so i started ECing DS and all is going slowly but surley! Besides the fact he is afraid of other peoples toilets! he goes on ours no prob, loves it actually. but i was out @ my parents and he had to go! he doesnt like going in his dipe at all! so i broight him in the bathroom and sat him, he freaked! arched his back and wanted off, so i just took him off. didnt make a scene or any comments, i just went with his cues(he held it till we got home then went) Same thing when i went to my sisters but he was REALLY holding it, pulling it back in actually! i sat him and he cried so i took him off and put him on the changing table and his bm was half out and he pulled it in! he as crying and everything:cry: i felt SO bad for the little man! and again he held it till we came home, and he went as soon as i sat him on our potty. did anyone else encounter this "problem" w/ your LO?(DS is 10mos if it matters) any suggestions??

My DD did this when we first started ECing (around 11 months). She would go fine at home, but no where else. It was a phase and she got over it. What helped for us was getting a portable potty seat (it fits in my diaper bag) and we'd sit her on it at our house and she'd go. Then, when we were someplace else I'd pull the SAME potty seat out of the diaper bag, so it seemed similar. She also has a certain book she likes to read while she goes so I would bring that along too. I think familiarity helps a lot!

DS is not ECed but he is potty training right now and he is terrified of public toilets. If Isit really far back on the toilet with my legs spred and then set him on the potty in front of me it seems to help! I hope you figure something out!!

you can try sitting on the potty with him in between your legs. It might make him more comfortable less afraid of another toilet feeling more secure with him in front of you.

You can buy a bblp at BRU for $10. You can also buy a potette there (a foldable potty) you can carry the potette or the bblp around and always have it available for ds. You can also try hanging out in the washroom for a few minutes before offering so that he can get used to it, hold him and dance around and act happy and comfortable. Really my ds1 and 2 almost never poop outside of the house just cause they don't want to. I guess they hold it. I don't really get that, when I have to go I go, but everyone's different I guess!?!?:)

it might help to have one book or toy that you only use while on the potty...with my LO her potty is in front of the TV (she like to watch "Signing Time" while poopin) but she knows that when we're out she gets her peacock...so far so good for us! Good Luck!
