pricey. Also, maybe tmi, saliva is also bad for spermies.

well crap we used lube last night! just a bit to get it in Sorry TMI but we are activly trying! I so want it this month! no more lube!!!!

we've actually never used lube but in a magazine I was oogling recently I saw a lube that was sperm friendly :happyclap: I'll try to locate it or remember what it was in....

DS2 was conceived using "Pre-Seed" a lubricant that is actually MORE friendly to sperm than going natural.

I'm pretty dry from breastfeeding too, but we've found other ways to make it work. :blush:

DD it would have been KY Liquid and this time around it was just a generic store brand of lubricating jelly without Non9. I honestly don't remember though if we used it this time or not, I could ask DH, but I think he would think I had gone off the deep end if he new I was posting publically about this topic.:giggle:

Yep, we've used the regular KY but prefer astroglide or a store brand similar (lasts longer). Been pg 8 times & have always used lubricant. (non-spermicidal type, BTW!)

well, there may be studies showing that lubes aren't great and can be harmful but it seems like most of us here have healthy children that were conceived while using lubricants. I wouldn't worry too much :mrgreen:

I'd be curious to see, then: since there is a higher risk of BDs when a child is conceived when spermicide is used, would there also be a higher risk of BDs if lube is used?
It's probably just as well. I hate lube anyway. It kind of... um... irritates things for me. :blush:

We've used the KY warming but I really don't remember if we used it when we conceived our last 2. I know w/ my first 3 I didn't use lube, we didn't start using it till a couple yrs ago.

we used Femglide when we conceived the trio. I have used preseed before too--didnt get pg. I KNOW FEMGLIDE ISNT TOXIC TO SPERM!!! im living proof! I think I got it at drugstore.com.

Every time. KY...the spermicidal kind and the non-spermicidal kind. And there was a spermicidal foam..PCF or VCF or something like that..and we conceived w/ that too.
