My DD is 12 months old. She has been pooping on the potty since 8 months, and we started offering the potty for her to pee after I saw this forum back at the beginning of February. The last 2 days, she has not gone in her diaper at all during the day, and her night time diapers have barely been wet and she almost sighs as she goes the first time in the morning. So I'm wondering if I should try panties during the day, since they would make taking her potty so much easier 'cause they just pull down and up. But I'm worried that it might be me trying to force her to grow up too fast, or that peeing in the undies (I know it will happen eventually) and the wetness clinging to her will traumatize her or make her regress. She hates being wet! She gets it from me, my mom said I PLed myself, both day and night, by 16 months, and she wasn't doing EC or anything, I just refused to go in dipes.
I know I'm probably overthinking this but I want to make sure that I'm do what's best for her, not me. :headscratch: Any thoughts??

Our DD are the same age (same b-day in fact). I have recently been putting her in trainers or undies. I got some from JCPenny's (2T) and some 18month gerber trainers from the EC store. I hot washed/dried them to shrink them. I have also been collecting different waterproof trainers to use while we are out of the house. It makes life SO much easier for both of us.
It's not trying to make her grow up too fast. And it won't traumatize her if you don't make a big deal out of it. Here's a link to a recent thread about trainers:

Yay, my DD has the same birthday too!! All the rockstar ECing babies must have been born on 2/27 :)
Anyway... I am going to start collecting trainers slowly. At home a lot of the time I'll have DD in pants without anything- no diaper or undies. It actually makes it easier when she does have a miss (which she's been doing more lately, but I think it's because she's about to start walking fulltime)to notice. And it's not really that hard to clean up (we have hardwood floors, which helps).
I don't think we're trying to make our kiddos grow up too fast at all, as long as we're not FORCING them on the toilet and holding them down screaming or anything (which I don't think ANY of us do... yikes).
I'm not ready to do nonwaterproof trainers while out of the house yet, but I've found that when DD isn't in a diaper she's much better at holding her urine... it's like she KNOWS when she has a diaper on she can just go and not tell mama.

Thanks, mamas! Isn't it funny all our DDs have the same b-day? :giggle2: Thanks for the support and info. I've been looking at some trainers online and getting ready to order. I just think it would make it so much easier. DD loves going on the potty for the most part and I just think they would make it so much easier. The part she doesn't like is putting the diaper back on afterwards, and that's especially hard when were out and about because there is no way I'm going to lay my baby on the floor of a public rest room! I'll let you know how it goes once I get some!

I am looking for trainers now. It is much easier to pull up and down. you are not making her grow up too fast. We teach our little ones to "deal" with the wetness. The fact that she does not like it is great, makes your job easier. She knows what she is doing we just have to learn what they are telling us when they have to go.
We catch all poos but not all pees. The only way i know she has to pee is when she crawls over to her potty and hits it. We catch most, she is not consistent with the time intervals like she was at 4months. And she LOVES to potty in public, people look at me funny when i come out of the stall with a baby after they heard me ask her if she has to potty and tell her good girl. If i could just have a pic of their faces! :)
